### 4/5 — Infinite paper request

*2020-05-21, version 2.4.14*

Thank you for this app. Best writing experience.

I have a request for a scrollable infinite paper.
Not having to keep adding pages, but simply scroll left or down to be able to continue writing.

The printing or pdf format could then again be converted to pages
Hope this is a possibility. Thank you. RM

### 4/5 — Just Needs

*2019-09-25, version 2.4.12*

Just needs type capabilities with fonts, more colors for the bigger size lines, and a big marker size with the bold colors!

### 4/5 — Nothing—NOTHING—is closer to pen on paper

*2019-03-30, version 2.4.11*

This app provides a very simple, clean, and enjoyable iPad environment for writing with Apple Pencil. It is incredible how close to writing on paper this is, even when writing in very small detail. I have 22 (twenty-two!) writing apps (notebook and sketching) on my iPad Pro and this is at least 10 times closer to writing on paper than any of them. Even the most popular note-taking apps do not interpret my handwriting like a physical notepad does (they often fail miserably). Note Always is amazing at making my writing look exactly as it would on paper.

I have only one request. I know this is a simple writing app, but if I could annotate PDFs on this, it would be absolutely perfect for me. Please, please add the feature to import PDFs. This would make it 5-stars!

Thank you for creating this gorgeous app.

### 4/5 — Almost Perfect

*2018-10-25, version 2.1.1*

Great app just needs type support and zoom handwriting to be perfect in my opinion, a redesign of the main page where you see the folders and notebooks would make the app a lot more intuitive as well.

### 4/5 — An update at last!

*2018-10-15, version 2.00*

The app is much better now.

### 5/5 — The best hand writing experience

*2018-02-19, version 1.14.6*

I’ ve been looking so long for an app that could give me the actual feeling and ACCURACY of handwriting. I ve tried many and this is the best.

The only thing is that highlighting is not that good(please see Papers app).

Could we have an option for a monthly “calendar/diary” paper in the next update, please?

### 5/5 — Specifically for making notes = most responsive

*2017-12-25, version 1.14.5*

This is the most responsive note-taking app. It is somehow the most natural to write on this app, as compared to Notability, good notes, noteshelf, note plus.

I use this app specifically to make my own notes and jot down random ideas or doodle, like I would on paper. To me this is a pretty big deal, and justifies this app.

Keep in mind that this app lacks many features. You can not annotate pdf in it. You can not make audio notes etc. Page-turning can probably be improved.

A simple feature unique to this app, which I love the most, is that I can use my finger as an eraser. It also has good pen and colors.

### 4/5 — Really Good But.....

*2017-12-06, version 1.14.4*

I really appreciate this app!

But..... can I give re-names to pages please?

I have not discovered how to do this small step towards easier indexing.

I reiterate that this is a great app!

### 5/5 — Amazing App😍

*2017-10-31, version 1.14.2*

The price tag of this app is what really scared me, and made me doubt in buying it. The app is really good writing and the paper templates are what won me. I used notability to write notes(not for High School nor college). But I really love this app. I would recommend it to anyone. Or watch a YouTube video from "Paperless Student" if not convinced.

### 5/5 — Surprising gem!

*2017-06-22, version 1.12*

Well I was almost scared off buy the price but I took a chance and I'm glad I did. It was just what I was looking for. This app is simplistic and to the point. It doesn't try to do more than it's meant for in my opinion. What I mean by that is many note apps will have a ton of stuff crammed in not that they are not useful but for certain type of note taking the miss the mark. This is an app for people who like using pen and paper to document things in a more natural way. It's difficult for me to explained it's full usefulness but let's just say I like using a composition notebook for my engineering notes and this app is the closest thing to that experience without all the crazy stuff that gets in the way. Keep improving guys love it!

### 4/5 — Really nice with one missing feature

*2017-04-14, version 1.12*

Many apps have poor "writing feel", where it just doesn't feel like you are writing with a real pencil or pen.

That is not the case with Note Always. It's got great "writing feel" and a UI that is not cluttered. You can also move the UI elements around as needed to keep the buttons out of your way (or hide them almost entirely so that it's just you, your Apple Pencil, and the "paper").

The one feature I'd love to see to give this app 5 stars is the ability to import PDF files and see this app listed when I choose "Open In" while exporting a PDF file in another iOS app. As a math teacher this is a core part of my workflow and one thing that I miss. Other than that... great app!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2021-09-13, version 2.4.18*

Way to expensive, poor file organisig, not intuitive menus. Not worth it!

### 1/5 — Complete rubbish

*2018-07-29, version 1.14.7*

To expensive, fails to select when using “circle” mode most of the time. Why would you spend this amount of money when there are much better apps available. I was conned - make sure you are not. Buy something else.

### 1/5 — Refund?

*2018-02-03, version 1.14.6*

You’re paying a whole lot of money for an app you’ll never use. If you’re looking for something to both type and write on, don’t purchase this. It’s a blank page. Don’t waste your money!

### 1/5 — Does NOT work

*2017-12-06, version 1.14.4*

First of all, it does not accommodate left-handed users. Second, if you even rest your hand on the iPad while writing with the Apple Pencil, the app simply freaks out and every line drawn is jagged and filled with noise. Total waste of money. The Notes app that comes free with the iPad is better.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work on iPad Air 2

*2017-08-14, version 1.13.6*

No way to contact app maker

### 1/5 — garbage

*2016-10-22, version 1.07.07*

Asymmetric position of button

### 2/5 — How do I say this nicely?

*2018-12-05, version 2.4.2*

I as a college student am trying to go paperless and I watched videos and reviews online and decided that this app coukd work really well, I paid like 15$ for it and the app is not worth it at all. I can see spending 5$ on it, but that’s about it. The app is not user friendly and doesn’t have a help button to allow for easy tips and tricks other than how to use the eraser. How do I get my money back?

### 2/5 — PDF keeps crashing

*2018-08-28, version 1.14.7*

Great app when writing however, when trying to create PDF it keeps crashing. I really need that PDF feature to work.

### 3/5 — Nice but lacking

*2020-01-18, version 2.4.13*

Nice UI features when writing. But needs folders, continuous vertical scrolling, and an expandable tool bar. Also a way to set defaults. Bug: At page 3 of a note the background reverts to grid. In it’s current state, definitely not worth the price.

### 3/5 — Great app; folder option, please!

*2019-02-13, version 2.4.10*

This is the best note taking app in the market - and I’ve tried lots. Now, I would give 5 stars if folders can be included to help with organising notes.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Perfect for daily notes

*2025-09-11, version 2.4.20*

The writing feels so good! I hope you can add different paper size

### 5/5 — This is the best one

*2022-02-08, version 2.4.18*

If you just want to make notes on digital paper that looks and feels like actual paper, this is the best iPad app for that and it's not even close.

### 5/5 — Smooth writing

*2020-05-13, version 2.4.14*

I have used Notability, GoodNotes 5 and Noteshelf 2, and let me tell you, it feels so natural to write, it may lack some great features from the rest but the experience has no comparison. I will compare to a brand new Mercedes Benz..so smooth to ride...

### 5/5 — Great little app

*2020-05-05, version 2.4.14*

Thought I’d give Note Always a try, having been through many, many iPad note-taking apps. Using this app is a delight! Can’t say that about many others I’ve downloaded. The app is thoughtfully designed and the ease and simplicity of using it is like a breath of fresh air. Very nicely done. Looking forward to many years of frequent use.

### 5/5 — One of the most natural and practical note taking apps

*2019-10-26, version 2.4.12*

I am a user of note apps and constantly search for the best app. I use both free and paid. Note Always has the right balance of natural pen feel and digital use of ink and its manipulation. I am using it for business on a daily basis. An iPhone / Mac version and some basic copy / paste / duplicate capabilities and it will become a front runner in this space IMHO.

### 5/5 — It’s nice!

*2019-05-29, version 2.4.11*

I agree that nothing comes as close as paper on the iPad! It’s the simple things and general approach. I tried many other apps before finding this one. I also like the way photos behave in notebooks.

### 5/5 — The one I keep coming back to

*2018-12-08, version 2.4.3*

Handwriting is great, drawings good. Best is the ability to drag and drop a page of notes into a pdf in another app such as pdf expert.
Beware, its functions are not obvious and the blogs are in Japanese.

### 5/5 — please upgreat it！

*2018-11-09*

please check problem out and correct it，I am still are looking forward to see it

### 5/5 — 草稿纸很好用

*2018-10-08, version 1.14.7*

我喜欢用它写数学( ⁎ᵕᴗᵕ⁎ )

### 5/5 — Very nice writing / drawing app

*2018-04-06, version 1.14.6*

Initially it was a little buggy, but with updates it is much improved. All the users that rated it low should give it another try. The app controls are subtle. You will start appreciating them after you have used the app a few times as they are not distracting when writing / drawing
