But these have genuinely replaced my AirPods, and at this price point that feels like it shouldn't be possible. Sound and ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) The bass is punchy, arguably a bit much out of the box, but a quick tweak in the Nothing X companion app sorts that right out. The Active Noise Cancelling is the real shock here. It's not flagship-level, but it's genuinely effective on a commute or in a busy office, which is more than I can say for buds twice this price. Design Nothing's whole thing is minimalist, distinctive design, and it shows. The case feels solid rather than cheap plastic, and the swappable colour cap is a nice touch that AirPods will never give you. It doesn't look or feel like a budget product, even though it's priced like one. Battery and Extras Multipoint connectivity means switching between my laptop and phone without faffing about. Battery life easily gets me through a full day, and fast charging means even a short top up gives you hours back. Splash resistance means I don't panic if I get caught in the rain. The AirPods Comparison This is really the point. AirPods lean hard on the Apple ecosystem glow rather than raw value. You're paying a premium for the logo and the case shape everyone recognises. The CMF Buds match or beat that experience on ANC and features, at a fraction of the cost, and work just as well on Android as they do on a Mac. Verdict For the price, there's no real competition. It is impossible to hear it during calls. I honestly expected Nothing X to have useful iOS widgets, but I was surprised to see that there’s basically nothing available. Please add battery widgets for the earbuds and charging case, with different widget sizes showing the battery percentage of each earbud and the case. It would also be great to have a Lock Screen widget showing the overall battery percentage. I genuinely thought Nothing X would have proper widgets, but when I checked and found nothing, I was honestly surprised. This feels like a strange omission for an earbuds app in 2026.
