I really appreciate the broad spectrum of recipes. I do wish they had the a meal planning portion of the app. I use MANY apps and recipe sites and sometimes I forget where the recipe I wanted showed up. I know, I’m old, but I can’t be the tone…

This app has been a life saver for me and my family. We all have some sort of restrictions when it comes to food and this app gives me TONS of inspirations on what to cook. 98% of the time the food is delicious and healthy.  I almost never make anything twice because there are so many recipes to explore. I always send photos to my daughter and friends that are also delighted by the results. 
I’ve never been disappointed and I have a list of things to cook so I’m never without an idea! 💡

one of the rare food platforms that feels like a companion rather than a database — endlessly inspiring, occasionally distracting, and just shy of perfect because it needs more of those quick-hit videos that make dinner feel doable on a weeknight.

Tried and tested easy recipes. The recipes have changed our at home dining experience and leave us less inclined to dine out. Excellent food, easy to find ingredients, quick to more involved recipes allowing a range of options. Love this app!

I truly enjoy reading the recipes, but if I wasn’t a cook and understood methods there would have been more than one failure.  For instance, the blender chocolate mousse recipe said to beat the heavy cream for 5 minutes.  It would be butter by that time. The cashew brittle said to boil without a candy thermometer for 8-10 minutes.  That length of time brought it to less than a soft ball stage.  
A little more editing is in order.

NYT Cooking is the gold standard. It’s always the first place I go if I want ideas for a new recipe. And my favorites list is so important to me (haha!!). I’d probably actually cry if I lost it…

The NYT app delivers lots of good meal ideas, but the recipes are not always as flavorful as promised, and the time estimates are wildly off. Read the notes for adjustments, and consider doubling the most flavorful elements. Pasta dishes in particular tend to be bland - reducing the pasta by half often yields a good flavor level.

SO easy to plan meals & grocery lists on this app.  Recipes for such a wide variety of food…all delicious and well vetted, with clear instructions and tips.  The recipes turn out well and cooking is fun again!

Purchased as a Christmas gift to myself a few years ago, NYT Cooking has transformed my life, what I enjoy reading, my dinner parties, my meals for friends, what I get excited about, what I look for at the farmer’s market, and the way my 17-year-old son has started to lean in to how and what I cook. The two old oak recipe boxes high up on my shelf — one mine, one my grandmother’s — look so cute up there. Now I mostly just smile at  them for shaping me as a young cook, but it’s a rare moment when they are summoned. ♥️
