I am disappointed there is not a more specific iPad app for this. I use my iPad most of the time since it is better suited for data entry and allows signatures to be made more naturally. There are other features available to customize the app to meet the requirements of any state, as well as to the specific notary work that you do. I have been using Notary Act for almost 2 years doing loan closings and general notary work. I cannot imagine life without it. I have the app on my cellphone so my journal is always handy. Tech support is an added bonus and readily available to address any questions. So give it a try…download it now! While taking my notary classes the instructor purported how she felt every notary would benefit from this program. By following her lead and communicating with other notaries, many advocate that this app saves time in completing sensitive documents. By setting up this program, I conclude this is an avenue for all new notaries to try. And the communication received from Notary Act will be second to none. You will not have to worry about receiving answers to your questions concerning using this product because someone will always be there to answer. It scans the barcode on a license and auto populates all of the information so it does not have to be handwritten anymore, allows me to keep a digital record of al of my transactions on my phone. It is the best tool for loan signings where they may be 20 documents that need notarization. If I had to hand write all of this out it would take forever. I often speak the information into my journal with my iPhone. This is a HUGE timesaver! I started using this journal with my very first signing as a notary public. So glad I never had to use a paper journal. I’ve had to reach out to the staff at Notary Act and they have been super helpful and amazing. Have never tried another app and don’t see the need so. The support is fantastic, with regular updates and improvements. Very intuitive. I suggest that every notary that I work with download and use this app. Has come in handy, more than once. Was called by the FBI about a year ago regarding a notarization that I did once. Was able to go into the records, download and email them my entry. They were super impressed, “we never see notaries that keep records as complete and organized as yours.” Fantastic product!! ### 5/5 — Absolutely the best Notary app you can get!!! *2020-12-02, version 3.1.5* Simply scan the signees driver’s license and 95% of the work is done! A few clicks and taps from you and your done. This saves SO MUCH TIME!!! No more carrying massive journals around and then looking a place to set it down to fill out and get a signature. You look more professional using the app. It’s far easier on you. You will never lose this journal. If you have quit notarizing for the journal is still available to you on the cloud....forever. I’ve been a notary for 20+ years, and I’ve gone through multiple types of journals. The 14 day thing is dumb when you first start out. I signed up the day my commission started on paper but I didn’t start till 2 months later not knowing it took the paperwork that long. So now my trial is up and I have zero journal entries. I will check out the other ejournal that I signed up for today to see if I like it and subscribe if so. ### 1/5 — I must be missing something *2023-10-13, version 4.0.1* The app just spins its wheels, trying to create an account. I bomb out of the app, and then it seems to have created the account first bug. Then I try to add a fake entry, and when it comes time to scan in my license, there is no square box that appears allowing me to scan my license. So, in my opinion, this app just simply doesn’t work. Furthermore, there’s no place within the app to purchase the service. And I had no idea that I would have to buy something. I’m lost. ### 1/5 — Trial version *2023-09-05, version 4.0.1* You should clearly state that it’s a trial version and state the subscription price instead of wasting my time ### 1/5 — Monthly Payment for a Log Book is ludicrous *2018-07-15, version 2.3.4* You can make a log book in Word for FREE Copy log sheets and fill in the blank information on site with clients. ### 1/5 — Nice app, hidden charges *2016-02-02, version 2.1* Subscription fees are not mentioned in EULA, App Store, or welcome email. However, they are steep and buried on the website. Not being upfront with this information is not attractive to a role verifying identity, and it's not good business. ### 1/5 — Costs *2015-12-21, version 2.1* App looks like it might work well if everything functions but the hidden cost of 4.99 per month is a bit high. Might be worth it if for this money you get a storage account. Was very disappointed at how the "trial" turns into a monthly rental. Microsoft tried this and they are learning it may not be working so well. ### 1/5 — Very suspect, use caution *2013-01-06, version 1.0* I downloaded this app, but when I opened it it went to a login in screen requiring a user ID and password and no way to sign up or register. So I went to their Web page, couldn't find any way to sign up, tried to contact them and 404'd to an error message in Russian. I'm not sure what's happening, but the app did nothing more than take me to a sign in page that I cannot use. ### 3/5 — It's decent *2024-06-13, version 4.0.8* I've been using this app for a few years and recently switched from an exclusive android user to an iphone and certain things are inconvenient. The primary thing on iphone is that the app doesn't give a prompt to remember/save or use my saved password. I've tried deleting it and reinstalling multiple times to see if it'll prompt but it never does. So, since I now have to remember it and type it in every single time, I had to change to a simpler pw, which is obviously less secure. The other thing, formerly on the android app the ID scanner worked amazingly... Until an update changed the way it scans and now it's a pain on both iphone and Android. Yay "updates"! ### 3/5 — Outdated UI & no iPad app *2017-03-07, version 2.2* The service is nice but the app is in terrible need of a UI update. Not even using the stock keyboard in iOS 10. And how does an app that allows you to capture signatures not have an iPad app for use with an Apple Pencil? ### 3/5 — Notary act *2015-07-25, version 1.6* Love this app. My only complaint is that you can not go in and modify the date and time. I'm on to journal late and I need to be able to modify dates and time. It’s the only journal I use. I’m able to take photos of the signer. Take photo of their ID. Take a photo of their thumbprint and it’s all saved right there. Not only does it save me time at the signing table, it lends a sense of professionalism to every notarization I perform. Clients are impressed with my efficiency! I’m able to serve more people in a shorter amount of time. I’m really impressed with some of the newer features NotaryAct offers. The level of support they provide is exceptional, and they continuously update the app with new features. One of most significant benefits is the time it saves me compared to using a traditional paper journal. Instead of handwriting the signer’s information, I simply scan the back of their ID, and all the necessary details automatically populate in my Notary Act journal. This not only streamlines the process but also minimizes the risk of making errors or missing crucial information. Another fantastic aspect is the convenience it offers when I’m on the go and someone requires notary services. I always keep my stamp with me, but now, thanks to Notary Act, I always have my journal with me as well, right on my smartphone! For notaries involved in loan signings, this app is a game-changer. Notary Act allows you to add title companies and document packages that you regularly use & work with, which means that during the appointment, all you need to do is scan the back of the ID, have them sign and your done with the journal! It has been a game changer for me. The notary journal was the only available tool I had for a long time. Switching to the Notary App made logging signers in a lot easier. One way it made it easier was by making the login process quicker! With the option to scan the drivers license instead of manually writing it down made things effective and efficient. Another way it made things easier was by securing the previous signers information. You no longer have to cover up the previous signer’s information in order for the current signer to sign off. Another great thing is the app is stored on your phone, so it’s one less item you have to carry. To be honest, I was still using my journal for the first 5-10 digital login transactions. I had a fear of not having a back up. After realizing that they are digitally saved and it was secured, I stopped immediately. The app has been great from the very beginning, but it just got even better. With all the new categories that’s been added, you can really streamline your transactions. I love the Notary Act app and will be a long time user as long as I’m in business! ### 5/5 — Loving Notary Act!! *2023-03-12, version 3.1.5* Hello, my name is Adrian “Royltee” of Royltee Notary Mobile Resolutions and Apostille Services. I have been a notary public since October 2021. For the first couple of times, I used my notary book log for my work. I didn't like the paper journal because it took too long to fill out and my handwriting is terrible! I was also worried that my signers might use a fake ID! In January of 2022 I found Notary Act! I’m sooo Loving Notary Act!! Notary Act is THE BEST because when I scan the barcode on the signers Driver’s License the info comes up on the app in seconds! Whew, no more bad handwriting and I am pretty sure if my signers had a fake ID I would know very quickly! For me to fill out my paper journal would take forever to due and my handwriting “whew” and now it takes me less than five minutes with Notary Act! Which saves a lot of time and able to get my clients done efficiently, accurately, and quickly. I'm commissioned in both Maryland and Virginia. Maryland requires a journal, but Virginia does not so as a best practice I also journal my work in Virginia. The other features are just as amazing - if you are out of cell coverage your entries are stored on your phone until you are back in coverage. I just found out that I can track the type of assignments I get by companies as well as order #, stamps used, mileage and so much more! The peace of mind that I have about never having to lose, have my paper journal damaged or destroyed is worth every penny I spend. All my entries are stored on the web, they told me they use AES 256 encryption. The one thing I know is my entries are permanent and I will always have access to them even if my subscription ends which is AWESOME. I recommend this app to anyone who asks what type of journal I use. Now let’s talk about customer support!!! I say customer support is superb being able to reach out with an issue or question and have a return call quickly. They also have called me to see if I wanted some training on the app. Who does that in today's crazy world? I LOVE THIS APP!!!
