If you’re a 90’s kid like me, you’ll most likely remember the Microsoft Office Assistants of yore, from the super-overrated Clippy to super-underrated Links. And let’s face it: we never really used them for their actual function. 

I’m guessing the NotiSprite devs remember them, too. NotiSprite: Smart Desktop Pets seem be the natural evolution of those playful “assistants” from our childhoods. They way more playful and alive. 

Right now as I’m typing this, a cute little fox is walking around the border of my laptop’s screen, doing cute little fox things like blowing bubblegum and singing karaoke. 

Sometimes the NotiSprites will tell you take some deep breaths and think about something else for a minute, or even to take a few moments to look away from your screen and focus on something far off in the distance for a bit. They’re like digital emotional support study buddies!

There’s a few free NotiSprites, like a sentient peach who’s really cool to have vibing on your desktop. Others you can outright buy for a small fee. There’s also a tier where you can buy them all and gain access to future NotiSprites for a one time payment. Worth it!

I always love these kinds of small and creative apps. I'd never seen anything like this on the App Store before, and I'm so glad I tried it out. From the very first time I used it, I was hooked. I've found it's highly customizable, and there are so many ways to play with it. I liked it so much that I got the full version not long after downloading it, and I've definitely enjoyed it. It's truly a hidden gem, and this is why I like to try new apps from time to time—sometimes you find a pleasant surprise like this one.
