## What is Ocean Tools?

The electronic logbook for the skipper. 

The logbook is fully customisable and allows you to easily log events. With a fantastic light mode for daytime logging and the ingenious dark mode for night-time logging, you have your log under control at all times.

The logbook is based on the two-phase model familiar from the paper form. First, the events are logged as they occur (on a notepad). At the end of the day, the collected log entries are then transferred to the logbook. This procedure has great advantages when keeping the logbook, especially on long voyages when a trip lasts several days. 

Almost everything about Ocean-Tools is unlimited, the number of logbooks, stages, log entries, crew, destinations and sails, to name just a few examples. This provides the best conditions for going on a long voyage. Ocean-Tools is also suitable for charter skippers who often change boats and crews. 

Try it out, it is currently the best logbook app for skippers on the market. We are working on making Ocean-Tools even better.

Sails & Propulsion
- The fourth reef is now integrated.
- Sails can be assigned to categories, giving you a clearer overview when setting them.
- Engines can now be changed alongside the sail wardrobe.

- The CrewPool has been completely redesigned.
- Additional details, such as smoker status, can now be recorded.

- Navigation has been rebuilt from the ground up — sluggish moments should now be a thing of the past.

### V0.31 — 2026-08-02

Islands now have their own coordinates and therefore appear directly on the map. In addition, you can store information for each island that matters when anchoring and mooring – such as prison islands, nature reserves or access restrictions.
We've also moved the app to responsive layouts: every view now adapts neatly to any screen size, from iPhone to iPad.
And, as always, this release includes numerous bug fixes and optimisations under the bonnet.

This version introduces a range of new features for crew and logbook management:
Accident and Damage Reports: Incidents can now be recorded and documented directly within the app.
Sign On/Off Process: The sign-on and sign-off process has been newly integrated – including identification on the official crew list.
Letter of Sign On/Off: The corresponding documents are now provided directly in the app.
Change of Skipper in the Logbook: A change of skipper can now be properly documented in the logbook.
Change of Watch Leader: Changes to the watch leader can now be recorded as well.
Crew Notes: A new note-taking function for the crew – entries can optionally be shown in the printLog.
Crew Overview: In Crew4Stage, all crew actions per person are now clearly listed.
Further Improvements: Various bug fixes and optimisations ensure an even smoother experience.
