### 3/5 — So simple yet difficult

*2026-07-28*

Unable to get the actual notification to my phone.
Even though my phone is set to loud badges and notifications. The app never makes a noise or show a notification has been received. Desperately need this to work but no luck

### 3/5 — Nice app, but needs a usability improvement

*2026-07-27*

I appreciate that a free app is basically someone's hobby. I'm grateful for having this. But why do so many apps insist on cutting off long labels with ellipsis and make my it impossible to read the full label?

This app requires use of obscure topic/channel names. Okay great, but how am I ever supposed to retrieve the topic if there is literally nowhere in the UI where it is displayed fully?

Suggested improvement: extend the topic display to be dynamic text and not a limited one line label. having multiline topic is essential.

### 4/5 — Limited Settings

*2026-05-07, version 1.4.1*

Don’t get me wrong, this is a brilliant app considering its price (free) but I wish there was an option to change the notification sound in settings.

### 4/5 — Just what I needed

*2026-04-17, version 1.4.1*

I needed to receive notifications of an automation that I configured on my Mac device and I found this application, really easy to configure and use. Thank you for that!
The missing star is for a potential improvement window and not a negative point, which would allow us to read at least certain attached files (.md, .txt) or receive longer messages if the content is a bit longer.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed

*2026-04-10, version 1.3*

Perfect for text only log notifications. Very easy to set up and fast

### 5/5 — Just works. Super lite.

*2026-04-06, version 1.3*

This app just works. Super simple, super lite. Love it!!!

### 5/5 — great tool!

*2026-04-05, version 1.3*

easy 5 min setup, was able to hook this up to my copilot CLI to send me notifs when it’s done working. truly a great functional app

### 5/5 — Solid

*2026-04-02, version 1.3*

Thank you for building this, implemented what I needed in less than 5 mins, saved me a TON of time!! Brilliant little app!

### 4/5 — Amazing Possibilities

*2026-04-01*

I’m enjoying this app so far, and have already found some wonderful use cases. One feature I’d love to see is a per-topic priority level filter for notifications. As of my testing, currently I get notifications for EVERYTHING regardless of priority. I’d love to filter out priority 1/2 notifications and only receive 3+. Please be sure this is set at the topic level. Thanks!

### 4/5 — Just wish the communication was two way instead of just one way

*2026-03-22*

On iphone I cannot publish to a topic from the ntfy app itself, I have to use the web app in the browser for that, this is something you should be able to do from the app itself or using some integration with IOS shortcuts or Tasker etc. My use case is that I want to use ntfy as a shared clipboard to send and receive text between my iPhone and the computer

### 3/5 — Hard to enable push notifications

*2026-03-01, version 1.3*

I spent over hour trying to get push notifications to work on my self hosted ntfy server… even put the upstream base url … still couldn’t get it working.. iPhone 17.
UPDATE: okay it’s finally working after reinstalled the app. Thanks

### 4/5 — it simply works

*2026-02-15, version 1.3*

simple and useful

### 5/5 — Long live open source

*2026-02-01, version 1.3*

Thanks for a great app

### 5/5 — ty phil

*2026-01-26, version 1.3*

You’re a true bro! What an amazing idea/product. I perfect fit for my use case! Thank you!

### 5/5 — Works great if you turn off Notification Summarizing

*2026-01-18*

Works great, but you need to make sure that summarization is turned off in notification settings, otherwise the click URLs are often broken

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2026-01-10, version 1.3*

This app is so useful! I built my open email tracker server to avoid paying fees, and now I can get notifications on my phone. 👌 Thank you so much for building this app and keeping it available for free.

### 3/5 — Needs more robust features

*2026-01-10, version 1.3*

Markdown support and attachments are abysmal in this. Sure there is the fully featured webapp, but notifications are delayed or not delivered when the app is closed (I think that is an iOS issue). Bottom line, a more polished native app would be perfect.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Who is rating this 5 stars?

*2026-04-12, version 1.3*

2 years without an update? Come on!

Fix the images

### 1/5 — Does not work on iphone

*2025-05-20, version 1.3*

Works on my Macbook, but not on my iphone11

### 1/5 — Awesome

*2025-05-03, version 1.3*

Awesome self host-able push notification server!

Edit: Subtracting 4 stars after hours wasted in troubleshooting why my IP is banned all due to obscure rate limiting. No where does it tell you until you restart the docker without -d and see the log. All this is isolated to the Apple ecosystem because Apple ridiculous APN controls. Android is fine.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2025-02-01, version 1.3*

I have checked my notifications settings, deleted and reinstalled the app, double checked app settings and nothing ever comes through while some of my colleagues reported theirs were working; I’m running out of what to do to try and make this work.Frustrating
02/01/25 I’m still trying to make this work but as I search true ntfy site I find very little info in fact all their examples show them using an android (yes by now I realize how developers hate how difficult it’s to work with IOS) it seems like a great idea and good tech BUT NOT for those with little to no tech knowledge

### 1/5 — Poor IOS support compared to android

*2025-01-28, version 1.3*

I can’t even change the notification subscription name nor notification image which are both easy local changes supported on android. The settings in IOS are really far behind android

### 1/5 — It doesn’t work anymore

*2025-01-22, version 1.3*

Stopped working some time ago

### 1/5 — Doesn’t actually work

*2023-10-16, version 1.2*

I love ntfy and want to support the project/service. However, this iOS app doesn’t actually work. The only way to get ntfy working on iOS is to install it as a Safari PWA. Do that instead.

### 2/5 — Notifications on manual reload

*2026-03-02, version 1.3*

I only see notifications & test notifications if I manually reload the topic.

### 2/5 — Cant do images on iOS

*2026-02-12, version 1.3*

This is very simple to use it works fine for text. However, I need images. So I have to switch to pushover

### 2/5 — FIX IMAGES!!!

*2025-12-19*

This is an excellent notification tool. I’m however, stuck using the web PWA interface in order to get images. This is basic functionality and should be able to be done. Please fix this. It’s been two years since you’ve worked on this last. Works fine in windows. It works fine on Mac. It works fine in a web browser. But on an iPhone in the app, no. Please fix this.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Simple and brilliant

*2026-06-10, version 1.7.0*

It’s not trying to be a multi-tool. It does its one thing - providing an endpoint for mobile notifications - very well and free of charge or advertising. Thank you!

### 5/5 — The perfect solution

*2026-06-10, version 1.7.0*

This solves a simple yet pervasive and valuable problem darn near perfectly.

This is a awesome app

### 5/5 — Can’t be THIS easy to use

*2026-04-29*

Literally one step setup 😭 needed a notification system for a bot i made. Was doing email notifications but it was flooding my mailbox. Switched to this. Can spam the notification topic as much as i want

A little app that solves a huge problem, it is an amazing tool, great thanks to the creator
