It closes by itself all the time when you are writing. You reopen, and it will close over and over again. And before they mention anything, it is updated. It is a consistent problem. I dragged a PDF file to a note in the Mac app and it shows in the note as a box with PDF in it. Clciking on that box and choosing open with Preview did open the document. It took a long time for the PDF to sync to the iphone and when it finally appeared in the note it does not open. Text and image (JPEG) synced OK. After activating sync, there are triplicate of one of the default notes that come with the app on the Mac (i deleted my note). There is no support for tables. Needless to say, I cancelled my subscription the same day. This may well become a good app, but I am done trying half baked apps. Original review: Initially tinkering with the Mac trial version seem to be OK but: 1. No support attachments other than photos/images 2. Copied a link to a note and inserted in Reminders. Clicking on the link opened a different note. 3. Does not support the Share extension. 4. Sync is not available in the trial version, unlike most other software. With the negative comments from other reviews, I would not pay a subscription fee before trying out sync and making sure it works properly. I’ve kept my original review at the end just to provide context to the Dev Response, but before that I figure it’s best to provide an updated version: Originally, due to over a year of no updates and seemingly no online presence, I said Spaces was “great, but it’s undeniably dead”. Which seems unfair in hindsight, given I wouldn’t say the same thing about pen & paper. What I said still stands, it’s a great app. And I paid like £30 for it…I wanna say 4 years ago? If I didn’t receive a single update since purchase, I wouldn’t have complained, because it just works. And while other apps have tried to incentivise me to ‘upgrade’ my ‘lifetime license’ to “enjoy additional features” like…AI integration…Spaces has just been here, the whole time, continuously reliable. I hate that the bar is THIS low, but it is, and Spaces absolutely clears it. I’ve not had a single problem with the app since I first downloaded it, and it has continued to be everything I need in a note taking app and nothing more. Overall it’s an easy 5 stars- too often you see a good app ruined by unnecessary UI overhauls and bloated features, so I’m weirdly thankful for the inactivity. Would be nice to have a dedicated site for future issues though. GitHub Pages are free, so that could be a good option? Oh, and I should mention, I believe the help sections that previously led to malicious websites have now been entirely removed from the app, so that’s no longer a cause for concern ————————— Original Review: I bought lifetime premium access to Spaces a few years ago now, I had already accepted development was dead when I noticed the support links all lead to either malicious spam adverts or for sale domains. But the random update they dropped yesterday after a year+ of no releases has totally cut off my premium plan, with ‘Restore Purchases’ saying that I never brought premium to begin with. I’m inclined to believe the update was pushed by Apple rather than the actual dev team, which is a shame because that likely means I’ll never get any support for this- I’d love to be proven wrong though. The app itself is great, but it’s undeniably dead. And that’s unfortunate, because I dread having to migrate all my notes… ### 5/5 — Pretty great *2024-08-16, version 23.3* This app is pretty great. Markdown, multiple views. I use this app when I need to type and concentrate on writing. It's a good alternative to Ulysses for much less. However I'm afraid it's becoming abandonware, no updates in almost a year, wrote the developer and no response.
