### 1/5 — Locks up on opening screen

*2024-05-03*

I have several of the apps from NWF and none of them will open. It’s almost as if they have not been updated to match the current IOS. I don’t open them very often, but for the money, expect them to work. So sad.
Update: Functionality has been sketchy at best. Finally figured out when the app hangs on the opening screen I can open the app after shutting WiFi off.
Clearly no one is maintains these apps. NWF is just pocketing the money.
DO NOT BUY!!!

### 1/5 — Hangs on opening screen

*2024-03-04*

Brings up the opening screen and stops there. Won’t work on iOS 17.3 on a 9th generation iPad.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-04-04, version 1.1*

Just downloaded and doesn’t work on my or my wife’s phones. This is why apps need a trial period before you have to spend money on them.

### 1/5 — Please refund my money.

*2022-03-20, version 1.1*

I purchased the ultimate wildlife bundle. Does not work. None of the apps open on my iPad running iOS 15.4. App support button in App Store takes you to the NWF web site, which does not have any app support. How do I get my money back?

### 1/5 — Doesn't open on iPhone

*2020-07-06, version 1.1*

This app will not open on my iPhone. Waste of money.

### 2/5 — Locks up on opening screen

*2022-03-20, version 1.1*

I have several of the apps from NWF and none of them will open. It’s almost as if they have not been updated to match the current IOS.
I don’t open them very often, but for the money, expect them to work.
So sad.

### 2/5 — Takes too long to open

*2022-03-06, version 1.1*

This app has been disappointing to use from the get go. It takes sooooo long to open! And they don’t have flight times for the individual species. I’m back to using a paper field guide.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2021-09-09, version 1.1*

Paid $9.99 for this app and it won’t open. It looked like it would be a great app.

### 2/5 — Regrettably terrible

*2020-08-16, version 1.1*

This app looks good and has beautiful images of butterflies, but is essentially a small set of flash cards. The identification feature is not robust, and there are several butterflies in my midwestern backyard that are not included. Feels very much like a beta version. I bought the app despite its extraordinarily high price considering it a donation to the NWF. Better, I think, to donate directly without buying the app.

### 2/5 — Most useful if you live in the western part of the USA.

*2020-07-29, version 1.1*

This app lacks basic information on some of the most common butterflies in the East. (E.g. the eastern swallowtail). If you live in CA, I’m sure you’ll get a ton of use. If you live in PA, MD, NC,....don’t waste your money.

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Kittykat

*2024-05-26*

Love the apps, have many, so no matter what I have enjoyed them. Seems like you have no one to fix problems. Apps won’t open. This happened a few years back, got fixed, now it’s happening again. Really no problem, if you are done doing your apps that’s ok, just wanted you to know I enjoyed them while they lasted, that why I gave you a 5. No one will probably read this, but wanted to say thanks for the time I had them

### 5/5 — Working now

*2020-04-05, version 1.0*

Great quick reference and follow up info. Enjoying it

### 3/5 — Limited utility

*2020-05-16, version 1.1*

Had trouble opening initially but now working. Nice adult pics but wish I’d seen the review stating it doesn’t help with ID of the larval forms before I bought this.
App help is limited.

### 3/5 — Good but not great

*2020-04-06, version 1.0*

This app has a lot of great information about butterflies as well as pictures of adults. I hope they will add photos of butterfly larva at least and pupae would be great as well. I would also love if they could have a way to mark a species as a favorite or have a life list to keep track of species you’ve seen and are commonly seen by the user to more easily access info about them.
