To me, it has everything I need, from importing pdfs, exporting notes, great UI, and great Apple Pen integration. However, recently the app isn’t behaving properly. When inside a notebook, and selecting pages from the right side pop up, when selecting an option like “delete all”, the menu doesn’t stay open, no matter how many times you click on it. The notebooks are also having freezing issues, where everything works, except for the apple pen. All that said, it is still my favourite note taking app, and I hope the issues get resolved. ### 2/5 — Switch to Goodnotes? *2025-01-13, version 8.10* I’ve used Noteshelf 2 for 4 years. I use a daily diary which simply has a one page view for each day. Nothing complicated. To save data space I delete pages that have nothing entered. ie I look back over the last month and delete the blank pages. I used to be able to do this using the edit function and delete multiple blank pages in one hit. That’s stopped working, so now I have to find each page and delete it one by one. Also, it’s poor that landscape format does not work with iPad so I am restricted to using portrait. Also, importing a template eg a pink rules page is impossible (or too complicated) and they never fill the page. My daughter uses Goodnotes6 for school and I’m looking at switching to that but it looks tricky to get a very simple daily diary for free. The reviews for Noteshelf3 aren’t good and it has a ways smaller number of reviews so maybe Goodnotes or Notability are better options. ### 2/5 — Free stuff not available *2025-01-08, version 8.10* Love this app but when I try to download free stuff the whole app crashes ### 3/5 — Good, but cumbersome *2024-12-11, version 8.10* Noteshelf 2 & 3 both have some good features. I have used Noteshelf 2 for 9 hours a day for 4-5 years as a student, so I can appreciate what they have done here. Unfortunately, the inability to truly nest folders (within folders) limits Noteshelf’s organization potential a lot. Additionally, after accumulating many notes over the years Noteshelf takes a very long time to open, despite offloading many of my files to the cloud when not in use. These two things are enough for me to look for other options. I think goodnotes has a far superior way of organizing files. Noteshelf should do the same and it would go a long way. ### 3/5 — Copy Feature *2024-12-11, version 8.10* Certain features have stopped working. I can no longer copy pages of one notebook to another. ### 2/5 — Beschädigte Daten *2024-07-09* Um meine Daten zu sichern und diese außerdem auf ein anderes IPad zu übertragen, habe ich die ICloud-Synchronisation aktiviert. Und an dieser Stelle begann das Drama. Die App hängte sich auf beiden Tablets mehrmals auf, Dokumente wurden chaotisch herumgeschoben, fehlten nach Abstürzen der App teilweise. Außer einem Loadingscreen mit "Verschiebe" keine Infos, geschweige denn Eingriffsmöglichkeiten. Doppelte oder dreifache Dokumente wurden wild erstellt, der Überblick verloren. App mehrfach neu gestartet, manchmal nur ein Dokument da, manchmal alle, manchmal ein Paar. Die Synchronisation wieder deaktiviert als alle Dokumente da waren, etwa die Hälfte der Dokumente lassen sich nun nicht mehr öffnen. Kein Zugriff mehr auf wichtige Arbeitsdokumente. iCloud an, ICloud aus, alles egal, die Dokumente lassen sich nicht mehr öffnen. Die beschädigten Dateien sind auch nur noch ein paar Kilobyte groß, normalerweise sind es 20 Megabyte. Dass hier die bloße Aktivierung der Synchronisation ein solches Drama in Gang setzt und wichtige Daten vernichtet werden ist ein absolutes No-Go. Zumindest das automatische Anlegen eines Backups vor der Synchronisation oder der Hinweis darauf wäre wünschenswert gewesen. ### 4/5 — Agregar ver varias pestañas a la vez *2024-03-15* Me encanta la verdad la app, lo único que me gustaría tener sería que se pueda cambiar de un documento a otro en forma de pestañas, así como en good notes, siento que si tuviera esa parte sería perfecta porque uso varios apuntes de libretas distintas algunas veces y eso facilitaría mucho en vez de dividir solo la pantalla. It contains all my clients’ files. I bought a second Apple iPad for my assistant to work on the same files and share with me. Unfortunately, it is impossible to share. I am disappointed. I am still in full control of the files while I could use the much needed help. Elle gelait plusieurs fois par minute, j’étais sans arrêt obligée de fermer et rouvrir l’application. Et à un moment j’ai carrément tous mes documents qui ont disparu d’un coup (5 ans de travail!) et j’ai eu 48h de stress avant de les voir réapparaître. Aucune aide de l’assistance hormis la suggestion de passer à NOTESHELF 3. Comme j’avais absolument besoin de continuer sur mes documents de travail, je suis passée à NOTESHELF 3. C’est la catastrophe. Au moins ça ne plante plus toutes les 30 secondes, mais souvent je ne peux plus travailler du tout sur mes documents car ils sont envoyés sur le cloud et il n’est possible de les récupérer QUE si on est connecté en wifi. Donc ça marche pas avec la puce 4G de l’iPad et ça marche encore moins sans réseau. Impossible de demander de garder un document hors ligne. Parfois même je dois récupérer le même document sur le cloud plusieurs fois dans la même journée!! Mais comme je travaille dans un avion, pour moi c’est la catastrophe. Je cherche donc une solution alternative et suis furieuse des problèmes que j’ai depuis 6 mois avec NOTESHELF. Ils ont réussi à partir d’une appli qui était très bien pour en faire une appli insupportable. ### 1/5 — Add photo function is trash *2024-05-16, version 8.9.6* As Noteshelf has “improved,” it’s functionality has turned to garbage. I’m sooooo glad I kept my copy of Noteshelf Version 1, that’s right, ONE as well as all of my notebooks on it. It’s far better than the “improvements” made. It’s unfortunate that a near-perfect app has turned into a wasteland. An example, add a photo to a page in NS ver. 1 takes 2 steps. In the new and improved takes at least 5 with constant roaming and tapping.
