## What is Northing?

Northing is a UK peak audit ledger for post-hoc activity verification.

Core functions:
• Ingest activity streams (Strava / FIT / GPX) as raw records
• Verify summit efforts using coordinate checks with a 200 m horizontal tolerance
• Calculate vertical gain from pressure-delta records
• Track progress across Munros, Wainwrights, and Marilyns
• Export activity records when needed

System rules:
• Agency first: the app records, the user decides
• No feeds, no encouragement, no notification bait
• Private by default, no data selling
• Great Britain scope: England, Scotland, Wales

Bug fix:

Summits on the Ethels, Nuttalls, Welsh 3000s and Trail 100 that aren't also a Munro, Wainwright or Marilyn weren't verifying. Now fixed. Run a sync to pick up walks you've already done.

Spotted by a walker who noticed Win Hill hadn't registered. Thank you.

### 2.2 — 2026-07-10

Northing’s summit registry has been expanded and refined.
This update adds support for more hill lists, including Corbetts, Grahams, Welsh 3000s, Nuttalls, Trail 100 and Ethels, plus Ireland and Northern Ireland Marilyns.
Registry browsing is now clearer, with improved country and region grouping, cleaner summit names, better map filtering, and summit detail cards across the expanded lists.
Sync results now show matched progress across all relevant lists, while preserving existing summit history, ascent counts, activity cards and ledger records.

The Registry has been upgraded. Browse summits by list, country and region, customise which lists appear on your Home screen, and view clearer progress across your collections. Peaks belonging to multiple lists are now grouped together, while all existing summit history and completion counts remain intact.

Your live position on the map now shows which way you're facing. A small directional arrow sits above your location dot and updates as you turn — useful for orienting yourself against nearby summits without having to start moving first.
