Only complaint I have is that the app seems to have slowed down considerably following a recent update. Loading midi files and soundfonts used to be near instantaneous, but now it takes several seconds (and even upwards of 30 for a particularly large file) to load. Edit in response to developer: Although rare, some midi files can be pretty long songs, the one in this case is a 36 minute long midi, I have another with is 49 minutes and takes 888 KB… larger midis are rare but they do exist. ### 4/5 — Good app but it can struggle *2025-03-21, version 3.1.2* Big midis are a nono 1.2 mb midi will take forever or oftentimes wont open. ### 5/5 — Amazing app *2025-03-08, version 3.1.2* This app is amazing, I like listening to the FreeDooM soundtrack with the GZDooM sound font, and this app allows me to do all of that for free! Playing soundfonts doesn’t work despite using the required format sf2. Just doesn’t output sound. Ability to change instruments would be great. For free it’s great, however as an IAP (7.99€) it’s way too pricey. Seems like the only add on you get for the paid version is to create custom songs. With more features such as using soundfonts, changing instruments, looping sections of the Midi file, start stop and change file via external control (e.g. bluetooth) I would happily pay the 7.99€ but those features are not available as it seems or not working, or not announced among the premium features. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your review! You should be able to use SoundFonts with the free version. The app also supports iOS remote controls, so you can control playback from Control Center, headphone remote controls, CarPlay, etc. To clarify, the paid version gives you access to the following features: - Connect to MIDI outputs (including Bluetooth MIDI devices) with Core MIDI - Export MIDI files as audio (AAC, AIFF, Apple Lossless, WAV, and FLAC formats are supported) - Queue multiple songs to be played in order ### 5/5 — Perfect for learning songs from midi. *2025-01-06, version 3.1.1* This is a great tool for learning songs from midi if you turn off the reverb. This app plays midi songs directly from your files folder. The slowest speed of 25 percent still has a perfect tone. Does not require the .mid extender after the file name. For me I just want to prelisten MiDi-files quickly before I import them into my logic-projects. I expected that this program has at least a mini soundbank to playback the midirecordings, but no sound is coming. Connecting external Midi devices requires Pro Version. The app does have a built-in Default SoundFont to play back MIDI files, so you should be able to hear sound without needing to connect to an external MIDI device. Now it doesn't. *2026-05-21, version 3.2.5* SAVE MIDI ON THE IPHONE! ### 2/5 — Can’t you save the playlists? *2025-11-16, version 3.2.3* It is paid to make the playlists at the moment, nice audio but the app for musicians or listeners is not practical at all. ### 2/5 — Free version does not play the last quarter of the file. *2025-01-07, version 3.1.1* It costs $22 to get the premium version which will play the last quarter of the file plus save any edits. I was happy to try out the free version but not playing the last quarter of the file is stingy and stupid business. I've tried a bunch of mids and soundfonts through it and all works as expected. The Playing Next feature is super handy as well. The app works well with VoiceOver as well everything's clearly labeled. I like the little track viewer too. Hear the various parts of a midi in isolation. A few suggestions though… *2026-05-15, version 3.2.5* So this app is *amazing*, but i think there are some much needed quality of life changes. 1. Pause the audio when a Bluetooth audio device connects/disconnects, and 2. Add a toggle for if changing sound font restarts the midi. I tried another and it sounded normal. Old review: Downloaded. No sound when I try to play a .mid file. Rebooted Mac. No sound. All system sound settings are normal. App set to play thru Mac speakers; really nothing I can see needing to change.
