### 3/5 — My perspective

*2025-07-29, version 10.0*

The app is a bit outdated. It doesn’t read barcodes. It’s nearly impossible to add items unless you’re using products from certain European countries as it requires all nutrients listed in kcals which of course the US doesn’t use on our labels. So if you don’t mind fudging a bit. It’s not too bad. It seems to integrate well with Apple Health but I’ll have to re-evaluate after a month or two.

### 3/5 — Good but buggy

*2025-05-15, version 10.0*

As a vegetarian, I use the app to track protein macros. However, many common items (Ex: Trader Joe’s Almond Butter Cups) are not in the database and the app crashes if you open the barcode scanner. There is no feature on the app to request help so there’s no ability to troubleshoot. It’s good for estimating, but since the exact item is likely not listed, it can vary widely. Feels like it was published too soon with no efforts to revise.

### 4/5 — Good app but Omega fats missing

*2024-10-03, version 10.0*

Regarding the 'Nutrients' app for the iphone, it would be great to see Omega fats included in the nutrient breakdown.

### 3/5 — Not as good as it was

*2024-08-29, version 10.0*

You can no longer add foods via the camera and adding a new food manually consistently fail to populate properly. inputting (iPhone iOS 17). It has been over a year since any effort to update has happened.

The time setting on an entry is egregiously slow. The only reason I continue to use the app is because it tracks details most diet tracking apps leave out, such as potassium - when it works.

Have gotten no response or fixes from developers.

### 4/5 — Adding new food

*2023-10-09*

Amazing!
Only one complaint: There is a Pantry option which is allow you to add new foods and their respective nutrition facts, but when you start doing that the app crashes.

### 3/5 — Useless

*2023-08-04, version 10.0*

Waste of money. Most foods and beverages I consume are not in its database. Prior to the latest app update, at least I got a pop-up telling me such and gave me the option of creating it, now it doesn’t even do that. Finding my way to where I can create a new entry, everything has to be converted to grams. Not worth even $5

### 4/5 — Good app but

*2023-07-29, version 10.0*

I am kinda dissatisfied with the food database. I used some Good Wheat pasta in a recipe and the database didn’t recognize it. There is no way I can see to add foods to the database. I also tried entering in my multivitamin and again not in the database. This app would be 5 stars with more foods.

### 3/5 — Hmmmm.

*2023-07-20, version 10.0*

With the number of bugs I was finding in this app I thought it must be new but, I’m having the same problems as people 5 yrs ago. App crashes when trying to add foods, app crashes when trying to scan label, etc. It would be a tremendous tool if it worked. The app functions partially but if you want to be detailed and accurate, it needs to be fixed.

### 2/5 — very useful app marred by illegibility

*2022-09-21, version 9.1*

—The inclusion of brand named products is confusing and sometimes the only option.
—The mineral section of the bar graph is so obviously illegible when the white bars get big enough to obliterate the white font, it’s mind boggling that such a basic bug would be allowed to stand.
—there are several other readability issues .. for example the words “saturated fat” overlap with percentages rendering both impossible to read.
—There is no way to retrospectively add an item to the journal, but it is possible to remove items.

### 3/5 — Can’t add new foods

*2022-07-12, version 9.1*

Every time I try to add the nutrition info for a new food the app crashes. Seems like it would very useful - but if you can’t add foods not included, the usefulness is reduced considerably.

### 3/5 — It’s ok, but not great

*2022-02-07, version 9.1*

There are many foods that are not listed although easily available in the US and Canada. I have tried to add products through their scanning function, and it has not worked once.

I also have emailed them once with a question and never heard back. 🙁

### 4/5 — Great app, one bug

*2022-01-09, version 9.1*

Overall I love this app so far but I noticed a bug. When I create a recipe for a multivitamin, then add said multivitamin to my journal, the vitamins all turn white and all day 0%. If I remove from my journal, it goes back to correct values.

EDIT: I found the source of the bug. The issue was because I put 0 grams for one serving of the vitamin pill. There is probably a calculation for the % daily value that involves the grams so it set everything to 0. When I changed the serving size to 1 gram, it works as expected. — from a fellow Software Developer :)

### 3/5 — Needs a better database

*2021-12-13, version 9.1*

More often than not the brand is not in the database. If it is, more often than not the serving size or calories or some part of the nutritional information listed in the app is different than what is listed on the food label. I can’t even try using a different brand for the food I am trying to enter because that nutritional info isn’t even close to what I am consuming.

### 3/5 — Can’t add foods

*2021-10-08, version 9.0*

It drives me crazy that I cannot add foods to the journal database. There’s no entry for oat milk whatsoever and it’s very frustrating.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not for UK residents

*2025-07-24, version 10.0*

Waste of money. Pity it doesn’t give any indication it only covers US food just leads you on to pay for something you can’t use.

### 1/5 — Average

*2025-07-17, version 10.0*

The barcode scanner on this app does not work.

### 1/5 — Used to be better. Now dumbed down and basic.

*2024-10-08, version 10.0*

I have had this app for years. I used to really like it. A couple of years ago however, they really dumbed it down. It used to have detailed nutrient information, for example, both soluble and insoluble fiber. Now, it just has very basic info for each food that you can get from any food label.

You used to be able to see a very comprehensive list of foods that were high or low in a specific nutrient. (For example, “Im trying to eat more magnesium,” or “I have a relative who can’t eat vitamin K”.) Now this will show you the top 100 foods for a given nutrient, but unfortunately, these ingredients or foods are not de-duped so you tended to get a list that has a lot of repeats, or very odd and obscure foods and you can’t scroll past the end of the 100 items.

It’s basically just like every other super simple calorie counting app out there, and I don’t think this is very differentiated or special any more.

### 1/5 — Can you add CoQ10

*2024-09-11, version 10.0*

Also the older version was a lot more intuitive

### 1/5 — New items make it less functional

*2024-07-05, version 10.0*

I’ve used this app for years to help me find ingredients with particular vitamins and minerals that I run low on. With recent updates, my favorites history has been removed (🙁), but also the sorting by vitamin/mineral content has become useless to me because every result is some kind of Native American plant or meat that I absolutely have no access to. (Caribou ice cream??? In central USA???? We don’t even have caribou here, much less caribou ice cream!)
I really appreciate that these foods are in the app, but it would be wonderful if there was an option to omit certain categories from the searches and sorting. I also cannot eat fish, so it would help me there too for the nutrient categories that are 90% fish.
The sorting limits also appear to be broken, so when I select “all” it still only displays the top 100 results.

Just feeling very disappointed in this app in recent years. It used to be my go to for nutrient packed meal plans, but now I can rarely find anything relevant. I will revise this review again if positive changes are made in the future. Currently: if you can eat fish and live in Alaska or among the Plains Indians this may be great for you. If you live in a typical city? Eh.

### 1/5 — Seems pretty limited

*2023-10-01, version 10.0*

Didn’t know about most foods I tried. Weirdly, when I asked for nutritional information on cashews, I got information on dock instead.

### 1/5 — Not what I thought…

*2023-01-01, version 9.1*

I found this app somewhat confusing to figure out. I wanted something to track nutrition and not calories or fitness. This seemed like it might work but now I see it doesn’t have the trace elements/minerals for bone health that I was looking for. Then I tried to add a recipe and that’s a joke. It’s not a recipe at all but only a list of foods. You can’t customize the ingredients you enter. it’s a whole pound or grams. Then the second item I tried only had grams, no cups or pounds or ounces. If you enter the wrong amount you can’t edit it you must delete and go find it again. Useless feature. I don’t see much value in it for tracking food for a day or week etc. It might work ok for only one item lookup but if that’s all you are doing there are apps that can do that for no cost. Save your money. I think it’s bad that they don’t let you see it for a day or before you buy. Lesson learned you just might get junk.

### 1/5 — Not flexible

*2022-06-17, version 9.1*

To use this app you have to first make a purchase. No free trial!

I found the navigation very prescriptive and not flexible enough to construct your own meal plans.

Furthermore, the database seems to be more USA orientated, it does not pick up European/UK products. So, frustrating to enter in product details.

I’ve deleted the app and presumably wasted the £4.49 purchase cost.

### 1/5 — News flash. America isn’t the centre of the universe.

*2021-11-20, version 9.1*

Oh good. Yet another app that treats Americans like they’re the only people on earth. Not a single Australian food item appears in this app. I went for the paid app hoping that it would give better results. Nope. Worse results. In fact, in all the years I’ve used tracking apps, this is the first that had ZERO items I tried to scan in. So WORST results. The interface is also absolute rubbish. Not user friendly at all. No rhyme nor reason to the button configuration. I have to click each one every time I want to do anything as the icons don’t relate to any function.

### 1/5 — Does not work. Scam.

*2021-09-24, version 9.0*

Scam

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-02-26, version 10.0*

Great info at your fingertips

### 5/5 — Valued App years later 5⭐️s

*2024-05-31, version 10.0*

Thank you for this valuable resource! I refer to it often. It’s been years since my original purchase.

It instantly answer my questions. I’m often asked for nutritional advice (it’s my passion) & I share your App with my family & friends.

Today I’m adding to new my IOS device (no extra charge- thxs)

Thank for your work, this Excellent App

### 5/5 — Tracks everything!

*2024-04-24, version 10.0*

Great app if you care about nutrition. It logs your calories, cholesterol, sodium, vitamins, minerals, all kinds of fats — even caffeine and alcohol. They have a big food database, although of course they don’t have every kind of food. You can enter nutrient data for foods that aren’t listed. You can enter recipes for food you prepare yourself. This app told me where I was eating hidden sugar so I got rid of it. It also told me I was calorie-deficient on some days, and which vitamins I need to supplement. I highly recommend this app.

### 5/5 — Great no nonsense app

*2023-07-09, version 10.0*

This app is exactly what I was looking for. Tracks your nutritional intake including vitamins, Animo acids etc with an easy to see chart that shows how far you are close to 100% of your needs in each category. Over time you can adjust your diet to increase or lower the score. At £5 flat fee this is much cheaper than any subscription based app and for me it’s all I need.

### 5/5 — I’ve had this app for Years!

*2023-05-16, version 9.1*

And I wouldn’t be without it!

Even my Dr is getting the idea that I’m on to something with my “wild” ideas about nutrition!

Mid 60’s and Still keep up with the average half my age!

For the last several years …..
I have Relied on this very app for Tons of information

And you keep up with New Stuff/Products!

It doesn’t get better than this!

I can’t Thank You enough !

### 5/5 — The only serious nutrition app

*2022-11-24*

This is a great app. It does its job well, it does not collect data and it is entirely free. It is the only app I could find that offers a micro-nutrients tracking. You can also find the sources for all the data.

My main usage is to try to make new recipes for a perfect diet in order to take care of my body, then to keep track of what I eat in a day with the journal to make sure I eat everything I need.

The only flaw I could find is that using a recipe inside another won’t include the nutrition facts of the sub-recipe in the nutrition facts of the main one. It would have been nice for some meal preparations for example.

A huge thanks for this app.

### 5/5 — Easy access to comprehensive nutrient information

*2022-07-09, version 9.1*

I used to rely on another app which was no longer supported and I was so happy to find this app, as a naturally like to see what the food I’m eating contains and this app makes it so easy to look up just about anything, including commercial products.

### 5/5 — Great to Track Nutrients!

*2021-06-20, version 8.4*

I finally found an app that really tracks nutrients! After a health scare, I found a typical calorie or diet app would no longer work for me. I with Nutrients tracked Omega-3s and Biotin but overall this is a great app!

### 5/5 — A must have

*2021-04-03, version 8.4*

A must have for any health conscious person.
It would also be grate if a comparison section be added.

### 5/5 — Exactement ce que je cherchais!

*2021-03-16, version 8.4*
