## What is Numline?

Numline is a calculator you type into like a notepad. Write your maths in plain words on the left, and answers appear instantly on the right.

No buttons to hunt for. No equals key. Just type a line — "120 USD to EUR", "20% of 4800", "rent = 2400" — and Numline works it out as you go.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Plain-language maths — write "95 EUR * 4" and read the answer beside it
• Currencies — convert between world currencies: "cost in JPY to USD". Rates update automatically; offline, the last ones stand in and results are approximate
• Units — length, mass, volume, temperature and more: "120 km to miles", "356 F to C"
• Percentages — tips, discounts and splits in words: "89 + 15%", "240 / 4 + 10%"
• Variables — name a value once and reuse it: "rate = 85", "32 * rate"
• Totals — "total" sums the block above; a blank line starts a fresh one
• Dates — "trip - today", "trip + 2 weeks" and other quick date maths
• Functions — sqrt, round, abs and friends when you need them
• Shorthand — "19k + 80k" reads thousands the way you say them
• Themes — Classic, Lime, Violet and Amber, each colouring your notation its own way
• Many notepads — keep a separate sheet for every plan

Every line is live. Change a number and everything below it updates. It reads back like a note you wrote to yourself, so you can always see how you reached an answer.

Numline stays quiet and focused: a dark editor, syntax colours you choose, and nothing in your way.

No account. No subscription. No ads. Your notepads stay on your device. Just type.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7 — 2026-08-28

• Reordering the home list is steadier near the screen edges. Picking up a notepad at the bottom no longer scrolls the list away; the list scrolls only when you move it towards an edge
• In Reorder mode, a long press keeps the notepad lifted instead of opening its menu
• A notepad's menu now needs a slightly longer hold, so starting a drag no longer opens it by accident
• The = key on Numline's pad now adds spaces around itself, just like + - x and /

### 1.6 — 2026-08-26

• Multiple windows on iPad. Open Numline in two windows side by side, each on its own notepad; open the same notepad in both and they stay in step as you type. Each window comes back to the notepad it had. Each window shows its notepad's name, so Exposé and the window menu tell them apart.

Also fixed
• (Accessibility) VoiceOver reads each key on Numline's pad as its own button
• The home list no longer cuts its bottom rows off at the screen edge (seen on iOS 26.6)
• Fixed a crash when typing over a selected long line whose result sits on its own row

### 1.5 — 2026-08-24

• Colour themes: Classic, Lime, Violet and Amber. Pick in Settings under Appearance; the theme gallery shows each one as a live sample in its own colours, and your pick applies to the editor and the home previews.

Also fixed
• (Accessibility) VoiceOver now correctly reads the notepad rows on the home list as buttons
• Typing in a notepad no longer slows down as your list of notepads grows

### 1.4 — 2026-08-22

• Pin the notepads you use most, from a row's swipe or its long-press menu. They sit in their own section at the top of the list, and you can drag notepads into and out of it.
• Reorder now sits in the Sort By menu, next to Manual and Last Edited.
• A User Manual in Settings covers what Numline understands: maths and variables, percentages, units and currency, dates and time, and the keyboard gestures. Its examples are computed live, so they read exactly as they would in your own notepad. New installs now start with four notepads covering the same ground.
• A percent line reads like a receipt: under a subtotal it discounts or adds to it, so 100, -50%, total gives 50. A block of only percentages totals as a percentage.
• Functions keep units and percentages: abs(-5 km) is 5 km, round(12.5%) is 13 %, min(1 km, 900 m) is 900 m.
• Swipe actions on the home list now show their names.

Also fixed
• A negative percentage stays one: -50% keeps its sign and discounts when added.
• A line starting with + no longer errors.
• Results no longer show -0.

### 1.3 — 2026-08-10

• Rate on the App Store: a new Settings row takes you straight to the review page.
• Sending feedback is a little smoother.
