Nute is a notepad that calculates.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-13

Scientific notation, maths functions, adjustable text and a proper cheat sheet. This update came out of one user's real worksheet.

• Scientific notation works both ways: type 275E-6 and read 2.75e-4 back, instead of a rounded 0.
• Maths functions: sqrt, ln, log, exp, the trigonometric family, round, floor, ceil and more, plus pi and tau. You can leave out the multiplication sign, so 2pi * r works.
• Superscripts and subscripts are rendered: write 2^10 or X_c and it looks the way you would write it on paper.
• Engineering notation, in Settings. Write SI prefixes the way you say them, 275u, 10n, 4.7k, and results come back the same way.
• Text size is adjustable from 11 to 32 points, with zoom shortcuts on the Mac.
• Line numbers can be switched on, and there are three new themes: Terminal, Sage and Nord.
• A cheat sheet in Settings, About Nute, lists everything Nute understands.
• A variable you assign now wins over a unit with the same name, so f, l, c, g and h are yours to use.
• Long lines keep their result on screen, next to the row where the calculation ends.

Global variables are here. Define a value once - like `salary = 3000$` - and it's seeded automatically into every note. Edit your globals in Settings › Global Variables (Nute Pro).

Eight new currency symbols now work in calculations: ฿ THB, ₹ INR, ₩ KRW, ₽ RUB, ₺ TRY, ₫ VND, ₪ ILS, ₱ PHP. Any Unicode currency symbol is automatically recognised, so future additions need no app update.

Pick your two keyboard shortcut currencies in Settings › Keyboard - no more being stuck with $ and €.

Also in this update: redesigned onboarding, a cleaner paywall, scratchpad improvements, and bug fixes throughout.
