### 1/5 — Lost my old issues

*2018-10-06, version 4.0*

Where are all the old issues? I have been subscribing to this magazine through the app for years. But I’ve just opened the new app to find nothing before November 2017 is available. This is the second time I’ve had this issue as my Evo subscription had a similar problem the last time they changed the app. This is simply theft!

### 2/5 — OCTANE APP

*2018-10-04, version 4.0*

The new OCTANE app works well enough but all of my previous purchases on the previous app have not carried over and appear to be no longer available. Very frustrating and disappointing! Magazines purchased less than a year ago are now gone.

### 1/5 — Disaster this new App

*2018-09-27*

With this new App I cannot download the Nov issue. Also I can no longer access the previous issues for which I paid for /sibscribed to.

### 2/5 — Great magazine, terrible app

*2018-09-22, version 4.0*

Fantastic magazine, but wish I went with a paper subscription. The app is absolutely terrible, requires you to login frequently, often times purchases disappear. The most recent update eliminated older issues I had purchased. Customer service, silent/nonexistent.

### 1/5 — Unreliable. Unacceptable. I've wasted £34.99

*2014-12-01, version 3.3*

For the second time in two years I have subscribed to this app, only for it to charge me but not allow me access to content.

Last time this happened, I lost patience with chasing support via email and gave up.

I should have know better than to give this a second try. There is something bordering on criminal to take someones money for something that doesn't work or do what it should do.

As someone with a decent grasp of Objective-C development, I can only put it down to laziness on the publisher's part

### 1/5 — Old app was better

*2013-05-31, version 2.5.9*

Why ruin a beautiful reading experience by "upgrading" to this rubbish. Whoever made the decision needs a very big telling off and a rap over the knuckles with the app on an iPad so it really hurts. To be honest I'll just go back to purchasing paper version.

### 1/5 — Low Octane Fuel

*2013-04-03, version 2.5.9*

Confused to recently have subscribed to the earlier version of the app only to find it won't work, yet there was no warning. No easy way to carry over subscription to the new app(this app). Money spent, yet still no access. This is utterly, utterly useless.

### 1/5 — Not a great start...

*2013-04-01, version 2.5.9*

With this being the only way you can access the latest version of Octane magazine it seems a bit limited. I have been unable to log in. When restoring my current subscription, the app asks for my Apple ID and password but then does nothing else.
I like the original interactive version of Octane in news stand and can't see why there has to be a change, as it works well and has some great interactive features. I am not confident that the 'replica' version will be much more than a digital version of the paper magazine, if the previews are anything to go by.

Update 1/4/13 (appropriate, you'd be an April fool to rate this app well)
If you used the last Octane app, you will be bitterly disappointed but this one. All the interactivity, sliding panels, links to features, auto zooms - in short all the really cool features that made the original app very, very good - have gone, to be replaced by a mere digital version of the magazine. The only 'interactivity' I've found so far is a sliding menu page when you tap the page you are reading, which allows you to scroll to any other page.
In landscape mode, double pages are treated separately, so if you zoom in one one side the other is out of synch, which splits photos in half. One feature I liked was used on the Gearbox and Models pages, where tapping on a single item zoomed it in for closer viewing.
Note - if you subscribed direct through Octane or Dennis magazines, you'll need to create a Pixelmags account then go through several email exchanges to get it working (to be fair, they were quick and helpful sorting this out).

Come on Octane (or Dennis Mags) go back to the original app that made reading a really very good magazine a unique and interesting experience.

### 1/5 — What rubbish

*2013-03-18, version 2.5.9*

The original app was extremely good, this is poor in relation to that. This is just looks like a scanned version, done badly. Really hard to read, horrible to look at.

Basically this is junk, give me the old version quickly or I'll cancel my sub.

### 1/5 — Upgraded to new version today

*2012-07-02, version 2.5.4*

Upgraded today and the app no longer opens. Immediate crash. Running on ipad2 with io4.3.5. Please fix!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App not working on ios 17

*2023-09-25, version 4.1*

Developer not interested in helping sort it out.

### 1/5 — Octane

*2023-04-10, version 4.1*

My auto-renewal is paid every year but I’ve not received a delivery for some years now. The publisher says the have no record of my subscription and won’t deliver unless I resubscribe. I used to enjoy this magazine but it’s not worth paying for it twice.

### 1/5 — Dennis are awful

*2020-06-25, version 4.1*

No responsibility, thought or care for iTunes subscribers.

Do not buy, do not download, do not engage. Buy Classic & Sportscar instead. Their app is a lot better and they care about you.

This lot do not.

### 1/5 — Rip Off

*2020-06-25, version 4.1*

I have an auto-renewing annual subscription to Octane Magazine. About halfway through the year, the app denied access to new issues. I contacted Dennis Publications and Apple and neither would help me. They basically stole my money.

### 1/5 — Wonderful magazine, terrible app

*2019-05-01, version 4.0*

I’ve been a long time subscriber to Octane and just recently switched over to a digital subscription. Horrible idea, My eyes get so strained trying to zoom in and read the text. Why can’t I read this on my laptop!? Also the top 1/3 of the page is hidden under the menu bar. I will not be renewing the subscription if this app is not improved soon.

### 1/5 — Not Good

*2018-11-28, version 4.0*

All my past issues, which were paid for are gone. Let my subscription lapse as a result. So sad, was one of my favorite magazines. Appears print is dead, even in this digital format.

### 1/5 — Brand new app = Brand new cr**p

*2018-10-26, version 4.0*

No longer have access to anything over 12 months old, one of the staff told me to contact Apple !!, I was told in an email than Dennis were only offering 12 months access but were looking into increasing this. I would think this is a no-brainer since the terms in the app details say that you will always have access to issues you have paid for even if you cancel.

### 1/5 — USELESS!

*2018-10-24, version 4.0*

All the old issues have disappeared. Paid for issues can no longer be read, even if they had been downloaded. Please sort it out!

### 1/5 — Where are my previous issues ? !!

*2018-10-19, version 4.0*

Since the last update I can only view the issues I’ve bought this year . How can I get to read all the issues I have bought over that last few years please ?

### 1/5 — Ruined the experience

*2018-10-09, version 4.0*

Old app had its problems, but this new one is worse in every way. Previously purchased issues are no longer available. And new issues can’t properly be viewed in landscape view. That means photos (one of the hallmarks of your publication) can’t be viewed in their entirety when they are spread across two pages. Completely ruins the experience.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best online magazine for car fanatics!

*2023-10-31, version 4.2*

Really enjoy your great commentaries on most interesting cars. Big fan of Jay Leno, too with his American perspective. Wish you would showcase the Honda S2000. I’ve owned one now for almost 18 years and it is the best, most fun sports car for the money anywhere. I absolutely still love mine.
Thanks,

### 5/5 — Timeless

*2020-06-22, version 4.1*

Recent events have given me the opportunity to go back over past issues. I’ve realised more than ever that Octane contains so many timeless articles that can be enjoyed well past the date on the cover. It’s welcome escapism with some wonderful images. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Old issues

*2019-08-28*

I get an email saying the issue is available then it turns up over a week later on my apple subscription. Then this issue downloads with no content.!!! I won’t be renewing unless this improves. A pity because the content is outstanding!

### 5/5 — To slow to release the magazine

*2019-08-23, version 4.0*

Typically the magazine appears in the App 2 or 3 days after it is on sale in the high street! An outstanding IT achievement and a complete waste of money!

### 5/5 — Poor delivery

*2018-11-05, version 4.0*

Unstable product & Unsustainable product support

### 5/5 — Why Did You Do This Octane?

*2018-09-30, version 4.0*

I have lost so many issues that I bought from you with your terrible new app! I can not begin to tell you how upset I am. The old one worked so nice. You have ripped me off ! I can not believe this. Thanks for ruining a long time readers happiness with Octane. My best advice, don’t purchase Octane, they could care less and take your property and destroy it with a useless app when the old one worked perfect. Octane magazine is horrible !

### 4/5 — High praise for Octane

*2021-06-14, version 4.1*

The definitive classic sports car magazine.

### 4/5 — October Octane

*2019-08-28, version 4.0*

No contents in the October Edition of Octane !!

### 3/5 — Rubbish new app, old one was better

*2018-09-30, version 4.0*

This new app is complete rubbish. The old one worked fine, but the new one does not work at all - thus is a serious backward step and whoever was responsible should be fired.

### 3/5 — Octane has an interactive version...this is not it!

*2012-05-14, version 2.5.1*

I only found out after subscribing to this "digital replica" that Octane has a fully interactive version of their magazine for the iPad newsstand. I would recommend searching for that version. Otherwise, this is a perfectly satisfactory digital copy of Octane.
