Not really worth it in my opinion if for every 100 applications you’re getting maybe 1 job… ### 2/5 — A great idea wasted *2026-03-01, version 0.117.3* I was a huge supporter of this app when it first launched. Unfortunately greed has become the company’s priority when jobs are being offered and notified to me that I can’t even apply for without paying for a membership. Before you could apply to jobs without a paywall now every job that mentions your role requires a monthly fee in order to apply, even the jobs that are remote! I would understand if it was specific features such as city and filters for clients but remote work that I get notifications for is unacceptable. The app began as a close community of invite only creatives that can work across the world. I had many opportunities given to me and was grateful for the app’s motives. However it seems that they have sacrificed the platforms freedom for greed and forced its users to pay for a subscription for a chance to even get the job. But I consistently run into issues with uploading new work, the desktop platform doesn’t work well, and the amount of jobs vs what you pay per year doesn’t feel as valuable as it could. Referral based applications made sure everyone on the app was real. Now it’s basically useless as they added a subscription service, AND they are updating it so you can invite people now. I’m guessing the paywall dropped a lot of users and now they are being less picky about who they let on the app. Huge disappointment. ### 2/5 — Selling Hope - a short essay *2025-08-07, version 0.116* In our wasteland of a freelance creative world, there is no greater asset than hope. This app locks hope behind a paywall. I was there pre-paywall and I got no work despite being overqualified for most jobs I applied to and only applying to projects that absolutely suited my style. Some of the interactions I had with potential new clients felt a little weird. Like AI bot weird (this isn’t an accusation but that’s how it felt) If any job paid more than $800 there would be 120+ applicants lol. Of course the app and its owners use kind, thoughtful words to describe their aspirations but really the only people benefitting here are the two dudes who started it. With their millions in private equity funding and first dibs on any good creative work that comes through. ### 3/5 — Race To The Bottom *2025-08-02, version 0.115.1* I’m fine with paying the annual fee of $100 if it means adding a new client or two to my roster, but the jobs being posted have laughable rates. Great app for a someone green looking to build their book. I agree it is difficult to get accepted but once you do, this is a game-changer. No way I’d have gotten to the attention of the brands that have now seen my work or hired me or may hire me in the future. And maybe the most valuable benefit is the chance to collaborate with other creatives whose work I admire. Before the NOVA pro paywall, I rarely booked a single project because hundreds and hundreds of people applied to every posting.
