No scanning, no subscription required. SCAN YOUR PRODUCTS Scan a product's barcode, then photograph its lot or batch number: Numeline reads the code and checks, by brand and lot, whether it matches an official FDA or USDA recall. You can also type the lot yourself. Ideal for groceries, inventory, or incoming shipments. WHEN NO LOT NUMBER IS PUBLISHED Agencies sometimes announce a recall without publishing lot codes. Rather than reporting nothing found, Numeline flags a possible recall when the brand and product type match, and shows the details that were published, such as "Best if Used By" dates, so you can check your item. Numeline also monitors FDA press releases, often published before the enforcement database is updated. Set up allergies and foods to avoid right from the start — one profile per person, for the whole family. All profiles are checked while your free scans last. When a barcode isn't recognized, the app now asks for the brand instead of skipping it, and you can fix a brand later from your history. Fixed: you couldn't get back from a product's detail screen, and the step instructions were hard to read over the camera. ### 1.0.17 — 2026-08-11 No lot number on the package? Now you have two ways through. • Switch between "Lot number" and "Best By date" in one tap. Many fresh and store-brand products carry no lot code at all — recalls identify those by their Best By date instead. • Type it in yourself, any time. Lot number, date, or brand — no need to fail a scan first. As you type a date, the app shows you how it read it, so you know it was understood before you check. • When a barcode isn't in the public databases, the app now asks for the brand instead of moving on without it. Recalls are matched by brand, so this is exactly when it matters most. You can still continue without. • More recalls are now found. Alerts published as FDA press releases — including recalls for glass, plastic or metal in food — are read properly, and dates printed as a month only ("BEST BEFORE 4/2027") are now recognized. • Checks are noticeably faster, and start while you're still typing. Fixed on iPhone: the manual-entry button sat underneath the on-screen instructions and couldn't be tapped, and the "Skip" button covered the step instructions. Both are resolved. Also fixed: a rare case where a genuine recall could be missed when the official notice printed the lot number and the expiration date on the same line. ### 1.0.16 — 2026-08-10 No lot number on the package? Switch to Best By date mode in one tap — or just type the lot or date in yourself. Dates with a written month ("AUG 03 2026") or only a month and year ("BEST BEFORE 4/2027") are now recognized, and the app shows you how it read what you typed. Also fixes a matching issue that could cause a genuine recall to be missed when the official notice printed the lot and the expiration date on the same line. ### 1.0.15 — 2026-08-08 No lot number? Now you can scan the date. Many products — fresh items and store brands — don't print a lot number. The FDA and USDA identify those recalls by the "Best if Used By" date instead. Tap "No lot number?" and Numeline reads the date and checks it against the official recall window. If a recall matches a brand you have scanned, the product is flagged "possible recall" and you get a single notification — never a repeat. When no lot numbers are published, Numeline shows you the identification details from the official notice, such as "Best if Used By" dates, so you can check your own item.
