Fellow disgruntled users, put in your 1 star review and cancel your subscription. ### 4/5 — Open Letter to NYT Audio *2025-09-11, version 1.41.1* Hi NYT team, I just wanted to share a quick note about the decision to shut down the standalone Audio app. I was sad to see it go — it’s been one of my favorite ways to engage with Times content. That said, I think the transition could have felt a little smoother for those of us who relied on it regularly. Two things in particular would have helped a lot: • Supporting CarPlay in the main NYT app, so we can keep listening easily on the road. • Migrating our existing follows and subscriptions into the main app, so we didn’t lose the personalization we’d built up over time. I really appreciate all the work the team has put into audio, and I hope you keep building on it. The Times has some of the best audio journalism out there, and anything you can do to make it easier to find and listen to will go a long way. I hate all the NYT podcasts (why are they so awful? Fake radio over-produced garbage) but this app had long-form articles, from the NYT, from T magazine and from a rather good selection of other magazines (the Atavist, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, and more).
