It doesn’t keep you logged in. When scrolling through a page, all the content on the left side of the screen that is supposed to be what your reading on the right isn’t shown. You can’t click on individual obituaries, pictures or articles with any consistency. There are far too many additional frustrations to list. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the previous edition. Please bring it back! I use an iPad so my issues may be different from those using an actual computer or laptop. If I wanted to just use my browser I don’t need this app. You can tell the app to keep you logged in but that isn’t true as soon as you close the app you are logged out of the website. No bylines on articles – that’s basic stuff. The app itself is clunky and missing features, pushing me back to the website, which honestly isn’t much better. The whole experience is frustrating and makes me question if it’s worth the hassle. ### 1/5 — USELESS App *2024-01-13, version 5.03.190061452* I recently subscribed to the OR so I could access the news using the OR app. I quickly discovered that I would have to log in EVERY TIME I wanted to use the app, even though I select the option to keep me logged in. I contacted the OR about this and they actually told me the app was “not robust enough” to keep me logged in. They recommend that I not use the app and log in using Safari. So therefore this app is USELESS. It is not user friendly and obviously by all the bad reviews the owners of this paper does not care. Just opening their app is so frustrating. Why must you tap 3 or 4 different buttons just to view the front page?? This isn’t rocket science. One teenager with limited IT knowledge could probably correct this issue in a couple of hours. Like one of the other reviewers, I too would rate it a zero if that were an option. ## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Nice E-Edition *2017-12-14, version 4.24.210030375* I'm living out of the area for a couple of months and like the convenience of reading my hometown paper while away. Once I spoke to customer assistance, I am navigating with ease reading my paper page by page like at home. Although I am permanently logged in, each day, it asks for me to sign in. I click the bar to do so and I go immediately to page one- not actually having to log in again.No issues here. Every night. Most generally you can’t even get thru one without having to go back and try 3-5 times to try and hurry up and read before if shuts off again. NEEDS FIXED. When scrolling on a page the finger has to track perfectly vertical. A minor, virtually imperceptible, movement left or right flips the page, which takes more than a few seconds to load so the user must wait before returning to the previous page... requiring more time waiting for it to load. Before you went in and it was right there no waiting no pausing now with every page turn you have to wait and forget even downloading the edition. It’s very frustrating and not user friendly. Bring back the old version or at least some form of it. ### 2/5 — E edition not as good *2017-11-05, version 4.24.210030375* The e edition is the whole reason I use this...but I’m using the app less since this upgrade. It forces you to type in your username and password every time even though it gives you the (apparently theoretical) option to be remembered. Once you get to the e edition, it has s lost functionality compared to the previous version.
