## What is Notes Calculator?

Notes Calculator is a smart text calculator: a notepad that does the math as you type.

Write your calculations in plain language, one line at a time, and the answer appears inline:
- Currencies: 100 USD to EUR
- Units: 3 km + 500 m in miles
- Dates: today + 3 days, or the days between two dates
- Percentages: 20% of 250, or 80 + 15%
- Variables: give a value a name and reuse it
- Running totals: total, sum, average, previous, and line references

Everything updates live as you edit, so you can play with the numbers and watch the results follow.

Works on iOS, iPadOS, MacOS and other platforms as well.

What do I get extra with Lifetime access (single-time purchase)?
- Unlimited notes
- Sync notes across devices
- Premium support

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 2.8.1 — 2026-10-19

What's new in 2.8.1:
- Amounts joined by "and" or "or" now add up: "$5 coffee and $3 tea" shows $8.

What's new in 2.8:
- Write naturally: "100 groceries", "3 kg apples" or "$10 for lunch + 15% tip" all show a result.
- New result menu: copy a result, choose its decimal places, or replace it with your own text, like "Total". Hover a result and click ⋯ on desktop, or long-press it on mobile.
- Times add up the way you say them: 2 weeks + 1 day shows 2 weeks 1 day, and date differences show years, months, weeks and days.
- Feet and inches, pounds and ounces: 63 inches shows 5 feet 3 inches.
- New Volume units setting (US, Imperial or Metric) for gallons, pints, cups and spoons.
- Many new units: volts, amps, watts, hertz, rpm, data rates, pixels and more, plus cents and pence.
- Smarter units and currencies: rates like 100 km / 2 h, areas from lengths, and 5 EUR - 3 USD stays in euros.
- Share a note as a link, custom result text included. On phones, long-press a tab for its menu.
- Add up a block of lines with line2...line6.
- Much faster calculations, and long notes open more quickly.
- Lots of fixes.
