Be advised that if you have Apple’s Screen Time app turned on it will not let you see this app in the microphone permission list.  iPhone 6 IOS 14.6.

I used to use this app all the time while doing live audio, but the updates have seem to disable the gain on the iPhone internal app. Total bummer.

I must say I am more than disappointed with the latest update, as it does away with two of the things that made it unique: (1) the ability to monitor up to 1/12th of an octave (aka 12 musical semitones per octave. After all isn't this the namesake of the app!?) and on a related note (2) touching the graph no longer provides the quick frequency to pitch readout (aka musical letter name). I can't understand why you would use the update to remove essential features that made your product unique? I used this daily in my professional music mastering studio previously. Also, as a professor at a music technology university I used to recommend that all of my students purchase this app for ear training purposes. We are now experimenting with a replacement, while sorely missing the old Octave app we all used to rave about : (

I am an audio engineer for 42 years. I wish this app was available back then, but the technology didn’t exist yet. This app has saved me numerous times when using a console with no real time features. It’s accurate loads and very quick. Everything an engineer needs. I recommend it highly.

I would have given it five stars,
But the vertical scale being fixed at 6dB/division makes it nearly useless to me. I prefer everything else about this app to its competitors, but the lack of 3dB/step as an option dooms it for me.

This app works really close to my computer app with a measurement mic I own. I purchased a flat measurement mic (Dayton Audio) (for my iPhone that I can use on the spot with confidence. This avoids a large set up with gear that’s cumbersome to carry around and set up.

Paying customer here and the program is useless on the iPad. It flashes continuously making it very annoying. Disappointed in that this issue has not been addressed. Do not buy if you intend to use it on your iPad!

I love this app... No bells or whistles, it just seems to do what it's supposed to do.... But it flickers on my Gen3 iPad... And it totally annoys me.  If it weren't for the defect, and the fact the developers aren't doing anything to fix (despite numerous complaints) I'd have scored it higher

I have used this application and the past and loved it. I had to re-purchase it because I changed the Apple family I’m associated with.

Upon opening the app for the first time, it asked me to go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone to grant it access. However, Octave didn’t show up in the list of apps, so I can’t give it access to the mic.

Please fix this and I’ll change my review to 5 stars! :) (I’m running iOS 12.1)

UPDATE: Da bug iz fixed! Really fast response from the developer. Thanks for such an excellent app! Works perfectly now.

I use this app when a show isn’t worth pulling out my calibrated usb microphone and laptop. It does its job and helps me ring out the room for pesky feedback. Also use it at home in my home theater.
