### 3/5 — Freezing on the Chart screen

*2026-02-02*

This is a great app that I have been using for many years. Would give it 5 stars for its functionality and simplicity, however lately it has started to freeze when navigating the Chart screen. Have to shut it down a few times before it comes to life again. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

### 4/5 — Freezes with iOS 26

*2025-12-13, version 2.3.1*

Love this app and have been using it for a few years. I just got a new iPhone and am now intermittently experiencing freezes where the app is completely non responsive. I hope the developers can fix this soon! I don’t want to have to find another app. This one is great for my needs.

### 4/5 — Intuitive interface but freezes

*2025-09-20, version 2.3.1*

I love this app, it’s very useful. The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is because it freezes when I open the app to view my time tracking data. When I change my view (day, week, month) it freezes and doesn’t allow me to change my view again or do anything else on the app. I have to restart the app over and over. Using English version.

### 4/5 — Very good but needs an Apple Watch app

*2025-03-24, version 2.3.1*

Thank you for the excellent app that is simple and convenient. Only one suggestion: please make an Apple Watch app. Thanks a lot!

### 4/5 — Im Großen und ganzen voll zufrieden!

*2024-10-14*

### 2/5 — Stops working often

*2024-10-13*

The “then” section hangs very frequently.

### 4/5 — Good app. Could use a few tweaks

*2024-08-31, version 2.3.1*

Great app. Love all the sections, color coding and sub tasks. Only thing I wish it had was integration between my iPad and my phone and for it to run on the background of my Lock Screen but when I inquired, they were responsive and said they were working on it.

### 4/5 — Interesting

*2024-06-22*

It's one of those apps that you want to learn to use. So that's already a good thing. I think one of the main things that can be updated if possible is the wiglet. It gives you option of opening the drop down list of tasks you set up to track. But if I click on a task, it takes me to the "then" page that has everything summed up. At bare minimum it should take me to the now page so I can click on which ever task I need to start tracking (the way it does with a task already being timed in background). Ultimately would be nice to hit play and stop in the wiglet section, but I don't know if this is an option. I also find the play/stop buttons rather small. I sometimes hit the description instead of the play/stop. Also, personally, I hold my phone with left hand and tap on stuff using right hand. So the fact that these important play/stop buttons are all the way on the left side of the phone makes it more of a commitment. I already see this wouldn't be the best app to use on the go. Only for stuff you sit down at a desk and have time to slowly and carefully select. Also the weekly view. I'm not sure (with so many other options available) how come it's not an option to scroll instead of jumping week to week. Also don't understand why is the current day of the week highlighted when viewing future weeks. I understand highlighting current day on any colander as a point of reference. Also like others said, can't track stuff simultaneously. I'll be looking out for updates, but maybe this is just not for me.

### 5/5 — Unique approach to an age-old question

*2024-04-30*

One of the aspects I love about this app is you are ultimately in control of what you do and when you do it. Maybe, it’s me, but too many organisational apps have your life mapped out! And that to me is pressure and overkill. You can create as many sub-task levels as you like. What I also love about this app is it’s intuitive and simplified approach to setting up, and getting things done. I found if I have a question, the developer would get back to me within 24/48 hours. If there’s one thing I would wish for it’s the ability to put an hourly rate for work carried out for clients, but that’s no biggy as you already have time calculated.

### 5/5 — Great Time Tracker

*2024-02-29, version 2.3.1*

See what you spend your time on! I was looking for an app that allows you to log your time in categories or activities and this is great! It is fun to see the chart of how you have spent your day. It helps to bring more balance to the activities you pursue. Also great for work. Boss wanted to see what we work on all day and now I can show exactly what projects or tasks I was working on and for how many hours each day. Love it!

### 5/5 — LOVE + suggestions

*2023-12-06, version 2.3.1*

all the features anyone who wants to track practically every second of their day like I do! LOVE LOVE LOVE subtasks, the blocked time display, and the data!

suggestions:
+ widgets so you can put a few most used tasks as homepage buttons instead of having to click into the app to start them every time
+ idk how this would work but maybe an optional to do/should do? like for example I know I need to block out 90 minutes of calc during an evening but I have other stuff that might happen or run long, so instead of blocking it in and having to delete/modify later, I just have some kind of visual that tells me I need to do a certain task around a certain time
+ CUSTOM COLORS please I’m running out

### 5/5 — Changed my life

*2023-11-11, version 2.3.1*

I’ve used this app daily for six years now, it has completely transformed my life. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the creators of this app! And please never stop supporting it 🙏🏾

### 5/5 — Simple PDF Reports

*2023-09-13*

I would love to have a simple PDF-Report via open in. 😊
Keep it up! 👍

### 4/5 — Awesome app! Just 2 request

*2023-08-06, version 2.3.1*

Can there please be a pause button?
Sometimes I’ll rest for 5 minutes but right now I have to press stop…
Otherwise time record isn’t accurate
But that’s just too much work…
Instead of pressing on pause and resume
I have to stop
Create new event for rest
Then stop rest event
Then create new event (for the same thing I was doing before…)

Also sometimes I do 2 things in parallel,
So it’d be great to be able to somehow reflect that

### 5/5 — とてもすばらしい

*2023-06-29*

とても素晴らしいのでアプデしてApple Watlhやウィジェットに対応して欲しいです

### 5/5 — I’ve been using it to track my waking hours

*2023-06-18, version 2.3.1*

Update: I’ve been using Now then daily for over a year and I love it. I would love if I could search for tasks/events etc with a search function to merge or get rid of duplicate tasks and to filter by search term rather than by category, because I have different categories with the same topic/event name assigned to them. I do like that the developer seems to respect privacy, as they collect no information and there are no ads. —-prev.review— Actually kept up with it. Would be great if: —you can compare then and now charts. Currently I delete the “then” activities that I don’t do at the allotted time. A prompt to migrate undone “then” activities would allow us to keep a concurrent record of “now” entries. Without ability to measure projected event times with the time those events actually happened if at all, I’m not sure what the distinction of Now and Then is supposed to reveal and how to apply that to improve realistic time alloting. —a search bar to find activities, categories, etc, by typing in the short name, keywords, or hashtags, would be immense. Although I’ve improved my ability to taxonomise, the time it takes to train my brain to remember where I listed that activity under what rubric, is enough to discourage me from making a Now entry. The app allows for us to move and reclassify and create new items easily; I love that. This allows for a refinement of priorities as you see where activities fall under which categories. This process takes awhile. This same freedom to modify and refine means that the interface is constantly changing as it forms according to ones lives experience. This malleability means navigating to the desired event/category etc can be time-consuming, enough to deter me from making a Now entry and putting it off until I can enter them in post. Hope that makes sense. Thanks! I found out about this through Lettie Blue’s skillshare class. Just wanted to give a shout out to her for pointing out this app and presenting it in such an appealing way❤️

### 5/5 — Für mich nicht mehr wegzudenken

*2023-06-13*

Endlich ein Tool, was nur das tut, was es soll; habe mir die Pro-Lizenz gegönnt, ist definitiv empfehlenswert

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not getting updated…

*2024-08-08*

In the latest ios update, starting to fail and sync… no response from feedback team so time to move on I guess… would avoid from now. It is 4 years since any update and no longer works seriously

### 1/5 — Not working

*2024-02-15, version 2.3.1*

Just paid and i am unable to add a task.

### 1/5 — Apple Watch Kompatibilität

*2023-08-12*

Eigentlich perfekte App.

### 1/5 — deutsche

### 1/5 — No iCloud sync now?

*2022-12-17*

Has this app stopped being updated? I see the last version was submitted over 3 years ago! I bought the pro version specifically in order to sync between iPhone and iPad but the function simply doesn’t work. The button to turn iCloud on is greyed out and it just says “searching” on both devices. I’ve tried the trouble shooting in the hints and tips (turning it off and I again and double checking all settings) but no luck. Feeling rather disappointed (and cheated) to think that this app has been abandoned by its creators 3 years ago and that despite still being sold it no longer functions properly on iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.

### 1/5 — Not very user-friendly

*2021-02-12, version 2.3.1*

The app is quite unfriendly to use. It does not offer much more than using an excel file.

### 1/5 — Should be four stars.... (five when a MacOS version is produced.)

*2020-03-08, version 2.3.1*

And I thought it was when I first tried out the basic version so immediately bought the pro version. Setting up all the categories was easy, starting, stopping a time block all fine.

But now I want to export data and I can not find any way to do that. I’m supposed to be able to export via email, into another app(numbers?), and sync with other devices. I have not been able to do any of these. I’ve searched all of the settings to no avail. The FAQ’s are worthless. So I sent a message to tech support yesterday (a weekday) morning and have yet to here anything from the developers.

I had such high hopes. It is looking now like a big waste of time.

### 1/5 — Can you make sync better?

*2019-12-24, version 2.3.1*

I heard this app was good so I purchased pro without hesitation.

Now I’m having an annoying issue to turn on the sync with iCloud. Don’t know either apple or this app to blame.

Bad bad experience.

### 1/5 — please update

*2018-10-07*

pomodoro type is recommended for many users.

the 'Then' page doesn't show the total time..
why is that?
only chart page offers that.
it is uneasy to use it.

please update application as soon as possible.

**Developer response:** You can get reminders using the Remind Me function in Settings > General. If you want a 25 minute timer for each task you run this lets you set one up - this can somewhat simulate a Pomodoro style of working. We plan on expanding this function sometime soon to offer the ability to set different reminder lengths for each task.

The Then screen is all about the chronological history of recorded events, whereas Chart is all about the total time recorded for each task. That's the main reason the total time appears on there, it is the natural home for this feature.

I'm sorry you don't think it is easy to use. Now Then was designed to let you record, in real time, what tasks you were working on as efficiently as possible. We think we can make this still better, but the basic style and operation of the app is going to stay somewhat the same. If you find Now Then isn't a great fit for what you want to do, we would recommend you request a refund through Apple's "Report a Problem" page on your App Store account. Other than that, if you have any other questions, use the "Contact Us" link in Settings to send us an email - we can respond faster to that. Thanks for the feedback!

### 1/5 — Can't log back in time!

*2017-11-22*

I may well be missing something in settings but I have tried every possibility including reset to default... for me I need something that I can log back in time more than 20hrs ago. I won't remember to log in something each time. I can't do this on this app therefore I have cancelled. Shame as the data converting into graphs was something that drew me in.

**Developer response:** This is a late response, but for anyone else who it may help, the Then screen is used for all historical data entry. If you find the date picker keeps spinning away from a date, it means you're trying to overwrite existing events, and Now Then is stopping you from doing that accidentally.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best time tracking app

*2025-12-28*

I've reviewed this one before and I'll sum up that old review by saying this app is fantastic. It's the best time tracker I know of by quite a bit. There's only one other in the running and it has an expensive subscription, and isn't even as good.

But the reason I'm doing a new review is this app only has an iOS 13 widget. That widget works well on iOS 13-17 but it doesn't work at all on iOS 18 and newer, and that's a big deal for an app you want to quickly interact with. Hopefully the developer will add new interactive widgets for recent versions of iOS and WatchOS.

It can occasionally hang on iOS 13-18, requiring a force-close. This didn't happen on iOS 12. It's been about that long since the app was updated so I'm not holding my breath for a fix. Similarly iCloud sync stopped working years ago.

I'd really like a two-column view. I can give my categories short names to make it work on my phone. I think that's better than scrolling, and I think multi-column would be great on iPad.

Anyway, it's still the best app of its kind.

### 5/5 — Useful and functional

*2025-08-05*

Fell in love with the free version after just one day using it and didn't think twice about supporting the devs and getting pro. Great job right here!

### 5/5 — Simple and Useful

*2025-04-23*

I like how it’s very easy to use, since I don’t prefer apps with multiple functions. I would really love if I can change the theme color though. Red is kind of intimidating for me, so it would be more than perfect if I can choose another color or even change back to blue (from the free version). Thanks for the app anyway:)

### 5/5 — Best time tracking app

*2025-01-22, version 2.3.1*

I've reviewed this one before and I'll just sum up that old review by saying this app is fantastic. It's the best time tracker I know of by quite a bit. There's only one other in the running and it has an expensive subscription, and isn't even as good.

Hopefully the developer will add new widgets for iOS 14-18 and WatchOS 10-11. I would be happy to pay for them via IAPs.

It can occasionally hang when switching to the app on iOS 13.x and higher - including iOS 17.x - which is a bit of a shame.

### 5/5 — Still better than most

*2025-01-10*

This app has truly held up to the test of time and is still worth the investment.

Yes, it’s been a minute since this was updated. The app has been around even longer.

I would imagine the simplicity of the app has helped it stay viable. It does what it claims to do and does it well. With severe ADHD (inattentive), I have tried most of the reasonably priced time tracking apps for the past 10 years. Here’s why this app is still my #1 go to:

1. It’s fast: to load and to enter a new task on the fly - I can always drill down later.

2. I can add as much or as little detail as I want.

3. For me, it’s incredibly intuitive.

4. It enables “by the clock” and color-coded analysis of how you spend your time over a few days, weeks, months.

5. It reminds you to use it at intervals you set.

6. It still works; very stable with minimal bugs (I’m running current version of iOS 18).

You should totally skip this app if:

- you like complicated data entry
- you want constant upgrades that might break something else
- you want more flexibility with colors
- you want to use this on a device other than iPhone or iPad (like Apple Watch, Web based,
Mac)
- you don’t like nesting categories
- you want templates
- you want updates (I’m trying to cajole the original al developers to return to the app)
- you have an eidetic memory of how you’ve spent your time.

I truly hope to see enough advancements to keep it functional as new versions of iOS are released. Adding features would be gravy.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-09-17*

Functional, customizable and if you're looking for tracking for time management, it's great.

### 5/5 — only thing i could ask for it maybe multitasking

*2024-08-05, version 2.3.1*

so simple and straight to the point

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2024-05-01*

If you need an app to help track your day this is a great app! Very easy to use, with a low learning curve. I love that under each category I can have sub-categories, and I can create my own categories to meet my needs. Thank you for a great app!

### 5/5 — Love this app (and update recommendations)

*2024-04-30, version 2.3.1*

Love this app, I have had it for almost 4 years now! If they ever do updates it would be great to have an apple watch version so that you can change activities without having to get your phone out.
