### 1/5 — Doesn’t open

*2024-06-13, version 24.05.00*

The app doesn’t open; it instantly crashes. I tried deleting and redownloading but no luck. Please fix this soon!! I love my library!! I will update review when it’s fixed xoxo

### 1/5 — Lost

*2024-05-24, version 24.05.00*

Bring back Libby. This one is terrible

### 1/5 — New library App Keeps Crashing

*2024-05-21, version 24.05.00*

I have an iPhone 7. Old app worked great. This one keeps crashing before I can open it. Please fix so it works with older phones too. We can’t all afford newer iPhones. Thanks!

### 1/5 — Horrible App

*2024-05-13, version 24.04.00*

Constantly freezes and forces you to delete app and reinstall.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — From Bad To Worse

*2026-07-06, version 26.06.00*

Never works. Oh yeah, the little wheel spins. A lot. And what about the “search catalog” feature? Oh wait, that never works either. How many “uninstalls and reinstalls” does a patron have to do?

### 1/5 — The app itself aweful

*2026-06-24, version 26.05.00*

Keeps crashing not loading anything at all after i logged in

### 1/5 — Soooo slow

*2026-05-01, version 26.04.00*

I don’t know how they’re making their server calls but dear lord it is slow. You have to wait a full minute for anything, even your card, to be visible.

### 1/5 — The old app was leaps and bounds better

*2025-09-09, version 25.08.00*

The new app is so slow and obnoxious to use. Everything takes forever to load and it’s hard to navigate. I wish we could get the old app back.

### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2025-08-18, version 25.06.00*

The app crashes often. Requires user to continually reload.

### 1/5 — Terrible upgrade

*2025-01-11, version 24.12.00*

The switch to the new app clearly shows a preference for price over function. The app takes over a minute to load. Sometime doesn’t load at all. With most recent upgrade it deleted my user number AND doesn’t open, even with deleting the app and reloading it. It really makes taking out library books an unpleasant experience. Please fix this app.

### 1/5 — OSLM Stinks

*2024-12-22, version 24.12.00*

The latest version (December 2024) of this Ocean State Libraries app is terrible. It constantly locks up, doesn’t display correctly and requires me to delete it and reinstall it from the App Store to do one or two searches before it’s useless again. PLEASE FIX THIS APP. It is critical for library patrons.

### 1/5 — This new app is absolutely terrible

*2024-06-24, version 24.05.00*

It locks up on my iPhone. I can’t enter the pin.

### 1/5 — New App does not work for me

*2024-06-18, version 24.05.00*

The old app worked fine. The new app does not work on my older phone. Poor people frequently have older phones. Fixing what wasn’t broken has the expected results. The library has inadvertently excluded poor people from access. This certainly is counter to the library’s mission.

### 1/5 — Keeps getting worse

*2024-06-16, version 24.05.00*

The second to last version of this app worked well. I relied on it and enjoyed using it. The last version of this app only allowed me to use the library card barcode for scanning. I relied on it. This version of the app is completely nonfunctional. I have an iphone 6s. Considering this is a public library app, it should be functional for a wider variety of phones, including older ones.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 4/5 — Enjoying New Look

*2024-06-21, version 24.05.00*

I am really enjoying the look of the new app. The thematic carousels of book covers that greet you make browsing for a potential read much easier. It really complements my use of the Libby app. This is a great improvement over the last version.

### 3/5 — Pretty good but has a bug

*2024-05-04, version 24.04.00*

Whenever there’s a long list of checked out or Hold items and I attempt to use filter to select only physical materials, the sorting goes into a neverending tailspin. This does not happen with other filters chosen.

### 2/5 — When it works, it works

*2026-02-12, version 25.12.00*

When the app works, it works fine. But lately I can’t even log in, which makes it functionally useless.

### 2/5 — Crashes every time I click “place hold.”

*2025-12-15, version 25.09.00*

This is a new one but yeah can’t place a hold anymore because the app just closes immediately.

### 2/5 — Functional but Inaccurate

*2024-12-23, version 24.12.00*

While searching up for materials through the catalog works just fine (but will also note that their catalog is small and could use some new materials to be added), checking for library hours was horribly inaccurate. The main website too.

Went to my local library after checking THE Ocean State website, the app, and even Google Maps for good measure, to be sure that they were open, and they were not.

I don’t understand how a library system doesn’t value itself. Want more patrons and more people to use the libraries? Be better. DO better. Be more accurate.

### 2/5 — Broken- but was great while it lasted

*2024-05-16, version 24.05.00*

Since yesterdays version update to 24.05.00 the app only crashes. No matter how many times the awesome ladies at the appanaug branch tried to help me uninstall and reinstall it.
We were able to confirm that I was downloading the new app but even they could not understand why the app keeps crashing.
If this could please get fixed I really enjoyed being able to check for books and media and request holds on them right on my iphone.

### 2/5 — Balky and awkward

*2024-04-22*

I found this app almost impossible to listen to: an audiobook would unexpectably stop and need to be re-started; sometimes at the end of a chapter, sometimes after long periods of continuity. It's a 3 or 4 step process to go from sleep to playing, instead of a simple button press to wake the player (iPhone.) I understand publishers want to make audiobooks easier to protect, but this app is making them hard to enjoy. I hope it will be polished and upgraded.
