Especially once you unlock the paid features. The only problem I can see is that I cannot export the info as a pdf or export it at all really. Just a simple image can be saved. ### 4/5 — This app is very useful! *2023-04-08, version 2.1.1* This app has created NPC’s for me on the fly and made my campaigns feel more alive. I do wish there was a feature to create your own “jobs” for labeling. Also it would be nice to save photos you want to reuse within the app. Also a feature to filter what race you would like while randomly generating NPC’s, but that is all stuff that would be nice but the app as is definitely worth the download. Don’t get me wrong it’s an amazing app you just need to pay real money for more customization ### 4/5 — Great app for DMs *2022-03-13, version 2.1.1* This app is pretty impressive from what I have used it for, it allows you to use pre created NPCs for your campaigns. Even so, allowing you to create your very own NPCs as well. Note: Races are locked into Character packs that have to be purchased. Which is not an issue, it helps support the app, and keeps it going for everyone to use. No issues I can see from being able to save my groups including my custom NPCs. Wish I could do a little more with the app if customization for the NPCs. Otherwise it can be very handy for a DM to keep track of NPCs for campaigns, and help aid adventures as well in their quest. This app appears to be locked to portrait, which makes it a real pain to use sometimes. The idea and the execution is otherwise fantastic. The cost of $2.99 per five or ten pack of NPC’s is a little steep... I’d maybe pay $0.99 per pack of ten or $4.99 to unlock all. Half of the purchase-ablepcjs aren’t completed yet so they shouldn’t be for sale at the same price. Maybe tone down the costs to be more affordable vs value is my opinion Many of the Downloading custom pictures doesn’t allow photo's currently so they have to be some weird image file of which I have none of at the moment. So please add the ability to upload photos from iPhone. ### 4/5 — More legends *2020-08-08, version 2.1.0* Great little app, bought 2 of the packs may pick up more in future… definitely need some dwarves. I have 2 issues that are holding me back: 1). The initial pack could be more racially diverse, it’s make sense to give a broad range of races but limited to 1 or 2 of each gender 2). The legends are overly repetitive, I expected to unlock more than just photos with each purchase. A little disappointed I didn’t get some halftime customised legends when I bought that pack. Each race has a unique heritage & that isn’t really being reflected currently. Other than that, for generating random talking NPCs it’s great. I have another generator I use for more detailed ones with Stats, Actions & Features for 5e… if you could integrate stuff like that into this app it would be perfect. ### 5/5 — New Update *2020-08-01, version 2.1.0* Dear Knights of Vasteel, I love your app and it has proven very helpful in making my campaign, but today when I opened it I found I could not download the dwarf artwork without paying. I bought the app previous to this update, so I’m quite disappointed. The app pre-update never allowed me to download the dark-elf pack before this either. In conclusion your app is incredible but I’m hoping that there might be some way to get the artwork without spending any more money. Thank you for this incredible app! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Too expensive *2021-01-14, version 2.1.1* It’s ok at the start, but once you find out you can only create human NPCs and in order to get other races it’s $3.99 per race, just to create random NPCs that’s steep price to ask of someone for something so basic, if you were to buy all the races that would be over $63. Honestly it should be $3.99 for all the extra races for what this is truly worth. ### 1/5 — This is the worst *2020-07-27, version 2.0.3* And he was great at all don’t get me wrong but this I can’t even write down the stats I mean the stats of the most important play and it won’t even write down the stats!🥱 ### 2/5 — Its wonderful but.... *2020-08-05, version 2.1.0* This is such a good idea as a way to keep track of your npc characters! However only human npcs are free to unlock every race each pack is $2.99 aprox $3 with tax so $48 total for all of them. Id rather pay a set price for core races at least and then the more uncommon pay for them than try and buy them all. I can buy a dnd book for that price. However, I have purchased 3 packs and 2 will not download and are inaccessible in the character menu. There are no instructions on how to fix this and so I foresee myself trying for a refund. The promise keeps timing out and it’s not my internet connection (Thoroughly checked). The cost of getting new packs is expensive (£2.99) and half the packs aren’t even finished with only 4 or 5 portraits complete. The artwork is fantastic, creating multiple characters is super easy and customizable, and you can even insert your own picture if you don’t like the artwork for some reason. Because I have used this app frequently for years, I have a couple of gripes. I bought all the character packs and am more than willing to pay for more, so artist PLEASE keep drawing more 👏 Also, there are so few options for jobs for the NPCs, would love to see more occupations. (Like King and Advisor and Guild member) ### 5/5 — I love this sooo much *2024-02-27, version 2.1.1* As a brand new D&D player AND a brand new DM, this app has been invaluable to my character creation. I have been able to make a couple dozen NPCs for my starting town already, and I swear I could do this all day. I ended up buying all the character packs. They’re so reasonably priced and add so much to this! The only thing I would prefer is maybe more details like race for each NPC, or basic stats you could randomly roll for and add. And a landscape orientation! I like using my iPad, and it’s weird for me to put it in portrait mode and use my keyboard at the same time. But none of these are complaints, just suggestions. The portraits really get my creativity flowing and the ability to have all my NPCs at my finger tips with a description is exactly the tool I’ve always wanted for DMing. The art is gorgeous and full of personality. The ability to upload custom pictures and save images of your NPC is awesome!! I think the 1 dollar price tag on the character packs is totally fair just keep the portraits coming because some of the packs don’t have many characters in them making them less worth it. But seriously, might be my favorite D&D app, perfect for DMs. I often come up with an idea for NPCs but forget to write it down, with this app I can do it on the fly. I’ve recommended it to all my fellow DMs and would totally recommend it to anyone reading this review! ### 5/5 — Wonderful! *2022-06-13, version 2.1.1* I am hosting a DND campaign and this is such a helpful tool. You can purchase packs that follow a certain plot or idea, but even without purchasing any expansions ,which are only 0.99 each, you still get plenty of options. The auto-generated stories help me with making a new character on the spot. Super helpful and definitely recommend to anyone and everyone!
