### 3/5 — Please make local news page stay in app

*2026-08-22, version 7.7.0*

Good app. Use it to listen to the radio and some pods which it does really well. All national stories are easy to read. I just wish the local stories were as well! I cannot stand how clicking a local news link opens a web browser page. So many apps have solved this by opening the browser in the app, not forcing me to leave the app. Please solve the functionality! Other that that pretty solid app

### 2/5 — Can’t find shows

*2026-08-19, version 7.7.0*

I’m listening to something in my car. I want to continue listening to it, but I can’t find it in this application. It’s difficult to find different subjects that you might want to listen

### 2/5 — Fast talkers

*2026-08-14, version 7.7.0*

Too fast. Talking too fast. Cannot understand anything.

### 2/5 — App loses what you listen to repeatedly every time you navigate off of it.

*2026-08-13, version 7.7.0*

I love NPR, and I listen every morning. I would think that if I listen to the same local station without fail every day, this app would “remember” so it’s easy to start without searching for it every single morning. Alas, I have to type in my local station every morning.
Also, if I pause the station at any point, 9 out of 10 times I have to reopen the app, find my station I was JUST listening to again in order to continue listening to it. This is despite it still being open with a “play” button on my locked Home Screen.
Not great, NPR app! It still love you though, and I’ll still be annoyed and listen to you religiously.

### 3/5 — Superb content, klunky interface

*2026-08-11, version 7.7.0*

Great content. But the user interface is extremely awkward to use. Difficult to navigate, difficult to control, a nightmare to login.

### 5/5 — NPR Podcasts

*2026-08-09, version 7.7.0*

although there are too many to name, the NPR podcasts are professionally researched, solid and quite interesting every time. Hidden Brain is my favorite.

### 5/5 — NPR: Trustworthy Reporting

*2026-08-09, version 7.7.0*

When information elsewhere appears opaque, we can turn to NPR, because it’s essential that we utilize trustworthy data in order to make the best decisions for ourselves, our families, and our communities.

### 5/5 — Trusted news source

*2026-08-06, version 7.7.0*

NPR is the most trusted news source since Uncle Walter.

### 4/5 — Interface

*2026-08-06, version 7.7.0*

The programming is great. The iPhone interface is not.

### 5/5 — Tom Schrock

*2026-08-06, version 7.7.0*

A true jewel of America’s culture.

### 3/5 — Disappointed by the New Ad Style

*2026-08-06, version 7.7.0*

I’ve been a loyal NPR listener for years, but the app has become noticeably more commercial. The new sponsor messages with jingles and polished ad production are distracting and feel out of place. I understand NPR needs sponsorship revenue, but this changes the listening experience that has made NPR unique. I hope you’ll reconsider this direction.

### 5/5 — Best news!

*2026-08-05, version 7.7.0*

Unbiased and complete, this is the only national news outlet I trust.

### 5/5 — Always reliable

*2026-08-01, version 7.7.0*

In these turbulent times I know I can always rely on NPR and PBS for clear and intelligent news and entertainment.

### 5/5 — Long time NPR addict (thanks Mom! 😁)

*2026-08-01, version 7.7.0*

So, unsurprisingly, I’m a huge advocate of this app! I love the ability to catch stories I missed on air during the day! I also enjoy all the podcasts available for my favorite NPR shows.

### 5/5 — Only news I trust

*2026-07-28, version 7.7.0*

Need I say more?

### 2/5 — Where

*2026-07-26, version 7.7.0*

There is a big problem with reality regarding where and not

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — I want news not podcasts!

*2026-08-22, version 7.7.0*

What has happened to NPR? Over the last two years, I listen less and less. Maybe it is because management has no backbone, or maybe your curated information bores me. I miss the wonderful reporting and stories of the old, liberal NPR!

### 1/5 — Notyourdude

*2026-08-21, version 7.7.0*

Crashes. Slow starting. Hangs on ads between stories. Gets worse with every update. Please simplify it and make it work and make it better!

### 1/5 — Can't download

*2026-08-02, version 7.7.0*

Says i have an acct but won't let me on the app. Seems it's More interested in collecting My Info that allowing me access!!! Screw NPR!

### 1/5 — Very left side Bias

*2026-07-28, version 7.7.0*

Liberal News ONLY

### 1/5 — Dickover - disaster. Makes app unusable.

*2026-07-18, version 7.6.0*

The dickover is so big you cant click the approve or disapprove buttons. Making the app unusable.

dickover — a modal panel, popover, or curtain presented by a website or app, deliberately obscuring its own content to frustrate the user with an unwanted, unnecessary, mandatory interaction; e.g. asking the user to accept “cookies”,

### 1/5 — What happened?

*2026-07-18, version 7.6.0*

Good content, terribly pushy and ad-drenched app. NPR was way ahead of the curve on digital distribution many years ago, now they’re just another pig lined up at the encrudification trough.

### 1/5 — Can’t login

*2026-07-18, version 7.6.0*

App won’t let me log in. I can rough the website, but then I need to keep the browser open. I initially planned to download NPR ONE, but I find out that it has been discontinued and replaced by the “flagship NPR app”

### 1/5 — dissapointed

*2026-07-12, version 7.6.0*

Difficult to navigate and lots of pop up screens make this app pretty miserable to use

### 1/5 — No accountability

*2026-07-05, version 7.6.0*

There is no longer any option for reporting your sexist, racist or ethically/morally wrong articles within your app.

Is it because you're tired of people tell you they're disappointed in your efforts? Maybe you've wasted a decade of your life and are just holding on to a bad idea.

Instead, I will make complaints against your journalists and your licenses. There may be a free freedom of speech, but we are held accountable to what we share publicly. Don't mislead ordinary people.

Don't praise women at the expense of men. Don't praise Black at the expense White. Vice versa expectations on all this.

### 1/5 — So Pushy

*2026-06-28, version 7.6.0*

I donate. Subscribe to NPR+. PLEASE stop constantly nagging me to allow notifications, and just let me use the app in peace. I don’t need more notifications in my life.

### 5/5 — Saturday morning is better with Scott Simon

*2026-08-22, version 7.7.0*

Love love love Scott Simon. And his writers on the Mr. Roger’s Detroit Tiger’s catcher (once again!) story made me smile and laugh and cheer.

### 5/5 — Very calm presence.

*2026-08-19, version 7.7.0*

Has been a very calm presence in my early life and now getting back to it.

*2026-08-13, version 7.7.0*

❤️

### 5/5 — Trusted news site

*2026-08-12, version 7.7.0*

Good content I really enjoy articles especially with option to also listen to article.
I HATE that you force your news onto MY PHONE immediately after finishing a podcast or article!!! Very annoying and rather obnoxious of you to “decide” to take over my feed and phone!!! Stop doing this!

### 5/5 — Most reliable

*2026-08-12, version 7.7.0*

NPR provides the best, most insightful and reliable news national and international news. I listen to my local station whenever I am in the car and find it brings me up to date on the most important events of the day. The reporters are deeply knowledgeable about their subjects and provide me with facts and analysis I know are honest and fair. The interviews are always fascinating!

### 5/5 — The absolute gold standard of broadcast journalism

*2026-08-11, version 7.7.0*

Nothing comes close to npr’s investigative reports and reportage. As a dedicated listener to All Things Considered, Morning Edition and Weekend Edition I’m profoundly grateful to have this priceless resource so easily available.
