I can understand the need to make money but some articles could be subscription only but this is useless now without a payment ### 2/5 — Scrolling down *2024-12-16* What is it with the app that when reading an article and when you need to scroll down to keep reading the article it auto scrolls to the end of the article so then you scroll back up and find where you was ### 2/5 — Articles *2024-02-17* So now it’s dropped down to 15 “free” articles a week before you have to pay to read anymore! My understanding of GDPR in the UK is that it requires the default position that apps do not track unless specifically approved by the user (ie opt-in not opt-out). Don’t even get me started on the comments page... ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Local news is premium *2026-06-20* That is outrageous weather going to be high making people pay to check the weather article when the weather app is free, local news should be free with ads at the most any news kit of Nottingham sure make it’s a premium article but charging for local news is wrong. The re-brand back to Nottingham Post wasn't just a name change, this is now a subscription app. Deleted! ### 1/5 — Notifications don’t work!! *2024-10-16, version 9.3.7* Notifications don’t work on iPhone 15 and no option to switch them on. No app support available. Just went into a big loop of time wasting!! ### 1/5 — Comments *2024-09-21* What is the point of allowing people to comment on posts if the said comments are going to get "Disabled"! The comment I had disabled was a simple comment about how much it would cost me to tax my car if pence per mile was bought in because that was the headline of the article, very disappointed ### 1/5 — Not very accessible *2024-02-12* I installed the app hoping it would be better than the website, but for me it is not. The main website is awful if you are visually impaired like me and need to use large type as the spacing around the title header and adverts enlarges too leaving only enough room to read a line or two at a time. If you use the “Reader” function in Safari you can get the right font size for articles without adverts in the way, but then you can’t read the comments, and the homepage of headlines isn’t enlarged properly and is still obscured by adverts. I tried this app on my iPad which has larger fonts setup for apps that support dynamic type, but not all apps adopt this standard and it would appear the NL app does not either. The font might be slightly enlarged, but is about a quarter of the size I have tried to set it to. The app has an “Accessibility” tab but the only available option is to turn off animations in ads, which doesn’t seem to work anyway. I’m going to delete the app and go back to struggling to see the website. ### 1/5 — Deleted app *2024-02-05, version 9.2.2* Was once my go to app for news but are charging now so bye bye Nottingham live ### 1/5 — Don’t bother!!!! *2023-12-26, version 9.2.1* You’ve now got to pay for a subscription so don’t bother, plenty of better free news apps out there ### 1/5 — Articles copied and duplicated *2023-12-20* Have been unhappy with the fact that they appear to mix news from other sources, repeating previous news items and even poor transactions at times with attention grabbing (and often misleading) headlines as a way of generating views for advertisers Now their is a subscription to view more than around 2 paragraphs of the better articles so a nail in the coffin for me ### 1/5 — Comments Dominated by the Hard Left *2023-09-26, version 8.3.5* Unfortunately the hard left and woke dominate the comments. They harass and insult those who don’t share their ideology.
