Light illuminates, shadow defines. Notan Live! is a visualization tool for artists. Functioning similarly to the threshold adjustment layer in Photoshop, it is an aid to composition by allowing the artist to compose with shadows only. With this tool, light and dark can be arranged in visual space. In NOTAN view the single slider allows the user to choose a pixel luminosity value of 0-255, in real time, with values at or below the threshold being displayed as black (shadow) - values above the threshold are displayed as white (light). The artist can frame live view in Color, NOTAN, and B/W modes. Images may be saved in any mode. This makes it unusable. ### 1/5 — Not Working *2024-01-16* Had this app for not too long. It was working great at first, but now when you try to upload your photo, it enlarges the photo so large it doesn’t fit on the screen. So frustrating trying to find apps that actually work! ### 5/5 — Love the app, could use possible update *2023-12-05* Love love love! I use the app all the time, especially in teaching software simple filters. Most recent iPhone update, when importing an image from phone library to app, the image is cut off in app. And not able to tell what is being thresholded /subsequent image when saved is a complete threshold image however. Just would be helpful if entire image was visible in the app as was in previous app versions. Works fine when using live. ### 5/5 — Simple / Excellent *2021-11-15, version 1.0* Thank you. Simple and has a range for threshold as you would normally use in a program like Photoshop. Ignore the old review. I just bought the app and you can import photos. Its also really cool to be able to use threshold on the live camera! You can’t import pre-existing, downloaded, or photos that were sent to you by someone else, etc and turn them “notan” or black and white... You can only do it to photos that you’re taking right then and there... I’m very frustrated with that part of the app...
