The vehicle licence fee is NOT the registration. The NZTA website clearly states this. But some of the prompts on the app only refer to ‘renew rego’. Why not ‘renew vehicle licence’ which is the correct terminology? You will never educate the masses. Then the next required step is to update my address. It does not show the existing address and the link on the page takes me to a webpage which I must login to by referring to my drivers licence. Why does it not take me to the ‘my NZTA’ tab in the app which has all the details displayed with an edit function? Then, when I actually do the transaction it provides an option to enter an alternative address for posting and then I have to enter the email address for confirmation. Why not send it to the email that is recorded in the system unless I opt for an alternative email address? It seems to me that some features have not been fully integrated with each other. Also frustrating that I had to log in again after a certain period using Real Me. That’s a pain if I need access to the app quickly. It already has Face ID, PIN and MFA. ### 2/5 — Room for improvement *2026-06-06, version 1.10.0* I installed the app hoping it would make the rego renewal process easier. I was disappointed when the app just sent me to the NZTA website and asked me to re-enter the details of the vehicle I had just selected in the app. Why make me repeat that? ### 4/5 — Updated: Swing and a miss *2026-03-15, version 1.8.1* Great that in-app payment for RUCs was added. So I tried RealMe. But the 2 factor authentication isn’t working. Assuming this is the same as the invoice number as it’s the only other number I could find on the document. The code would not work so I called real me and the removed my Authentication app process and I can now log into real me anywhere else. But when trying to use this app it keeps asking me for a code which still does not work and the real me help person said I no longer have the any authentication app connected. And even after re-link to Realme, I still can’t see demerit points, which is frustrating.
