### 5/5 — Fantastic, Simplistic, and perfect

*2019-01-08, version 1.0.0*

There is nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said, this game is perfect.

### 5/5 — Best Nonogram game on App Store

*2018-10-20, version 1.0.0*

LOVE this game! I’ve spent many hours on this app! Great puzzles that range from easy to hard. LOVE the navigation! I’ve played a bunch of the nonogram games and this one has the best navigation by far. Very easy to maneuver. Love the option to turn on Show Mistakes only when needed. It has banner ads but no full length ads. The banner ads are small enough that they don’t interfere with game play but are seen. The only thing I’d change is to make the main gridlines (for instance, gridlines at 4 and 8 on 12x12 grid) a little darker just for ease of vision and play.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2018-03-23, version 1.0.0*

I just downloaded this a few days ago and I have played it for hours at a time. I have never cared for Sudoku, but this is great!

### 5/5 — My new go-to game.

*2018-03-13, version 1.0.0*

Need to distract yourself for a while.
This little addictive game fills the bill.
8x8 grid for a quick chill out, up to 20x20 for when you have more time.
Easy to learn, and elegantly simple.

### 5/5 — Great games

*2018-03-13, version 1.0.0*

If you like Sudoku but dislike keeping track of where each number is, this is your game. Deceptively simple to learn but difficult to master. I know that phrase has been used before, but it really fits this game. Each square on the finished grid will contain either an X or a block. Your job using the clues for each row and column is to fill in the grid completely. Sounds easy, but is mind boggling. Great game.

### 5/5 — Challenging brain teasers

*2018-03-12, version 1.0.0*

Fun and challenging game to help you keep your mind sharp. The strategies Ned logic of "if this then that" are very engaging. Lots of levels to choose from as well.

### 5/5 — Addictive little game!

*2018-03-10, version 1.0.0*

This is a great little puzzle game! Using logic, you have to determine if your box is filled or empty. Deceptively simple, but I warn you, you will waste *hours* figuring out the larger grid puzzles. If you like Sudoku, Minesweeper, and similar puzzle games, you’ll love this game.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work properly

*2020-11-06, version 1.0.1*

The listing ssys that it’s compatible with my phone, but clearly it doesn’t function as intended on my device.

Solved the first puzzle easily as it was an 8x8, the little squares started dancing and then nothing. At all. The only button that works returns you to the menu where you can restart that puzzle or resume it. Which tells me that the app doesn’t consider the puzzle solved. Except that it clearly is as, and if it wasn’t y

### 2/5 — Dull

*2019-07-31, version 1.0.0*

Haven't had a puzzle result in an image thus far. Easy puzzles even on the highest difficulty(size). Some redesign where finished columns/rows auto-x themselves out once you've filled in all the spaces, would increase ease of play.

### 3/5 — What are they?????

*2019-05-31*

I love Nonograms and was happy to find an app with no in-app purchases. But it’s disappointing when you solve it, and all you get is amorphous shapes, rather than a recognisable picture.

### 3/5 — Music Stops Playing

*2018-11-03, version 1.0.0*

If you’re listening to music in the app, it will randomly stop playing part way thru the game apparently for an ad or something. This needs to be fixed.

### 4/5 — Mostly good, but way too easy

*2023-09-10, version 1.0.1*

Interface is simple and intuitive. Nothing unnecessary getting in the way of gameplay. My only complaint is that every puzzle is too easy. I feel like I'm on autopilot going through these. It's missing those types of puzzles where when you first look at them you think you can't even put a single tile down, but then when you find the one possible starting point, you feel like a supergenius.

### 4/5 — Please allow landscape view!

*2022-07-16, version 1.0.1*

Best nonograms game out there! I don’t need it to make pictures, so this is great. I would love to use it on my iPad without rotating.

### 4/5 — Potential to be a great game

*2020-09-18, version 1.0.1*

Nice basic game. I would prefer more game play options be made available, such as auto fill or ability to use a directional pad. If options such as these were added would be a GREAT game.

### 4/5 — Responsive!

*2019-09-03, version 1.0.0*

I used to love this app but then it started showing me constant ads for the NRA. Developers responded to my review & fixed it!

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2025-12-04, version 1.0.1*

I’ve spent years playing this every day - amazing contribution to the game puzzle world!

### 5/5 — Wonderful app, use it daily: needs an ad-free version

*2024-07-19, version 1.0.1*

Of all the nonogram apps I’ve tried, this one is hands-down the best. The interface is effectively simple. No frills. A welcome sight for a world largely gone made with flashy/glitzy complexity and distraction.

I play this daily, on my iPad mini, often multiple times. I alternate with solitaire forever (forty thieves for the win- similar simple, not over-sophisticated interface, just lets you get in and play).

The ads are increasingly causing trouble: maybe it is the age of the app. The APIs starting to show their age with backend changes Apple has implemented in recent years. Occasionally trying to pull up the ads will crash the app. I have to try multiple times to get it to open. If I remember to just hop into airplane mode, cutting off all internet, it usually fixes the problem.

I echo the sentiment of other reviewers: I’d gladly pay a one-time price for an ad-free version. I was honestly surprised not to see one. Especially if it continues not to see at least a yearly update (ie compile against latest iPadOS SDKs to prevent bit rot as is now starting to occur at time of this writing).

An app like this is golden: it doesn’t require new features. It is near perfection in its current state. At the least give us a fresh compile against recent SDKs so ad pulls stop crashing the app.

Or give us a one-time < $5 ad-free version.

Some feature/functionality improvements I wouldn’t balk at, but don’t NEED; I’ll still be playing daily regardless:

- landscape mode. This is really the ONLY app I use that forces me into portrait mode. Clearly not a dealbreaker (on my iPad mini, but does generally prevent me from using it on my big iPad with attached keyboard)

- higher resolution grids. I’m only playing 20x20 at this point. And that’s only because it is the largest option currently available.

- some comment on the difficulty: Honestly, I love how I can get through each game. But if you wanted to add a difficulty mode to allow for more challenging games (turn off some/whatever constraints you perform for current grid generation) some would appreciate it. And it wouldn’t be that intrusive a change to the interface.

Honestly this is an ideal app to use. And for a developer? An ideal app to maintain: your users don’t need glitz and shininess, they just want to continue playing a familiar game, with simple, no frills interface. Most of the time you really only have to test it against updates to the API/SDK, and submit it as an update, which at a minimum of a year in frequency should ward off bitrot.

If for whatever reason you don’t want to continue supporting it, I’d offer to take the reigns: these mindful, mindless joy apps are important to maintain. Require little maintenance, don’t need constant new features, but maybe occasional tweaks as the underlying technology allows (larger grids, maybe landscape mode, maybe difficulty toggle depending on how the grid is populated), and do things like an ad-free mode.

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best Nonograms

*2023-10-12, version 1.0.1*

There is nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said, this game is perfect.

### 5/5 — I use this app (literally) every day!

*2021-11-30, version 1.0.1*

The interface is clean, uncluttered, easy to use and the games span the gamut from medium to challenge if, which I really like. Errors are not revealed unless I want to check my progress (which is perfect for me) and I can also pick the size of the board to play. I’ve used other Nonograms before but in my opinion this is the best I’ve found.

### 5/5 — Ads interrupt my music

*2021-05-11, version 1.0.1*

I love this game and have been playing for a solid year, but some of the ads don’t allow me to play my music while I play the game I would pay for an ad free version in a heart beat

### 5/5 — amazing!

*2020-06-01, version 1.0.0*

there are barely any adds, i can listen to music while in the app, all puzzles are free, some harder than others, it’s absolutely AMAZING. i have been searching so hard for puzzle apps like this, because i love these puzzles, and i’ve finally found the right app. and, if you are thinking about getting this app, and are reading this, GET IT. it is great, i have no complaints.

### 5/5 — Just Nonograms - no ads, no gimmicks

*2019-12-29, version 1.0.0*

For people who just want the satisfaction of a straight logic puzzle without gimmicky pictures and other non-sense, this is for you. Great job of limiting fat finger errors with the user interface and a great straight forward puzzle game.

### 5/5 — wonderful no frills game

*2019-12-21, version 1.0.0*

i absolutely love this game. great ui. no issues

### 5/5 — Best Game I’ve Ever Had On My Phone.

*2019-11-08, version 1.0.0*

The title says it all. I never get tired of playing. Each puzzle is unique and nearly all of them are solvable. I’ve only skipped out of a few and I’ve played hundreds. The interface is simple and direct, and I’m grateful that they haven’t tried to make pictures out of the squares, but just let them be random.

### 5/5 — Dead honest. Best free to play puzzle

*2019-05-13, version 1.0.0*

Everything is great! The optional color schemes are awesome!
Only thing I would fix would be iPhone X compatibility. The buttons on the bottom of the screen are too close to the Home line indicator and can cause some problems when switching between the X’s and Square’s.
