## What is Notata?

TIMELINE
Scroll back through everything you’ve marked, organized by day. Expand any moment for the full picture — where you were, what it looked like, who was there.

TRIPS
Group your moments into trips. Planning a vacation? Create the trip ahead of time and Notata fills it in as you go. Import photos from your camera roll and let Notata place them on the right day.

LIFELINE
Zoom out and see your whole story — residences, careers, milestones, and moments woven together on a single timeline. Decade, year, or month — you choose how close to look.

APPLE WATCH
Mark a moment right from your wrist. No phone needed.

No account required. No ads. No tracking. Your data stays on your device.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.2.0 — 2026-08-05

• Invite and sign-in links now open Notata directly — and invites are tappable straight from Messages
• Importing photos that span several days or places now creates separate moments, each with its own date, location, and weather
• Photos and videos kept only inside Notata are now part of your iCloud backup, so a new phone brings everything back
• Disconnecting from someone now withdraws moments you sent that they haven't saved yet
• You can delete your sharing account entirely, right from Settings
• Under-the-hood security hardening throughout

### 3.1.2 — 2026-08-03

This update fixes video playback.

• Tapping a video in a moment showed a broken icon instead of playing it. Nothing was lost — the videos were always there, Notata just couldn't open them. They play again.
• Videos your iPhone has moved to iCloud can now be downloaded and played without leaving Notata
• The full-screen photo viewer now rotates to landscape

### 3.1.1 — 2026-07-30

This update is all about reliability:

• Photos and videos now survive app updates and device restores
• A fresh install asks for photo access up front, so restored moments show their photos straight away instead of appearing blank
• Stronger protection for your moments during iCloud backup and restore
• Existing subscribers are no longer asked to subscribe again after an update
• Recover Photos now also finds moments whose photos have gone missing, so you can re-attach them or clear the blanks
• Faster to get around: the map, shared moments, and slideshows have their own buttons instead of hiding inside menus
• Fixes for sharing, slideshows, day grouping, and weather

### 3.1 — 2026-07-27

Slideshows — turn any trip into a slideshow with photo overlays, trip stats, and a route map. Rotates to landscape.
Trip map — every moment as a pin, connected in order by a journey line. Tap a pin to jump to the moment, get directions, or find food nearby.
Save a trip to a Photos album — all photos and videos, organized for sharing, with nothing duplicated.
Faster capture — big Take Photo button goes straight to the camera; long-press + to capture from anywhere.
Trip people — tag people on a trip and they're added to every moment automatically.
Merge moments — combine two moments into one; Notata even offers it when you capture twice at the same spot.
Better everywhere — pinch-to-zoom photo viewer, smarter place names, accurate step counts, trip sorting, Lifeline polish, and photo-safety improvements.

### 3.0 — 2026-07-04

Find Trips in Photos!
Your camera roll already knows where you've been — now Notata can turn it into trips. Set your home location once, then run a scan: photos taken more than 50 miles from home are clustered into suggested trips with dates, place names, and photos. Each suggestion opens as a draft you review — keep it with one tap, or discard it and nothing is saved. Dismissed suggestions stay dismissed, trips you've already logged are skipped, and the entire scan happens on your device. Nothing is
uploaded, ever.

Improvements
• Set a home location from your profile — current GPS or a typed address
• Suggested trips import their photos as moments, ready to edit
• Photo count and page indicators when browsing a moment's photos
• New first-launch walkthrough

Bug fixes
• Apple Watch: marking a moment now works indoors, using Wi-Fi location when GPS is unavailable
• Apple Watch: app name now correctly shows "Notata"
• Trip suggestions now use on-device geocoding for more accurate place names
