There seems to be an issue where if I’m not connected to my home WiFi or the University’s WiFi the app doesn’t seem to load. The app in my cellular data is turned on which makes me think there’s a bug issue with the cellular connection. If NYU plans on using this for the upcoming fall semester there’s no better time than now to get rid of the pesky bugs. **Developer response:** Thank you for providing us this feedback, @Mike Venomous. It is now 6 months since I first tried to use this app on my iPhone 11. I have downloaded it dozens of times since my first review. It doesn't work! The app opens, but the screen is frozen, none of the links work. I have to use mobile site. Very time consuming. Earlier this year I wrote: I have tried for a week to use the NYU Mobile App. I have an iPhone 11 with the latest operating system. I download NYU Mobile from the App Store. Then I try to use it, but none of the links work. I have powered down, I have rebooted, I have downloaded the app dozens of times. It simply does not work. The screen is frozen. Be prepared to not be able to login and if you’re over 40, get your readers. Sad. Edit- instead of asking people I email you to discuss the problem, just do a thorough testing of the app. Even better, scrap it and start over. Just an NYU logo and a spinning wheel forever. ### 2/5 — Too many bugs *2019-08-29* I’ve been using the app for Welcome week. When I click on one event I can see the information fine. But when I click a different event, I see the information for what I previously clicked on instead of the one I’m currently trying to see. It’s frustrating. You also always need to log in with your details. Slow and not user friendly. ### 1/5 — NYU Classes... *2017-12-18, version 3.1* Doesn’t work through this app due to two factor authentication. ### 1/5 — Homemade quality *2016-12-22, version 3.0.2* If only you have other choices. ### 2/5 — Getting there *2013-07-11* It's better than previous versions, though still crashes on iPhone 5 when logging in. Finally supports iPhone 5 now.... Though this app doesn't really have much usability. Before you dole out sums of money into developing the app, ask what students want!! Suggestions: 1. Schedule 2. Add/drop classes 3. Map with better functionality 4. Less clustered home page (yes it acts as a news portal, but no one reads them and it just becomes very inconvenient to use) 5. Meals offered at cafeterias 6. Events in NYC (esp events where NYU students can have discount, then maybe ability to reserve ticket too in later versions) 7. Schedule visits with shc kimmel wasserman In all, more reasons why students should use it, more reasons why students need to LOG IN to use it. ### 2/5 — Needs to be updated *2013-04-30, version 2.3.0* iPhone 5 compatibility please! ### 1/5 — needs a lot of additions! *2012-08-29, version 2.2.0* This app may be very visually appealing, but it does not offer anything that an NYU student needs on a day-to-day basis. I suggest adding both NYUHome and Albert immediately. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Didn’t launch *2025-08-23* I read the negative reviews from a few years ago but thought perhaps the app had been fixed by now. Nope. I launched the app and a spinner displayed for literal minutes before I gave up. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2024-08-28* I’m a new student and need to use this for welcome week. It’s only consistently useful function is the Covid screening that NYU requires so we can attend class. ### 1/5 — Daily Screener not working again *2022-07-06* Once again unable to access library or office due to malfunction of Daily Screener. Submitted email service request and received a robo-reply stating it may take up to three business days for them to get back to me ### 1/5 — Multi-Billion Dollar University Makes Crappy Apps *2022-05-05* You’d think that a multi billion dollar university that prides themselves on innovation and technology would be able to develop a simple functional app. Unfortunately, this app is a coin flip. You can either get it to open or it requires 5 minutes of loading time to just open with none of the functions working. On top of that NYU has decided to outsource their daily screening process to access the building to Qualtrics which the app was not designed for and many times it crashes leaving you to wait outside of your building in order to enter. ### 1/5 — will not let me sign in *2022-01-31* I literally cannot get past the sign in to verify with a call or duo mobile when trying to complete my daily screener. Out of the blue! *2021-10-08* Was working fine but all of a sudden I'm not able to login to my NYU account with my iPad. The screen gets stuck on the multi factor authentication page with no way to request for a duo push notifications. Been facing this for over a week now. Other times it says it has update despite having no updates on App Store. I left for my phone unlocked for over an 1 hour once and the loading wheel just kept spinning. Whenever I see”update” I just delete and reinstall the app repeatedly until it works. I’ve been using for 3 weeks and have twice not been able to get cleared because it said I didn’t have my vaccine card uploaded. It’s missing many important tabs that you find when you’re on your computer, such as the syllabus tab (which is probably the most used one). So update the app NYU!! ### 3/5 — Not very relevant to students *2015-09-01* The app is good but still needs work. There are a lot of things in the app that students don't need on a daily basis like directories, for example. I would suggest adding Albert for starters. ### 3/5 — Could be better *2012-08-05* Works all right with maps etc. but crashes occasionally when I open it. Would really be useful if you could log into nyuhome or Albert. The resources it offers are a bit useless compared to nyu's website. ### 3/5 — Good, could be better though. *2012-06-15* It's definitely a useful resource with a map specific to NYU, Shuttle routes, Directory, CareerNet and Service Connect, and other info related to the school. However, the photos tab is also mistakenly named CareerNet, and I really think the app would be of greater use if students were able to connect to Albert from it, and maybe add a tool for schedules. ### 2/5 — Not terrible but needs improvement *2019-09-16, version 3.2* Not terrible overall. Interface isn’t needlessly cluttered. However largely defeats the point of having a separate mobile app since you need to login again every single time you open the app. Even more egregious is that you cannot download files that professors upload to NYU classes. I literally cannot open a pdf. This app is almost there but needs serious refinement.
