## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Beware

*2019-09-07, version 3.1*

Says in app purchases but I was immediately charged $10 for FIVE SCANS on pressing GET and the finger print scanner. NO WARNING AS TO THE COST OF THE PURCHASE. Feeling ripped off as there are better free products out there. Have downloaded Microsoft office Lens now. Shop around, don’t feed these people, they’re sneaky.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2019-05-16*

Trust me. This app doesn’t work! It was just a ton of random letters and symbols. Don’t get this app

### 1/5 — Horrible Scanning

*2018-04-15*

I scanned a few pages to test it, and it would only deliver gibberish to me, a full page would garner about five gibberish words somewhat resembling certain words on the page. Then, the other page I scanned was in English, and it somehow created sentences of Japanese letters. Perhaps handwriting isn’t compatible, but regardless, google translate can recognize my handwriting. Why can’t this app?

**Developer response:** this app is not for recognising handwriting. If google can understand your handwriting then thats fine. No need to give 1 star

### 1/5 — Do not buy this app!!!

*2017-10-08*

This app works great with the 5 credits but when you try to buy credits, your card is charged and you never get them! Plus, there is no app support, when you click on support you reach a page that does not even exist!

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2017-09-26*

All I get is garbage when I try and use it. No characters just weird symbols.

### 2/5 — Free? Misleading & Dishonest

*2020-12-10*

I would give this one star, except that it worked well, the one time I tried it.
I think it’s dishonest and misleading to call it “free” when “free” just means you get to try five scans with it before having to pay $7.99 for a thousand more scans (and there is no other option, i.e. for fewer scans).

I don’t scan often, and this misleading and dishonest claim was a waste of my time and energy. I don’t wish to pay for 1,000 scans when I need four.

If your app is for-pay, then own that, be proud of it, and don’t use “bait-and-switch” tactics to lure in sales prospects. It leaves your potential clients feeling resentful, and casts you as greedy and misleading, not inspiring trust.

### 3/5 — Not very good

*2017-09-04*

At least the text isn't gibberish but the receipt data that I got from a Walmart that I scanned isn't easily usable nor is it consistent from receipt to receipt. And Walmart receipts are among the simplest formatted receipts. All pricing data is at the bottom of the text readout, so it's difficult to line up the price to the product.

My search continues...

### 3/5 — OCR test with various media

*2017-05-05*

Pros: fast scan, easy user interface. Cons: reliable only with clear, consistent text (i.e. Magazines, books, etc) does not work well on graphic text, multiple fonts or sizes, colors. Also, not a free app, after 6 scans you must by credits, but they are not very expensive, $3.99 / 1000 scans.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2020-04-27*

This app was what I was looking for.

### 5/5 — It blows me away

*2019-02-22*

I took a picture of a text image on my desktop and this program converted everything flawlessly, which my ReadIris program didn’t. It ‘s just what I was looking for.

## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2019-02-13*

I have no idea why this is getting such negative reviews, but it really does work!! The first time I used it it read everything swimmingly. Strongly recommend.

### 5/5 — The only one that works

*2019-02-05, version 3.1*

Medical terminology was a breeze!! I had almost lost hope after trying a few other apps, but this one delivered perfectly!

### 5/5 — Recommended

*2017-03-22*

I am quite dazzled by the performance of this. I had a letter which I had cut out of the New York Times back in 1988, and the paper had yellowed with age. I placed it on my desk where the sunlight coming in the window could illuminate it. Did the scan, and after the processing the result was almost flawless. The letter had been printed in three columns but that didn't confuse the program. The only errors were consistent: the word "of" in several - though not all - instances had the "o" in uppercase when it shouldn't have been. This was very easy to fix. The program prompts you to copy the result to the clipboard, which I did, and then I emailed it to myself.
I couldn't be more pleased.
