### 4/5 — Almost there

*2025-08-04, version 1.3.0*

It’s checking most of the boxes for casual gaming, but it feels a little incomplete. There’s no introduction for how to play and seemingly no advancement (so purely casual). There are “stickers” which are really fun and feel like awards during gameplay, but nowhere to view them afterwards. I’m also not a fan of the black icons on dark blue text for the Home Screen. Little things that have nothing to do with game mechanics that would really elevate this to five stars.

### 4/5 — Option Needed

*2025-04-16, version 1.3.0*

There needs to be a way of saving one’s progress. Starting from the beginning every time you play is becoming rather droll. Also, the display should be randomized and not be in the same order all the time.

### 5/5 — Simply beautiful

*2025-03-26, version 1.3.0*

Amazing easy to play game that has lots of charm and calming music
Would be nice to have colourful explosions perhaps although I appreciate it would detract from the Nature of the game…

Just a Note the score system is hidden on iPhone’s with a Dynamic Island pls fix thanks in advance

### 4/5 — Be great if…

*2025-03-16, version 1.3.0*

If game saved progress it’d be 5 star.

### 5/5 — Love playing this on my iPad

*2025-02-20, version 1.3.0*

The sounds is sooooo engaging. Love it as a casual game on the iPad screen.

### 4/5 — i really love this game…

*2025-02-09, version 1.3.0*

but i’d love it to be slightly more challenging or something. it’s a lot of fun to play but it quickly becomes repetitive.

and can you see the stickers that you unlock?

i guess i just want more game to the game.

### 5/5 — A Fun and Strategic Artillery Battle!

*2025-02-02, version 1.3.0*

Notebook Artillery is a fantastic blend of strategy and skill, wrapped in a charming hand-drawn aesthetic. The game’s simple yet effective mechanics make it easy to pick up, but mastering the angles and power of each shot adds a satisfying layer of challenge.

The variety of weapons, destructible environments, and strategic elements keep matches exciting and dynamic. Whether playing solo or against friends, every battle feels unique and engaging. If you enjoy artillery-style games with a creative twist, Notebook Artillery is definitely worth checking out!

### 5/5 — Spunkbarn

*2025-01-30, version 1.3.0*

Simply a blast.. no pun intended.

### 4/5 — move buttons

*2025-01-26, version 1.2.1*

I could really spend more time on this game if the buttons were able to be moved to the side of the battlefield for one hand operation. also get rid of the up and down movement
and the big picture of the canon and black powder.

### 5/5 — Right On, Austin Ivansmith!

*2025-01-17, version 1.2.1*

Very fine drawings - dynamite detail! Clean fine lines with realistic touch to detail is quiet appealing, Such a thought provoking game app! I really dig the opportunity to clear out the deadwood! Or lob that ball over everything to drop directly on target! From a military perspective, I’m pleased to recognize the ability to minimize collateral damage by limiting the gun powder and keep the cannon ball close. Or, I can max out the gun powder and utterly destroy the printer on YOUR desk! 😳

A game with Self is my preference and you’ve met the mark, Austin! It challenges my engineering and military experiences in the basic ways - which exercises my aging skills and abilities! Thank you for that, Austin!

Please note… I’m unable to hear sound or music. Please advise.

God bless you and your family, Austin, for your awesome work!

- Eric

### 3/5 — Cool game but lacks objective

*2025-01-12, version 1.2.1*

The physics and artwork are solid but there is no scorekeeping and no real objective. After playing 4 or 5 rounds against the computer doing the exact same thing, you start to get bored. Not to mention the AI is kind of erratic; sometimes it goes way out and in the very next turn it will land 2 feet away, and the turn after that, it actually gets further away, not closer. A human player opponent typically uses previous turns to hone in on your position and make corrections that gradually get closer to you but not this AI. But more importantly, this game has no overarching objective besides blow up the other guy, ad infinitum. There's all sort of tricks that can be used to make it more interesting such as: weapon/defense upgrades, customization of tower/cannon, time-limited shots, trick shots (using ricochet), fog of war (limit visibility), weather effects, boss fights (moving targets/shields), natural disasters (volcanoes, earthquakes, etc.), storyline narrative with quests/objectives like protecting an ally's tower, etc.
This game is a good start but a few well-implemented upgrades would make it a gem.

### 5/5 — A great time waster

*2025-01-07, version 1.2.1*

I adore this game. It’s simple, addictive and endlessly replayable in the vein of Desert Golfing with randomised maps.

### 5/5 — This game is masterfully made

*2024-12-24, version 1.2.1*

I just loaded it and started playing. You gotta get it and try it. You’ll probably find yourself laughing at the memories it brings back if you were into these notebook paper games of old. I am impressed by the simple awesomeness of this game.
Love destroying cactus and trees for some reason, heheheh. Finding the right angle and powder load is really a blast.
It’s $1… and $1 well spent. Thank you AI.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Meh

*2025-08-07, version 1.3.0*

Overall very boring for 99¢, played better versions of this on flash games in 2007…

### 1/5 — So confused this is recommended

*2025-03-04, version 1.3.0*

This game is simpler than an early 2000 flash game and it’s paid? No premise to the game. No substance. Just aiming, add or lower powder and fire. There’s nothing to this game at all. I literally don’t know where the positive reviews are coming from

### 1/5 — Wonderful game

*2024-11-06, version 1.2.1*

I lost to my friend

### 1/5 — Nothing more nor less

*2024-10-01, version 1.2.1*

If you want the most simplest game design with no ads, then this is the game to get. Other than that, it only offers the bare minimum.
Remember that it doesnt have any levels (its procedurally generated), you dont lose unless you quit the game, and hitting target combos have no value.

### 1/5 — Game crashes on ios 12 and 13 on ipad pro

*2024-09-16, version 1.2.1*

Game crashes immediately on ipad pro ios 12 and 13, only shows splash screen for a split second

### 2/5 — Update made it worse

*2026-08-01, version 1.4.0*

Images on my iPad are now smaller. It became more difficult to use. Liked the old version better.

### 2/5 — Not For Me

*2025-07-10, version 1.3.0*

Seems fun but the controls are way too close to the edge of the screen such that they’re in the dead zone where taps don’t register. It’s super annoying to do anything.

### 3/5 — Does not save

*2026-01-08, version 1.3.0*

The game is great but when you stop playing and come back you start from the beginning. Please fix.

### 3/5 — Fun game, but something’s off

*2025-04-06, version 1.3.0*

This is a fun game with good mechanics. However, when playing against other people, something felt off. I don’t know if I was playing against recorded moves of other players, but it was easier than the CPU. They rarely adjusted their shots at all, and no matter how fast I shot my cannon, they always shot at the same time. I don’t think I was really playing against others, so I think the game is misleading. Fun game, but it became rote very quickly.

### 3/5 — Fake physics

*2025-03-13, version 1.3.0*

The physics are not realistic. The cannon ball should go the farthest when fired at a 45d angle (given unchanged power and a flat surface). Allow me to use touch drag left/right up/down to control the power and angle instead of tap the button a bunch (this is 2025, even the 80s had joysticks).

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Scorched Earth-like

*2026-01-27, version 1.3.0*

I’ve been looking for a game like this side 1992 when I was playing ‘scorched earth’ on my PC. This is soooooo fun! Easy to pick up and master, it’s highly addictive, but easy to get your fix in 10 minutes of game play against CPU target practice modes. I haven’t had a chance to play against another player yet, but I am sure it’s just as fun!

One thing the makers could do to improve the game would be to have online multiplayer action with multiple opponents, and not just single CPU enemies.

Aside from the one improvement, I would give it a:

10/10 for gameplay.
9/10 for graphics/animation.
9.5/10 for ease of learning.

9.5/10 for overall score.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2026-01-09, version 1.3.0*

Love the hand-drawn graphics. Reminds me of elementary school and playing games with paper and pencil! The gameplay itself is timeless.

### 5/5 — AWESOME!

*2025-09-09, version 1.3.0*

my brothers and I love this game even though it’s new to us it’s still very entertaining and fun!🤩 great job on this game!

### 5/5 — I love it

*2025-06-20, version 1.3.0*

This is the perfect game for me, no time limit, no shots limit, just endless relaxing gameplay, almost zen at times.
Easy to pick up and able to quit any time. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2025-05-31, version 1.3.0*

Old time feel. Fantastic fit and finish! Excellent!

### 5/5 — Nostalgic and cozy

*2025-05-26, version 1.3.0*

I really enjoy the play style and game mechanics. The game has modes for target practice, player vs CPU, and 2-player, which provides endless fun. This game is a breath of fresh air.

### 5/5 — well done!

*2025-05-24*

gorgeous, fun, i love it!

### 5/5 — A gem of a game

*2025-05-15*

Nicely crafted and fun to play

### 5/5 — Simple But Thought Producing

*2025-05-15, version 1.3.0*

Very relaxing and requires some skill.

### 5/5 — Worth a dollar just for the description

*2025-05-11, version 1.3.0*

Ngl didn’t even open the game yet. Description is solid gold and if the story’s true I wanna help the dev out and if it’s all made up then you deserve the dollar. Or 70% or whatever Apple actually pays you out of it.

May actually play the game sometime.
