### 4/5 — Scary music

*2021-03-16, version 2.8.5*

I’m using this for my older kids, so My perspective is different. There are a lot of scary or “creepy” songs, per my kids (3 and 5). When the scary songs come on I have to stop our playing and find my phone to skip the song.
When my kids were younger we used this app and the “scary songs” we not a problem.

I’d also love some feedback as to wether or not your app is beneficial for older children (in our case 3 and 5 years old)?

Is there a way to have two profiles, so I can track my kids listening time separately?

### 4/5 — Works

*2020-08-04, version 2.8.2*

I’ve been using this service with my baby for about six months, including two months when my baby was pre-natal. Initially, it was a little work to fit listening into my daily routine. But I’ve started to see greater my son showing greater attentiveness and curiosity over the past two months. Not sure, but I think it’s really working.

### 4/5 — Good job

*2020-08-03, version 2.8.2*

I wish I would have heard about this sooner. We're still in the window, so I know there is still a great benefit. I had a hard time getting my playlist to load, but I contacted support and they fixed it for me within minutes. They told me that more features are coming. That is pretty exciting.

### 4/5 — Different

*2020-08-03, version 2.8.2*

The music is different, but I suppose that is part of what makes your program unique. After reading some of the reviews from other parents who have been using Nuryl for years, I knew it was something I needed to do with our baby (18 months now).

### 5/5 — Great Concept!

*2020-07-01, version 2.7.3*

Great concept! Starting to use with my 6 month old and she loves the music. After reading reviews on their website and doing my own research, I could definitely see the benefits. I’m glad there is a education system like this. The songs are very unique and stuff you can’t find out there. The UI could use a little work, but the delivery of the music is without any issues. So far so good!

### 3/5 — Does not sync between devices?

*2020-01-03, version 2.6.2*

Other than some of the other complaints already listed (issues with AirPlay, repetitiveness of songs, certain songs are “creepy”, some songs have artists grunting in the background which is distracting) I have another that is just annoying and renders the app useless to me and my family.

I purchased the app and started the subscription, and logged my husband in on his phone. I play music for my son in the AM when my husband is at work, and my husband plays music in the PM for our son while I’m getting home from work. The app DOES NOT sync between phones. I can find high information music on my own. The problem here is the interface to track what you are doing with your child is rendered useless if it does not add together from multiple phones logged in to one account. Both phones are for the same child so it really should be no issue.

This is a glaring issue that will probably result in our cancellation.

**Developer response:** Hello. The apps are supposed to sync up but on a daily basis, the information from one device needs to be uploaded to our server so the other device can "check in" and download the same info. Understandably, the app or devices may be turned off before this can occur and therefore would reflect a different listening time than the other device. We are looking into ways to make this more efficient and instant for our users and I hope that you would consider staying on despite this discrepancy. Regardless, thanks for your interest in Nuryl!

### 5/5 — A MUST HAVE for any pregnant woman or parent!!

*2019-05-28, version 2.5.8*

I was lucky enough to discover and start using the Nuryl app when I was four months pregnant with my daughter and I continue to use it everyday! While pregnant and when she was a newborn, using the app allowed us to have one on one bonding/interaction time AND allowed us to discover and develop appreciation for all genres of music. As she she has grown, I can tell when she recognizes certain pieces because she moves with the beat or simply looks at me and smile or claps along! My daughter is nearly three now and she is quite smart. She has excellent language and social skills and is musically inclined. I fully believe the Nuryl app helped ignite her passion for singing and music. I encourage any pregnant woman or parent to use this app!

### 5/5 — Solid app, great customer service

*2018-07-22, version 2.5.8*

The app is easy to use and the response from customer service if there are any questions is amazing. Worth trying!

### 5/5 — Great Concept and Experience

*2018-07-09, version 2.5.8*

We loved it, the concept and the execution. The variety of the music, and the criteria for its selection, were unique and impressive, and our baby was engaging with sound experiences we neither had the time or knowledge to provide. Watched the videos of the creator’s son, and some TED talks on baby sound and language development, and it convinced us! The positive reviews ring true for us, certainly. Some of the negatives are hilariously irrelevant, referring to a random server error as an app-defining moment. As for criticisms of taste, well we certainly didn’t “enjoy” every piece, but that wasn’t the point - if I had wanted baby to just experience what his laymen parents knew or appreciated, and didn’t care about exposure to complex or unpredictable “information rich” music, then I wouldn’t have considered this in the first place. But I want him to have the opportunity to be as sensitized as possible so he can have as much “ear” as possible for his own music and language growth.
(Bonus was that I also grew in my own musical tastes and appreciation!)

### 4/5 — Love the ease of the app!

*2018-05-28, version 2.5.8*

We try to use the app daily, sometimes life happens and we aren’t able to get the full hour in, but we definitely try! We love the ease of being able to open the app and play music, all while tracking our time! The only thing we don’t love is some songs are rather depressing and/or sound scary. It is only a few songs, I recognize they are complex, but I wish they were all focused on being happy or relaxing. We are on the three month age and one song literally sounds like the opener to a horror movie, so we always skip it (but at least we can do that!). It is just way easier to have the fun interactions with the fun and/or relaxing songs. Other than that, we love it!

**Developer response:** So glad to hear you are enjoying the app! Yes, some songs are darker in tonality and key and it ends up being beautiful to some and maybe a little moody to others. However, we didnt want to exclude these songs due to their High-Information content and cognitive benefits. Definitely skip a song or two that your child has issues with and thanks so much for the support!

### 3/5 — Great concept, poor execution

*2018-05-02, version 2.5.8*

First of all, the principle is excellent. As an infant, and throughout my childhood (beginning in 1974), my parents exposed me to extensive classical music. Incidentally, my brain is more advanced than ordinary people which I’ve known for decades. I understand the focus of this App entirely however, the App is flawed.
Flaw number one: Some tracks are not in tune. More than one song, I have played along with my guitar only to find that the Nuryl App is just a little flat; and I mean just the slightest bit. I verified the off key condition with some of the songs just to be absolutely certain, and to my dismay, I am correct. In my opinion, it is a major flaw.
Flaw number two: Beginning at month seven, and continuing into month eight, the new playlists downloaded feature low information music. Why? When I first began using the App, there were a majority of classical compositions. The most recent playlist has only a few songs by classical composers. Now, my family is subjected to music genres that lack rhythmic foundations, and harmony. Very disappointing!
The two flaws I’ve mentioned are critical problems, and I won’t be a subscriber ever again.
My final statement is just a complaint. Recent playlists are mostly artists I just don’t like. One in particular has several songs every single month. The artist could be the developer’s favorite so, I don’t want to be insulting however, nothing special about that artist or the songs they’ve produced.

**Developer response:** We are glad that you like the overall principle of Nuryl, although we disagree about the app being flawed. The music is being directly played from high-quality audio files downloaded onto your device and not purposely being altered. It is possible that there are some songs that are slightly out of tune because of the ensemble tuning on the recording. Ultimately, the Nuryl curriculum was designed to stimulate the brains of young children ages prenatal -2yo in hopes to increase their cognitive abilities and not to teach perfect pitch.
Also, all of our playlists include high-information pieces as that is what the curriculum is built around (music tonally rich with highly complex harmonies that move rapidly into unexpected places by incorporating unusual melodic structures). We do have some playlists that are more jazz-oriented so as to provide diversity for the listeners but these are in our opinion high-information pieces that follow the definition of High-Information music as we advertise. Month 7 and 8 that you mention still have plenty of classical high-information pieces mixed in with the jazz and with the exception of a couple of playlists, all playlists are diversified as such.

### 5/5 — Enjoyable and Educational

*2017-12-21, version 2.5.7*

This truly is a wonderful program. My daughter used the trial version of Nuryl while I was pregnant. We bought the full version once she was 8 weeks old and I wish we did it sooner! The music is enjoyable to not only my daughter, but to my husband and I. And if you’re going to listen to something everyday, you also want to enjoy it 😜. I love that my daughter is now gravitating towards higher level, complex music. The music in this program definitely holds her attention which is really neat to see. I highly recommend Nuryl.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2021-05-17, version 3.0.6*

Opened it to use it after not using it for a while. Now asking for a password, but I never set a password. Password reset doesn’t work either. This was an in-app purchase, it should just work without a password.

No contact info available for the developer inside the app nor on the App Store.

Also, it’s somewhat underwhelming even when it works. It’s a playlist that changes every month. Cool. But overpriced.

**Developer response:** So sorry you are having issues. We just had a brand new app update which requires everyone to log in again. You purchased your app directly from the apple app store, but because of this, your subscription purchase did not get attached to your Nuryl account which you set up when you downloaded the app after the purchase. Please write us at support@nuryl.com and send us a copy of your purchase and we will get you up and running in no time. The new version of the app that just came out has some cool new features and added value, as well as being more stable and accurate, so we hope you will give it a try. Thanks.

### 1/5 — This app is terrible. One of the glitchiest apps ever

*2020-04-12, version 2.7.0*

Worked like a charm for a few months . So let me get this right. I can’t log on more than one device when I pay 10 dollars a month for a glorified playlist of music? I log out and can’t even log back in at all. Tried restarting , reinstalling , resetting devices , everything. Nothing. I come from an IT space and whoever coded this thing is an amateur. You can’t even unsubscribe LIKE EVERY OTHER APP through the Apple subscriptions , there’s no help or hotline to get through direct: i can’t even access help through the app because it keeps freezing on “downloading...”. This app is a mess! I was a loyal customer and now I just want my money back for the last 2 months this thing hasn’t been working. On ANY device. My iphone , fiancees iphone , 2 different ipads and more. Whoever coded this thing needs to go back to square one before someone comes along with a suite. And when you guys do respond . Please look into my account.

**Developer response:** HI Nox. We apologize for any issues you have been experiencing. Write us at support@nuryl.com and we would be happy to look into these issues and help out in any way possible once we know your user email. Thanks.

### 1/5 — Kid HATES this

*2020-03-29, version 2.6.2*

Been trying to use this for the past 3 months ever since he was born, within seconds of the music playing he loses it, freaks out, I turn it off and he’s fine. I’ve played straight classical music off my home speakers and he’s fine. I don’t know what it is about the music on this app but my baby absolutely can’t stand it.

### 1/5 — Repetitive

*2018-08-29, version 2.5.8*

When we first got the app 7 months ago it was great for our little one. Over the months we became more and more disappointed and frustrated. The music is so repetitive and every other song we have to skip because every single ayden essin song is so depressive and everyone in our household screams next when his songs come on which in this app is 75%. If i have to listen to the star wars and Indiana jones and ET soundtrack one more time i might loose it. The concept of this app is genius but the execution is poor. There are millions of songs to pick from why always have the same 30-40 songs no matter what month of the child's development?!?! Also when you are in lock screen on the iPhone you can’t forward or go back on a song you always have to go back in the app....

### 1/5 — Can't finish log in

*2017-02-19, version 2.5.0*

This ap claims to be specifically for use starting at "5 months prenatal" -however it won't even allow me to sing in because it requires the baby's gender. We don't and won't know the baby' gender until it is born in June. Hard to believe it's such a wonderful learning tool when the creators didn't even take this into account.

### 2/5 — You have to manually press play to go to next song on playlist

*2019-05-18, version 2.5.8*

We’ve used this app since I was pregnant and our baby is now 3 months old. We really loved this app at first, but recently it doesn’t automatically play the next song in the playlist. This wasn’t the case when we first started using the app.

### 2/5 — Multi-step process to unsubscribe

*2019-04-08, version 2.5.8*

The app was not quite as robust as we hoped. We could have saved quite a bit creating playlists of similar music for our son.

Nuryl responded to another reviewer saying the songs are meant to stimulate the brain and not teach perfect pitch but that’s exactly what was advertised with demonstrations of the creator and his son who was taught perfect pitch. We would not have purchased if the apps only goal was to play interesting compositions.

I have been trying to unsubscribe before next years charge but there is no unsubscribe button in the app. They make you email and try to convince you to stay but neither Nuryl nor Apple seems able to locate our subscription to cancel it and I’m just hoping I’ll notice if I’m charged wrongfully.

The app worked without bugs but I wish we’d saved the subscription costs and bought music for our son to listen to instead.

### 2/5 — Needs to work on Airplay support

*2018-09-08, version 2.5.8*

The concept is fine, the play lists are a fun eclectic mix (I could simulate with my own library but who has the time... yeh, yeh there's unique content...). Unfortunately I'm glad we only signed up for the month by month because the app does not support Airplay within the app so I can't take advantage of the various stereo systems with Airport expresses we have around the house. When I attempt to use Airplay mirroring with our AppleTv's, the buffering apparently is too small as there's constant drop outs, sometimes for 5 or more seconds. The effect is less with newer equipment (iPhones or iPads) but even with a new phone and latest firmware, the dropouts are unacceptable. As a secondary note the app is for iPhone (there's no display or feature differences that take advantage of the iPad capabilities.

**Developer response:** HI Tenor. Thanks for your feedback although the Nuryl app does work on iPad. Just install and try it out for yourself. As for the Airplay issues, we are not officially compatible with it but you can use the Nuryl app with any bluetooth device in your home. We have many users that utilize this method and find it very convenient. Hopefully we will become compatible with Airplay in the new future.

### 2/5 — Music fine, app terrible

*2018-05-28, version 2.5.8*

The music selection is ok but this is otherwise a terrible app. Each song takes ages to load and the playlist just gets jammed every 1-2 songs so you basically don’t get continuous play. You keep having to go back into the app to continue loading the music or to hit play again. And no there’s nothing wrong with my internet connection.

### 2/5 — Poor Quality Production

*2017-12-15, version 2.5.7*

This app works well and is a great idea however the production of a lot of the music is very poor quality.

You can hear people coughing in the background in some of the recorded piano tracks. Also, the orchestral synth sound used in some tracks is incredibly outdated and cheesy.

For $9.99 per month I expect more.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2023-07-13*

This is our second time using Nuryl as we saw incredible results with language development and cognitive processing with our first child. Highly recommend to anyone expecting a baby who wants to help shape and get a leg up in the world. Thank you again Rick and team Nuryl!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2023-01-25, version 3.1.3*

Great app

**Developer response:** Thanks!!

### 5/5 — Sophisticated playlists and great app

*2022-10-20, version 3.1.3*

Huge fan of the playlists. It’s great having a kid-safe playlist we can put on anytime that has music we also enjoy as adults, with added bonus of of this music helping grow their development and aural processing skills!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review!

### 5/5 — A reliable experience of curated High Information Music

*2022-05-13, version 3.1.0*

I learned about this app many years ago as a fan of Rick Beato’s Everything Music. As a musician, when I found out that we were having a baby, this was the first app I wanted to try. But as someone who doesn’t have time to curate among fusion, classical, and bebop to find music with interesting rhythms and complex harmony, Nuryl is worth it. I look forward to seeing how our well it nurtures our baby’s development.

A feature that would be great that I know they’re working on is a timer.

**Developer response:** So glad to hear that you are enjoying the app!!

### 5/5 — Amazing contribution

*2021-10-11, version 3.0.6*

As a parent I want to do everything I can to help my children be who they are born to be. Music has always been a passion of mine and I can tell my baby especially really lights up when the music is on. It is definitely a vibe booster for our home and upliftment. I feel good knowing I’m doing something positive for my children that is easy and fun. And hey, I enjoy it too. It’s easy to navigate and use. I’m grateful for the creators of this!

**Developer response:** So glad to hear you are enjoying the Nuryl app with your child Adreena!

### 5/5 — Great Idea and works great

*2021-05-25, version 3.0.6*

What a great idea for an app. And straightforward to use.
The unique music on Nuryl is mentally stimulating while physically relaxing, especially the sleepy-time playlist.

**Developer response:** Thanks Tec! Our users have been asking for a sleepy time playlist and we are happy to finally have out 17 new songs songs specifically composed and recorded for the Nuryl app. Make sure to check out our Nuryl Parents Facebook page exclusive to subscribers.

### 5/5 — Loving this app so far!

*2021-05-21, version 3.0.6*

Having a new baby, I am really interested in the concept of stimulating her brain to help make her smarter in the long run. I noticed this app, gave it a try for a month, and really love using it. The songs are interesting and intelligent, not just simple nursery rhyme music. I feel like I am getting a musical education as well! And the lullaby playlist is amazing and so helpful. My child falls asleep so quick to it! I love getting a new playlist each month and seeing my daughters eyes light up with the music. Hard to tell if it will help her get smarter but I know now is the time to be proactive and start something while her brain is so impressionable. I would like to see a reminder function because I get so busy during the day that we sometimes forget, but I still give this five stars. Definitely do your child a favor and give it a try for yourself.

**Developer response:** So glad you are enjoying it. Feel free to send us suggestions of how we can make your Nuryl experience better. support@nuryl.com

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2021-05-20, version 3.0.6*

As a nanny, I have loved using this app. It’s such a fun way to engage the twins I watch. They’ve been listening since they were 6 m.o and are now 2. As young babies, I’d put this on when they got fussy and they’d immediately calm down. I also LOVE the new sleepy time playlist feature. Perfect for nap time.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for this great review Sabine! What a wonderful way to bond with them, and I am sure the parents will thank you in the future for exposing them to the Nuryl program.

### 5/5 — A MUST if pregnant!

*2020-12-30, version 2.8.5*

This app has been amazing for my 2.5 year old. I started at 4 months gestation with him and truly believe it has enhanced his cognitive abilities and language skills! He speaks so clearly and I believe this has a lot to do with it.

### 5/5 — Thanks!!

*2020-08-03, version 2.8.2*

After seeing the videos of Dylan, I knew we had to use Nuryl with our baby. It just makes sense to take a few minutes a day to expose them to this type of music. Thanks Nuryl!
