## What is Nudge?

Nudge turns your iPhone into a hands-on focus companion for your lighting console.

Drive pan, tilt, zoom and focus the way a gamepad was meant to be used — analog sticks for smooth, velocity-based attribute changes, dedicated buttons for Highlight, Set, Solo, At Full, Clear, Prev and Next. Works with a DualSense (PS5) or other MFi-compatible controller paired over Bluetooth, or with the on-screen controller built into the app.

WHAT IT DOES
• Sends OSC over Wi-Fi — designed and verified against grandMA3, with experimental presets for grandMA2, Chamsys MagicQ and Avolites Titan
• Velocity-based sticks: deflection = speed of change, accumulated smoothly between sends
• Sensitivity slider built right into the Focus pad — adjust pan/tilt feel without leaving the screen
• Per-stick sensitivity sliders on the Connect tab for fine-tuning both sticks
• Console presets — switch between MA3, MA2, Chamsys and Avolites; each preset remembers its own bindings
• Two layouts: a compact Focus pad (one stick + Prev / Highlight / Next / Set / Solo) and a full controller preview
• Fully re-mappable: assign any control to a command-line string for your console — and the Focus Highlight button exposes separate On / Off verbs so you can match each console's exact toggle pair
• Auto-connects over Wi-Fi — no manual connection step
• Optional physical controller support — gamepad + phone both active at once
• Light / Dark / System theme
• Pocket mode — keep driving the console from a paired controller while the iPhone is locked in your pocket

PERFECT FOR
• Programmers focusing rigs without needing both hands on the console
• Designers giving notes from the audience seat
• Anyone who's ever wished the MA3 encoders had analog rotary feel

SETUP
1. Pick your console preset on the Mapping tab (MA3, MA2, Chamsys or Avolites)
2. Configure the console to receive OSC — Nudge has an in-app walk-through for each preset
3. Connect your iPhone to the same Wi-Fi as the console
4. Enter the console IP and port on the Connect tab — Nudge connects automatically

REQUIREMENTS
• iOS 16 or later
• A lighting console reachable over Wi-Fi
• Optional: DualSense (PS5) or other MFi wireless controller

PRIVACY
No accounts, no analytics, no tracking. All settings stay on the device; OSC traffic only goes to the console IP you enter.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.1.8 — 2026-08-14

Axis Lock — a lock button front and center on the Live tab commits a stick to Pan/Tilt or Zoom/Focus once you push mostly one way, and holds that axis exclusively (the other reads zero) until you drift back to center — no more sneaking off-axis mid-move. Works the same with a physical controller or the on-screen pad. Toggle it on the fly, mid-move.

Invert Pan / Invert Tilt — quick toggles on the Connect tab flip either axis without digging into the Mapping tab.

Updated grandMA3 defaults — the Highlight button now sends the single "Highlight" verb, and Set sends "Set selection Property Active" to match how the desk expects it.

grandMA3 setup guide updated — now flags a known console bug on software 2.3.x where OSC output can silently stop after a show file save/reload, plus the fix (toggle Send off/on, or update to 2.4+).

### 1.1.3 — 2026-05-06

Set and Solo on the Focus pad — two new buttons sit alongside Highlight, Prev and Next so you can lock in a focus or solo a fixture without leaving the Focus layout.

Sensitivity slider built into the Focus pad — drag to dial pan/tilt feel right above the thumbstick. Stays in sync with the Connect tab's Left Stick slider.

Cleaner Live tab — the redundant "Live" header is gone, and the Focus / Controller switcher no longer drifts vertically when you flip between the two layouts.

Customizable Highlight on/off — the Focus Highlight button now exposes its On and Off command strings as separate, editable bindings on the Mapping tab, so you can match any console's exact verb pair.

Simpler OSC setup — Nudge now drives console state explicitly, so the MA3 walk-through is shorter: one Send port, "Send Command" enabled, and you're done. No echo or receive ports to wire up.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-05-05

Bug fixes and UI changes:
Console presets — switch between grandMA3, grandMA2, Chamsys MagicQ and Avolites Titan from the Mapping tab. Each preset keeps its own bindings, so you can swap consoles without redoing your customizations.

Bidirectional OSC — the app now listens on a configurable Receive port for echo / feedback packets coming back from the console. The Highlight button on the Live tab lights up when MA3 actually has Highlight active.

Auto-connect — no more Connect button. Nudge connects on launch, reconnects when host or port change, and refreshes on every foreground.

Cleaner default mapping — buttons fire spelled-out commands (Highlight, Set, At Full, Clear, Prev, Next, Up, Down) instead of cryptic shortcuts. Sticks default to base rate 50, deadzone 0.05, curve 1.5. L2 / R2 now act as Prev / Next.

Preset-aware setup guide — the OSC Setup link on the Connect tab now shows the steps for whichever console preset you've selected.

Done button on numeric keyboards — the IP / Port fields are no longer a one-way street.

Configurable Receive port — separate from the Send port, so feedback routes cleanly even when running multiple iPhones.
