Its not fun to play in multiplayer because I don’t get the right lobbies or my guns are way to weak. If they cared enough for the game they would update it. But its not all that bad, besides this is on of the many few actually good offline campaign games. But I have a idea for gameloft, and that is that they remaster n.o.v.a. 1. Its would be really fun and cool to have one kf my favourite games be remastered with a single player campaign and a great multiplayer. They sould also add a setting that allows to to go to the original graphics from the original n.o.v.a. 1. Thank you for reading this and have a nice day! ### 4/5 — Game loft needs to advertise this game (and nova 3) *2022-07-30, version 5.8.0* The nova games have all been very enjoyable it is pretty much like halo for iPad. But there are still minor bugs with a few of the maps. (Falling through the ground, etc) campaign is fine, but the real problem is multiplayer. Since no one knows about the nova games except die hard fans, you can not get a lobby. At first I thought it was because Gameloft was not producing any more games,But then I saw Apple Arcade. If Gameloft were to simply put the nova games on Apple Arcade people would get informed and totally play them. But for now nova is a sitting duck in the world of first person shooters. ### 2/5 — Retro doesn’t mean poor quality right? *2022-05-16, version 5.8.0* The game is concept is a great idea altho it rips a lot of things from Halo but I won’t hold that against them. Halo is the greatest shooter franchise to grace this blue orb. I digress. NOVA Legacy is a great concept that lacks quality in too many categories. The inability to move the buttons is a serious issue. When changing guns, more than half the time I pull down my notification bar. I can change my looks sensitivity so it takes 2 full swipes to get myself turned around. The graphics are pixelated at best. This is not at all what I expected and for that reason it’s a solid 2 stars from me. ### 4/5 — 4 stars for plenty reasons *2022-01-24, version 5.8.0* I have realized into 4 weeks of playing this game that you don’t even need skill to play all you need is luck and that is very disappointing. Not to mention the fact that there’s a system where you can self aim, and on the other side of luck all you need is a couple rush packs diamond packs etc. And boom you can kill everybody and another thing. Once you get some good guns you can start killing most noobs whose damage is below 200 same goes for shield. And then start getting coins and more currency’s and eventually be one of the top players in the game. And then there’s barely any campaign missions seriously only 19. The only things you can do when you finish the game is play multiplayer, play for events, shadow missions and that’s really it. And there’s only one event which is Rush. The game hasn’t updated in 2 years and really needs some improvements. ### 4/5 — Needs some changes *2021-11-01, version 5.8.0* The game to me is fun and all, and the graphics are great, but there is some work that needs to be done. First of all is the packs system, in order to gets cards for just one decent weapon you have to spend around 10-20 dollars, and it won’t even garntueed you unlock the card because the higher the rarity, the more cards you need to get to unlock it. Second is the multiplayer matchmaking, if you are new to the game or somewhere in between, you’re basically toast against other players, because new players will go against players who have maxed out weapons and can kill people with legendary armor on in one shot. Please fix this and make the game better. ### 4/5 — Great Game, but Two Concerns *2020-09-06, version 5.8.0* Great game overall, but my first complaint is the “excess tokens” function. I recently competed in an event, and received 150 event tokens (enough to buy a rush pack). I went into the event store, and an “excess token” screen popped up, forcing me to convert my event tokens into coins. There is no way to dismiss this screen, and it literally FORCES you to convert the event tokens into coins, therefore taking away the ability to get a rush pack. Last thing is that for some reason, even when connected to a strong signal of WiFi, I can’t watch adds. Why not? ### 4/5 — Good game muy multiplayer needs some work *2020-03-26, version 5.8.0* I like the game it’s well made and fun. The campaign is short but interesting and gets you ready for multiplayer. My only problem with the game is that the multiplayer is a bit unfair because you tend to get matched up with people who may have 500 defense armor when you only have 250 armor and weapons at 220 which compared to their weapons which are at 400 range. This makes for a very unfair match in which one player just decimates the rest of the players on the map. My suggestions is that matches should be set up so people with similar weapon and armor score are matched up against each other so they can play and have a good time and not be stopped from playing the game. Otherwise than that the game is great and I would recommend it to others! ### 2/5 — Server issues *2020-03-21, version 5.8.0* I love the game Both the offline and online multiplayer mode, but my biggest complaint is the matching of players, it’s unfair in the sense that someone with a ridiculous level of armor and guns would be paired against lesser players and then it just becomes a bloodbath and not a match so please work on your player matchup. My second complaint is the fact that whether you’re playing a multiplayer match using WiFi or LTE and you swipe down your notifications to either reply a message or even turn down your brightness the server disconnects, like come on it’s really frustrating Fix it else even as a long time fan, I’ll have no choice but to uninstall. ### 3/5 — Payers only *2020-02-25, version 5.8.0* So I was there playing the game then a event showed up and not playing any multiplayer I thought meh worth it and that the day I noticed if you couldn’t tell from the title THE MULTIPLAYER IS FILLED WITH PAYERS I can not go into a game without some guy paying 100 dollars for all the newest over powered weapons I know you need money but it’s ruining the multiplayer as new players will encounter from pay to win “noob” and get frustrated by it so all I’m asking is for you to add in some mode in multiplayer or events where you can’t bring any weapons you paid money for Also the small team behind working on this the community has a word of advice for you that will make us happy Bring Back N.O.V.A 3 for the iOS and by nova 3 I mean the free version ### 3/5 — Consider it a stand alone *2019-11-05, version 5.8.0* If you are looking for a classic shooter delivered at high quality - this isn’t it. This game disappoints the Nova family in terms of story, length, quality, and content. But that’s because I think it’s designed to be something different. It has an almost arcade feel and style - it’s a compact game with similarities to Nova, but it ultimately is a different breed. It’s not a game designed for long periods of gameplay at once and is better received as ten minutes here, 15 minutes there. The upgrades available to avatars really make the multiplayer skewed. Also, prepare to be slaughter by ads. There are sooooooooo many everywhere. But it’s free. ### 4/5 — Great game! *2019-05-18, version 5.5.1* Here's what I'm running: iPhone 4S on iOS 9.3.5 (dual core Apple A5). This is a really nice game, with great graphics, although I wish Gameloft would fix the bug where it crashes during a game and you either have to open it up all over again or just forget about it. However, I really love it other than that. It supports iOS 8 and later, which is fortunate for me because I can only run iOS 9 at the highest. Most apps nowadays require iOS 10 or later, but I'm glad Gameloft still made an exception for older devices like mine. The performance is a bit laggy, but most of that is because I'm running it on an old iPhone. Overall, super great game! ### 4/5 — Truly a good game *2019-03-03, version 5.5.1* I don’t typically like games such as this one (mobile fps) but this one is actually pretty fun. I just got it today so I don’t have a whole lot of experience with the game or any bugs it may have. The only thing that I would like to be changed is the whole “auto-shoot” bull crap. While it is convenient at times, I would prefer an option in the settings to turn it off. Also please add aiming down the iron sights on all guns and not just the sniper. These two things don’t really affect the gameplay and this is still a good game whether or not they add these things. I do recommend this game to anyone looking for a decent fps, and don’t listen to the negative reviews because if you don’t like the game you can just easily delete it. I’ve been all about nova since the first one. I played the hell out of nova 3 when time allowed at sea. Anyone that has done something similar knows how much it can mean, as far as your choices of games to bring out there, even if you hardly get time to play them. Anyway. I read the reviews from other die-hard nova fans, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried. But I decided to say screw it and try the game anyway. Not many people will likely agree with me, but I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised. I’m all about progress leading things in new directions, and we all know game loft excels at keeping with the times. So all things considered, I see this as a sort of anniversary/new experiment that I’m pretty into. No, it’s not a carbon copy of the first nova. I was hoping it wouldn’t be. They said they made improvements, and they did. As I hobby I write, and when I revise a personal story, I’ll change whatever I need to to create what I want the result to be. I see the exact same process here and I’m all for it. Also I have nova 3 downloaded for when the nostalgia is hitting hard, or the WiFi cuts out. So basically, I don’t think it’s that bad at all, and I’m gonna keep playing. I recommend trying it for yourself before letting other’s opinions be your own ### 4/5 — Fix this *2019-01-14, version 5.5.1* Nova legacy is a great game. I have had it almost since growing up. The guns are great, the colors are awesome. But ever since the start of 2019 random adds will appear and make me buy or hit something I didn’t want to. Plus I want the online gaming to be in the exact same place as the missions not a version of it and make it easier for us to gain legendary guns quick as well, maybe even let us start out with one? Over all nova is a great game, just needs a few adjustments and 💥 we will all be fine and I am sure my fellow gamers will agree with me. ### 2/5 — Being back the old NOVA! *2018-12-29, version 5.5.1* I remember a few years back when I played NOVA 3. It was an amazing game. Better than Halo or Call of Duty at the time. As I slowly drifted away from NOVA, I missed its immersive and enjoyable gameplay. So I went back on the App Store a few months back, and attempted to look for a NOVA game. What I found was this. I couldn’t wait! It looked so awesome that they were bringing back the NOVA games! I was so excited to play it that I didn’t even LOOK at the reviews or anything. I loaded up the game which took no time at all, and noticed something. Something about the menu screen was off. Something just didn’t seem... right. I played some of the campaign, and I’m sad to say that I was disgusted at the change in gameplay that it had added. It was almost nothing like the NOVA games of the past that we all know and loved. And the sensitivity. No matter how much I changed it it felt like it did nothing. Please make a new game that ISN’T seven dollars and fits the NOVA series better. I’m not giving one star because I used to love the NOVA games. ### 2/5 — Fun at first but then super boring *2018-12-16, version 5.5.1* This game is a terrible phone game and the reason I’m rating it 2stars is because there are a bunch of things I don’t like about the game. First off the multiplayer is awesome but after a while it gets boring because there are only two different modes in it, also there aren’t a lot of maps so that just makes it even more boring. What makes matters worse is that one of the only ways you can get cool stuff is by playing a ton of multiplayer. Also whenever I do play multiplayer and I accidentally swipe the notifications down it disconnects me from the game. Plus I don’t think that you should have to spend energy to play campaign, I mean it’s just annoying. Then there are the adds. I keep on getting adds about how it is a bad idea to smoke and vape over and over again, I don’t smoke! I’m getting tired of this and if it just doesn’t stop I’m just going to move on to fortnite mobile. 😔 ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — N.O.V.A Legacy: A Disgrace to the Series *2021-08-04, version 5.8.0* N.O.V.A was a great series until they killed the first two installments and replaced them with this disgrace of a game. Let’s see…we have loot boxes, no voice acting, an energy system. The recipe that takes the fun out of a game. Furthermore, the amount of glitches present in this so called “remastered” version is utterly frustrating and atrocious. Soon after I completed the campaign and received some of the best epics from gold packs using free gems, the game suddenly crashed and refused any attempts to open (I kid you not). All that time and effort I spent collecting items, upgrading them, and completing levels…gone. The same happened when I played Asphalt 8 some years ago. It is a middle finger to the customers. I would like to play my first N.O.V.A, not this crap. But we don’t have that kind of luxury, do we? There is no way I’ll be spending time playing this game again. The paywall was frustrating as it was. Will be deleting. The only game from this company that is even worth playing is N.O.V.A 3. ### 1/5 — A Horrible Tribute to a Once Great Game *2021-04-18, version 5.8.0* I played all the original nova games when they came out and this game feels so commercialized that it’s hardly the same game anymore. Ignoring the fact that this game is entirely pay to win and basically follows the textbook boilerplate of creating a game with no substance, I’m going to give an honest review on the look and feel of the gameplay. The old NOVA games had incredible atmosphere. Whether it was in the voice acting, or sound design, or the bloody and gritty settings, it felt good. This game has none of that. No voice acting, no punchy and powerful weapon sounds, no blood or violence. Instead of feeling like a horror shooter, it feels like a boring role playing game. The enemies even have displayed levels next to their health bars, things that I don’t even recall existing in the original games. Imagine you took all the old NOVA games, and stripped them of everything cool so you could ship it to China and the CCP would approve. That’s the NOVA Legacy you’re getting. CCP NOVA. I’m going to look for my old Ipad so I can play the old NOVA games and remember them fondly. They don’t deserve a send-off like this. ### 1/5 — Why is this a downgrade? *2019-06-25, version 5.5.1* Instead of having a better game, with more features, the game is a worse compared to its predecessors. Why is there no option to scope with assault rifles, a feature that is not missing in much older games. This game also doesn’t feel nearly as smooth in terms of controls as something like NOVA 3 or modern combat 5 or even modern combat 3. This retro approach can be done well, like the Wolfenstein games, but here it just a feel like a lazy decision. Even when I turned the sensitivity down to 1% I still had trouble navigating a hallway. This game worked better on my iPhone 7, and it seems worse on the iPhone 10. On the iPhone 7, the games smoothness was mediocre, but the switch to an iPhone 10 makes the controls much less fluid. Even if the controls operated like butter, the game itself would still be eh at best when compared to past games. The servers are also rather trite. A game like PUBG will have really good connection, and something like Modern Combat 5 will have passable connection, but this game’s connection is pretty bad. You also can not modify the control layout so that the trigger button is not in the very corner of the screen. It’s not a good sign when the gameplay gets better because you turned on auto fire when enemies are on target. ### 1/5 — No. Just... No. *2019-02-17, version 5.5.1* It’s awful, for the most part. This is the first Nova game I’ve ever played but it’ll probably be the last. The campaign is lackluster but playable (not enjoyable, just playable) and runs on the infamous energy system, the multiplayer is absolute garbage and the weapons system relies on not-so-subtle gambling in order to make purchases - you’re not allowed to spend in-game currency to buy weapons. Upgrades are the same thing - you need to open case after case after case in order for that impossible chance that you get what you want. You won’t. It’s a greedy and disgusting move and I won’t be playing anymore if this is how the game works. It’s not a retro, old-school shooter like Gameloft says - it’s a gambling machine and money sink thinly disguised as a game. ### 1/5 — This game is a great example of how not to do a remake or reboot *2018-12-10, version 5.5.1* Back in the good old days of mobile gaming, I remember playing the NOVA trilogy on both my iPhone and iPad. The gameplay in those games were marvelous (though NOVA has better gameplay imo.). Once I heard that a remake of the series is announced I was excited that we are having another NOVA game. But as soon as I see more details, I was getting less excited as it is announced as a free P2W game. Nevertheless I downloaded the game and to find out that the system of this game is very similar to Brothers in Arms 2 Plus edition but twice as worse. Energy limits, chopped-up campaign and of course the ‘wonderful’ P2W nonsense. Gameloft, what were you thinking? You had one chance to make this reboot a good reboot and maybe I could enjoy a bit more like the first NOVA. But, no. You disappoint me, instead you decided to make this like any F2P game that uses the horrendous P2W garbage so that you could squeeze more pennies from the players dry in the long run. ### 1/5 — I love this game *2018-11-15, version 5.5.1* I love this game I really do. I have played this game for a long time and have always really gotten into it but it is also the first game to make me mad enough to write a review. I recently bought a bunch of high dollar crates and afterwards it won’t stop crashing. During the crate opening proses it crashed something like ten times before I was able to get them all open. Afterwards I deleted the game and reinstalled hooding that would clear it up but now it won’t even open without crashing. I really want to give the game a good review but I can’t because I actually spent both time and money on this game and now it won’t even work. If this could be fixed I would happily Chang this review but I really want to be able to at least play the game. ### 1/5 — They ruined a classic. *2018-11-10, version 5.5.1* This game was once my favorite game of all time. It provides tons of content, weapons, and fun times. I used to play the old nova on my iPhone 4 a long time ago. And I saw this in the App Store and thought that I should give it a try. I downloaded it and hopped in the multiplayer expecting the same experience as before. Nope! It runs like garbage. They’ve locked it at 30 FPS and they’ve overhauled the controls. You can’t jump, shoot on command, etc. I haven’t found a vehicle like the old game provided. And the auto shoot option is complete garbage. I can’t even aim down sights. What even is that. The campaign is trash. Don’t even try it. I’m sure they had a different developer team for this game. And my god they did a terrible job. Screw you guys for ruining one of the best FPS titles on the App Store. You can’t make a game properly. You’re hopping on that bandwagon of “let’s make this stupid thing that tells you how to do everything and you can’t skip it fast. Do NOT download this. ### 1/5 — Optimized for iPad *2018-10-10, version 5.5.1* I wish I could rate this twice. Once on my iPad with a high rating. And then a second time with this rating from my phone. However, giving a 5 and saying everything is all good would be a disservice to those playing on a cell phone. I’d rather criticize with a chance of the problem being fixed. That being said. The graphics and gameplay of this game is stellar. I mean think about it. We’re on mobile devices and this is just as fun as when I played call of duty 4 on Xbox 360 as a teenager. It blows my mind. It rly does. There’s rly only one thing that is a major major buzzkill for me. The sensitive settings on a cell phone are unenjoyable. It’s WAY too sensitive. Aiming is just about impossible. I put the sensitivity bar all the way to 0 and it felt as if it literally did nothing. On my iPad it’s perfect. I turn down the sensitivity and aiming with a touch screen is as enjoyable as it could possibly be. Playing on the phone is just about impossible. If I want my avi to take a full 10 seconds to make a complete 360, then via the sensitivity setting, that should be a possibility. That’s what the sensitivity bar is for. If they could patch this and let us ACTUALLY control the sensitivity on this smaller screen that would be so much better. Because then I can play on either device when it’s most convenient. Anyways. If they fix this I have zero problems revising and giving a 5 because it’s playable on multiple devices instead of being locked down to just one. ### 1/5 — What happened? *2018-08-12, version 1.3.2* I remember back in 2012, I came upon a game called N.O.V.A 2. As a 13 year old then, I was amazed by how great the app was! All I had was an iPod Touch 4th gen and it was the best app of all my games then. I would play multiplayer every night! It was a memorable one. Then came out nova 3! It was twice as good as the 2nd! I just couldn’t let it down! I mean sure it was like $7 but for what it was, it was worth it. My point being, when I just happened to search the App Store and see if Nova 4 was out, I was surprised to even see this. I was like, WOW it took them 5+ years to come out with this! It must be great! However, when I launched the game.. I was really disappointed.. it compared nothing to the 2nd or 3rd nova series game.. they added energy, downgraded the graphics by far worse than Nova 1.., the story is not really interesting, voice acting was cut out, it just wasn’t as immersive as it used to be. About to be 20 and would have loved to experience the joy I felt when I was 13.. I guess I’ll just be looking up the Nova 3 app trailer to somewhat experience it again, since the apps are no longer on the AppStore to download. Nice Review IC3FLY! ### 1/5 — Total Downgrade *2018-06-29, version 1.3.2* After seeing an old rival, MiD_V3N0M, write a review I thought Id write one too. Like him, NOVA 2 was my jam when i was 13, I was addicted and could not stop playing. I remember all the fun times with half-jumping your way out of the map, double tapping the fire button as fast as possible to hit the quickscope headshots with the sniper, the god awful hackers with the rocket spams (ill admit, i even got so tired of it i became one of them for about 10 levels) and insane time to kill on the alien lightning gun, and how can i forget the good old skin colors, man i miss those! I rocked the black and turquoise/blue skin. :’) so awesome. Then NOVA 3 came out and it was awesome as well! It added weapon sway, ADS, some crazy aim assist for the sniper and railgun, improved graphics, a super hot Yelena, and friggin jetpacks! So many memories in both games that i thought this nova legacy would carry on, but alas, this game is trash. Graphics are terrible, campaign missions take 5 minutes, no voice acting, and the ability to aim and shoot is just trash. Not to mention the hitboxes in the campaign expand outside the actual enemy character. Never even played multiplayer on this. Anyway, I was really disappointed to wait about 5 years and have this crap show up. Really hoping NOVA 4 will be as epic as NOVA 2 and NOVA 3. For anyone who made it this far, I miss the old days too. However it has extremely good graphics for a 72 mgb game. The gun play is smooth, the movement isn’t slow or clunky. The OFFLINE campaign mode is king. Yes you can’t customize your hud. But u get aaa quality gameplay in an extremely small sized game. I love how your beginner guns are not pieces of junk. So I would recommend this game the way it to anyone. Installed, iPhone 7 Plus with latest iOS. Game will not load. It’s as if it’s loading a tiny bit further each time I try it, so eventually I was able to tap campaign or whatever and see the loading screen again. Yes, I’ve re-installed and restarted and cleared cache and followed the troubleshooting guide on the Gameloft site. No, I don’t have any other issues whatsoever with my phone or any other game or app. Yes, I’m telling you this $#!+ is broken, and I’m frustrated because I liked the content so much in the past. And while I’m at it, make a new Modern Combat campaign, why don’t ya. ### 5/5 — The game is good *2018-11-02, version 5.5.1* I love this game, I have always loved your nova games, but there is just one thing that bothers me. Why don’t you update nova 3, specifically the freedom Edition? I loved that game with all of my heart, I used to play it everyday I came back from school. But one day that all ended because the game said I could not play it because it did not update to the latest version on my iPad. I wanted to ask if you can please bring back this game, this was literally the only game I played and enjoyed. I do not know if you the developer would actually read this, but if you can update it here is the latest iOS version, 12.1 . Please bring back this game. And i’ve been reading the reviews for this game and almost %100 of your costumers dont like the game either. But everyone loves NOVA3 so my question to you GAMELOFT is WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING ???????!!! When instead of working on this trash game that is going no where; you start working on improving Nova3 !!!! Which it is literally the best game I’ve ever played on my phone. But it needs a lot of improvement for example some sort of anti hacking, fixing all the glitches for every map, making the graphics better, maybe new weapons, new maps, ect..... (This is for multiplayer only, i dont care about the campaign mode) and you should advertise the game which you haven’t done at all!!!! It is almost like Gameloft doesn’t care about their best game ever created. Look I’m sorry and I love Nova but first of all people who are starting out don’t even know the series so update the older games. Second. AND MOST IMPORTANT. This doesn’t begin to compare to the other Nova games especially NOVA 3 which I loved but can’t play it anymore because it’s not updated to iOS 11.4. If you can bring back the older games I’m sure more people will play EVERY GAME and it will become popular again. I know it. So please just update it. ### 5/5 — Some things that need improvement *2018-05-19, version 1.3.2* The game is good but I would really like it if there was an aim button and if gameloft could update nova 3 for the new iOS or maybe make a nova 4 or at least make nova legacy have better graphics and kinda make it like nova 3 and no voice actors. I also like the thing where you could blast aliens with that hand cannon thing so I think it would be best if you just updated nova 3 or please make a nova 4 with good graphics and voice actors and things that you could do in nova 3 local multiplayer without Facebook or social media would be great. ### 5/5 — Love the story, hqte the multiplayer *2018-05-11, version 1.3.2* First off I love the story, it’s great, and just as involving as the last game. But I hate the multiplayer mode. Why? Because of the matching system. I will go against people that either payed money to get items, or it will be me and one other person against four people. This is very flawed, and on the occasion that I do win, the system either works correctly and makes a 3 v 3, or I am against two people with a squad of 4 to back me up.
