When I press ‘Open’, the same issue occurs, and I’m stuck in a loop. This is frustrating, and I can’t use the app at all. I tried again with another gmail account that’s never been used to sign into this app. It worked. So existing account does not work, new ones work. Also please consider add feature to buy ticket without signing into an account and use Apple Pay to pay. What a waste of infrastructure. ### 1/5 — Still Archaic *2026-01-28, version 4.106* For a transportation service that has been operating for decades, the NY Waterway app is surprisingly outdated and unreliable when it comes to real-time communication. The app is not useful for timely service updates or notifications. When there are service disruptions, alerts and text messages often arrive after the issue has already occurred, making them ineffective for commuters who rely on accurate, real-time information to plan their trips. There also appears to be a breakdown in customer support. When tickets malfunction or service issues are reported through the app or by email, there is rarely—if ever—a response. NY Shuttle buses are terrible. This leaves customers without answers or accountability. This morning, there are known issues on my route, yet there are still no updates in the app. That lack of communication forces riders to find alternative transportation on their own. Today, I’ll be taking the NJ bus instead. For a company with such a long-standing presence in the region, it’s disappointing that no meaningful investment has been made to modernize this app or improve customer communication. They stopped the ferry for about 30 seconds and we were coming down. And they started moving and we can down and said this was our stop. The guy said we are responsible for not getting off the ferry and needs to do another ticket to get off the ferry. Then they dropped us in the next location from where we had to walk 20-30 mins with our kids in the hot. How could someone think is possible for 24 people including kids and seniors from upper deck to get off the ferry in less than a minute?? The other member in our team was saying the guys were smelling alcohol. If you guys are real gentlemen and good people investigate the incident.. For now, I used to ride that ferry every couple of years but no more….
