### 1/5 — What’s the point

*2021-05-14, version 1.4*

Very little value from this, can I not pay my bill via mobile?

### 1/5 — Useless

*2021-04-07, version 1.4*

What good is this app if I can’t even pay my bill?

### 1/5 — No bill payment

*2021-02-28, version 1.3*

Can't pay bill

### 1/5 — Customer satisfaction

*2020-11-02, version 1.2*

What a mess. Again, companies rely on IT to help make simple transactions simple. Talking to machines is probably great if you’re a machine. Your billing department has got it right, just deduct and then figure how to explain what the bill is for.

### 1/5 — Wasted effort - why publish this app at all

*2020-09-07, version 1.2*

Basically you get the emergency line, a reminder not to dig before checking for gas lines and mini blog like posts. Unlike PGE, no bill pay, no use graphs, no statement history. Downloaded and deleted inside 2 minutes.

### 1/5 — Does nothing

*2020-06-20, version 1.2*

Should allow payment via Apple Pay. Can’t even view your bill.

### 1/5 — Waste of space and time

*2019-11-15, version 1.2*

The primary function of this app SHOULD be to pay your bill, check rate usage, etc. Instead, it’s the most worthless app I’ve ever seen! You can’t do anything but click on tips and find the number to call before you dig. Why waste space on the App Store with this garbage? Even smaller utility companies have created apps to do bill pay. I expected far more advanced technology from NWN. What a letdown.

### 1/5 — App that does completely nothing

*2019-03-27, version 1.2*

As the title suggests, the app is pointless. Not sure why it is created in the first place. I can’t even log in to check bills, view history, etc etc. Might as well just take the app down since it can’t do much

### 1/5 — Stupid stupid stupid

*2019-02-15, version 1.2*

Why waste ratepayers’ dollars on such a stupid app? This is obviously a mid level manager’s effort to check off an “accomplishment” for his or her annual review (and likely bonus, also paid by us ratepayers).

### 1/5 — Annoying & Useless app

*2019-02-10, version 1.2*

Notifications are out of control with no way to selectively manage them. Locating underground lines is just a request to have them come out, nothing more. Deleting the app as it’s more annoying than useful.

### 1/5 — FYI - no bill pay

*2019-01-22, version 1.2*

This app is not tied to you account, so if you want something to monitor usage or pay a bill, this isn’t it.

### 1/5 — Practically Useless & Disappointing App

*2018-12-17, version 1.1*

No option to sign in or view/pay your bill. It’s not difficult to make an app that essentially loads the website. Far less effort to do that then to put this waste of space in the App Store.

### 1/5 — WTH?

*2018-06-21, version 1.0*

Worthless. You can’t pay your bill through this. 911 number? Hello…

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2018-04-29, version 1.0*

Don't waste you time. This is simply nothing more than a webpage with permission to bother you with useless push notifications. There is no feature that allow you to login and access your NW account, bill, etc....Downloaded and deleted....

### 1/5 — Near useless

*2018-02-26, version 1.0*

Doesn’t display any account information or local information. Horribly designed. Looks like it’s meant for a child.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No Statement/Payment Options

*2025-07-07, version 2.0*

Why? It’s perhaps the most useful function of an app. This is an extremely puzzling decision by the utility.

### 1/5 — WTH?

*2025-02-12, version 1.9*

What is this app even for? I need to see my usage and bill at-a-glance… Useless.

### 1/5 — Zero star app

*2023-06-02, version 1.4*

This app is so embarrassing. It is absolutely pointless and provides no value to the user. How many people agreed to this? How many meetings happened where people said “Yes, this is good.”? Heavy boomer vibes.

This is the worst app I’ve ever downloaded to any phone. By far. Since I got my first iPhone, gen 2 launch day.

### 1/5 — Helpful buuuuut not really at all.

*2023-05-12, version 1.4*

Where this app hopes to be helpful it’s missing one key feature. One HUGE feature that would make it useful. Account info/billing and maybe information on current usage for your home.

Some may ask why is this important? Well let me inform you. The current version of this app is so useless that lost people would just uninstall it and never use it again or forget about it and in an emergency not even remember having the app because they click it with so little frequency. Don’t get me wrong the information is helpful but if it’s not something I go to once a month I am not going to remember this is where the information came from.

NW NATURAL!!! Time to step up your game and at least match what PGE does with their app. Shouldn’t be that difficult. Join the age of apps and actually make one that’s useful to help your customers. At least make it easier than google. Because all this information I could go to google to get and I won’t have to search for the app on my phone and forget I uninstalled it.

### 1/5 — What is this app for?

*2023-02-02, version 1.4*

Doesn’t appear to do anything.

### 1/5 — Literally the dumbest app ever

*2023-01-17, version 1.4*

“How useless can an app be?” Must have been the headline for the meetings that preceded the launch of this app. Why on earth would a utility company offer this app?! How often do they think anyone would need an app to remind them of information they can google quicker than the time it would take them to find this app? If I, paid my bill, checked usage, or had the option to start/stop my account then the regular use might create familiarity and I would think to check the app for the tips offered on this app; however, because it is useless and I never use it I most definitely would forget I even downloaded the app.

### 1/5 — Waste of time!

*2022-08-30, version 1.4*

I expect to pay my bills on this app. I can’t. This app is worthless!!!

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2022-05-14, version 1.4*

Waste of space and time.

### 1/5 — Utterly Useless and Pointless App

*2022-04-10, version 1.4*

The only reason I would use an app for Northwest Natural is to view and pay my bill. Instead, it is information in regards to call 811 and safety materials. Sure, that is important and all, but what about an app?

### 1/5 — Should be removed

*2021-08-17, version 1.4*

Useless app with links to 911 and an 800 number. Completely useless.

## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great idea!

*2024-09-17, version 1.7*

An app that lets me hold all important safety numbers and links in one place? Count me in!

### 5/5 — Quick access to NWN info and useful reminders

*2018-06-02, version 1.0*

I don’t need the call before you dig number often, but’s it’s handy to have quick access. I also like the occasional informational links, didn’t know that about my meter spacing requirement.

### 2/5 — gives notifications for tips

*2018-05-14, version 1.0*

I installed this so I could be notified in case of emergency or problems at or near my home. Instead it beeps me with random reminders, like “Give gas meters a little elbow room.” That stuff belongs in a newsletter or blog that I read at a time of my choosing. I don’t like to be interrupted for it and there’s no way to selectively disable routine notifications. I complained to them once but they haven’t stopped so I’m disabling all notifications. Unfortunately that makes the app pretty useless.
