### 4/5 — Hanging on for legacy support

*2026-05-09, version 2.6.0*

As of 9th May, still avoiding updating to V2. I have all the other tariff apps but this I use most which is why I pay premium version. I can’t email or contact support to ask how legacy version works once I update because I have to make an account now to do that - please would you advise on here? I don’t want to start the make account and all that might go with it.

I am desperately trying to avoid updating this app from the original version. I love the simplicity of the comparison page and I can just compare two tariffs that I’m interested in. I can honestly say I don’t want the app to be anything different from what it looks at the moment, for me that is , because I am on the legacy product and haven’t updated yet. I won’t update now if I can help it unless I do it by mistake until the legacy version is back and fully supported. Looking forward to that day.

### 4/5 — Brilliant App

*2026-04-17, version 2.5.0*

I use clear mode on iOS 26 for my icons to make the device less inviting to go on. Your app just shows as pure white and can be hard to tell what it is from a list. Could you fix this?

### 4/5 — Improved and Useful

*2026-04-11, version 2.4.1*

I wrote a review a while back giving the developer some criticism and I have to say all of it seems to have been addressed and the recent V2 is much improved!

If I could make some suggestions it would be to provide support for Shortcuts so that I can pull the cheapest hours and automate some smart home stuff. Otherwise a useful app and helps me be much more efficient. Far better than the Octopus app

### 2/5 — Behaves like an AI-generated mess

*2026-04-09, version 2.4.1*

Looks like they used AI (claude code?) to rewrite this and turn it into a chunky horrible web-page style app that would work better on desktop and looks like all the other AI apps out there - lost its charm and individuality.

Consequently the date UX is underwhelming and has no ability to scroll back or forward. Every detailed page for a date is a pop up card that you have to dismiss in order to choose another date. Friction.

It has bugs in it - like when you select some comparison tariffs it can just silently ignore your selection.

Sometimes the comparison graph just won’t show.

It seems to be riddled with bugs such as buttons that stop working until you quit the app. And annoyingly you have to log in a lot.

The developers seem to have felt compelled to adds loads more “stuff” to the app in non-collapsible panels that deviates from its core USP of comparing tariffs. This creates a lot of text and info on the screen which is secondary but shouting for attention.

This has all the fingerprints of an AI mess, and IMHO a step backward in the name of looking prettier.

### 2/5 — Unusable app!

*2026-04-04, version 2.4.1*

Keep getting logged out every couple of days. When you try to look for rates for the next day it doesn’t default to your current selection or tariff that im on - keeps loading a 2024 tariff! You then have to select a completely different one, go back and select your true one again as the select bar is greyed out first time round. Awful update, unusable, and i wont be paying to renew for this. You had a great app that everyone was happy with… why change it!?
Update: log in issues seem to have been fixed.
BUT my tracker tariff has now completely disappeared!? (Sep 25) its now showing that April 25 is the most recent which is obviously incorrect.
Please fix asap as i cannot see my rates!

### 3/5 — Incorrect tracker information

*2026-03-30, version 2.3.0*

The app is unable to retrieve tomorrow’s unit rate for the tracker plan, and the unit rate displayed for today appears to be incorrect.

### 2/5 — Keeps logging me out!

*2026-03-29, version 2.3.0*

Some good features but the app continually logs me out between uses, and the new compare feature doesn’t work at all. The app takes ages to load data, doesn’t remember preferences properly, and the widget is poor compared to the previous version.

### 3/5 — Very buggy new update

*2026-03-26, version 2.3.0*

Still getting signed out every couple of days, despite responses on other reviews saying the latest update should have fixed this. Just doesn’t really seem like it was ready for release with all the reported bugs

### 4/5 — Big Changes

*2026-03-25, version 2.3.0*

The app has recently been updated and what a change. I find it a much better experience and competes well with similar apps.

Lots of features and mostly for free rather than a lot being hidden away behind a subscription.

I might subscribe in the future but it has a very annoying problem that it is constantly signing my account out. Hopefully this bug will be fixed soon and I will use the app even more.

### 3/5 — App Update Woes!

*2026-03-25, version 2.3.0*

Since app update, unable to sign in and email sign in does not work! Unable to contact support as requires you to sign in to submit support ticket! Oxymoron! Will ask Apple for refund. Update: finally received a response and had to use my Apple account to sign in as reset password link still doesn’t work! Have upgraded rating but improvement still needed and has put me off re-subscribing in future!

### 3/5 — Getting logged out

*2026-03-25, version 2.3.0*

The app is great to use, with widgets etc. Only downside is it logs me out automatically every day.

### 1/5 — Sudden update. Total downgrade.

*2026-03-21, version 2.3.0*

Why weren’t users given a heads up on such a massive overhaul update? Literally woke up one day and the app became completely different. Not to mention everything seems to be broken and data is definitely being mined out of users.

### 1/5 — Uninstalled

*2026-03-20, version 2.3.0*

Had to uninstall after the latest update completely broke the app for me. Two major issues: it keeps logging me out constantly, which is frustrating enough on its own, but the bigger problem is that it’s no longer picking up my energy data reliably. What was once a genuinely useful app has become unusable. I gave it a few weeks hoping a fix would come, but nothing changed. Uninstalled. Will revisit if these issues are ever addressed, but right now I can’t recommend it.

### 2/5 — New app broken

*2026-03-19, version 2.3.0*

Unfortunately this updated today and I can no longer access the app. Can’t create an account which is now mandatory. Can’t reset password, the link emailed out is invalid. Not a great start for the new version.

### 1/5 — Not great

*2026-03-18, version 2.1.1*

Use to be a great app, but since the update it doesn’t work. Won’t accept my api key anymore, so I just deleted it. Such a shame

### 1/5 — So many new bugs

*2026-03-18, version 2.1.1*

It doesn’t recognise my current Octopus tariff so I made a custom tariff but there are so many bugs I can’t get anything useful out of it. This is a shame, for all its shortcomings the previous version worked for me.

### 4/5 — March update

*2026-03-16, version 2.1.1*

Getting used to new update but its not showing my gas meter …electric all ok how can i add gas api……other apps see gas meter I am a paying customer many thanks

Addition

Now sees gas meter :)

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Clunky and broken

*2026-05-19, version 2.6.0*

Currently being pinged constantly to restore purchases and the app just feels a lot more clunky and slow.

### 1/5 — Loved Version 1

*2026-04-17, version 2.5.0*

As of April 17 this is such a step backwards in terms of working functionality, simplicity and clarity. As a long term subscriber are you really going to double the fee in return for a poorer experience?

### 1/5 — V2 sucks!

*2026-03-31, version 2.3.0*

This version of the app is a perfect example of how to take a good product that works, update it & turn it into something completely rubbish!

Ever since updating to V2 I have to log in, at first this was every day, now it’s only every 2-3 days, so that’s progress I suppose!

Rates for tracker used to appear for the following day around 11am, now some days they don’t appear until almost midnight or even during the following day, despite refreshing the app the prices don’t appear.

Every time I go to the rates icon it automatically defaults to October 24 & is showing crazily low prices, when I look to change the tariff it says my current one is already selected (Sept 25). The only way to get it to actually display it correctly is to select a different tariff & then go back & deselect my current one.

The comparison screens are now pretty much useless compared to the old app.

While I appreciate the app needed to be updated to allow for more usage, V2 just sucks!

I cannot believe how much the app has been ruined in the name of progress. Time for me to delete this app.

### 1/5 — Disappointing change

*2026-03-29, version 2.3.0*

Against my better judgement of never update til forced I immediately found out why I do that, seems now you are forced to create an account now.

Guess this will be one less app on my phone now.

### 1/5 — Horrible now

*2026-03-26, version 2.3.0*

App has been updated and it’s awful. Before it was simple and easy to see Now they have tried to make it flashy and it’s truly awful.

### 1/5 — Used to be brilliant

*2026-03-24, version 2.3.0*

Ditch the modern design and bells and whistles and just provide an app that compares 1 tariff to another. How can an update go so badly. Please reach out if you ever go back to v1 so I can start paying for it again

### 1/5 — Awful update

*2026-03-24, version 2.3.0*

This app used to be great but now it’s slow, constantly signing you out and confusing to navigate.

### 1/5 — It’s now awful - review updated - now unusable

*2026-03-24, version 2.3.0*

Update 24 March. Cannot see Agile rates for today. Comparison figures completely unreliable. Date picker does not work. Dreadful on both the app and the web. I will not be renewing my subscription.

I used to love this app for its simplicity. It was really easy to see upcoming rates, and actual costs and comparisons for the previous day. Now it’s confusing, cluttered and date pickers don’t work. Please go back to the previous app

### 1/5 — Update wiped account

*2026-03-24, version 2.3.0*

Used to be a great app. Update wouldn’t allow me back in. Pwd reset fails to generate a pwd. No way to contact developer. Renewed sub last December. What’s happening. This is very frustrating as it used to be a great app.

### 1/5 — Dreadful App

*2026-03-22, version 2.3.0*

This app is hopeless, certainly for Agile Octopus. It keeps failing to provide the rates for the following 24 hours and gives information useful for”anoraks” but not of much value for mere mortals. Th original version was far more useful.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — New version better than ever

*2026-04-03, version 2.4.1*

I actually love the new version… Claude did a great job (the tip cards are the giveaway - same in so many Claude assisted apps) but that’s not a bad thing at all - big fan of using ai to assist with coding and the developers clearly know their stuff - I tried to do a Mac app for octopus and it’s not simple at all. Use this daily. Great insights.

### 5/5 — All issues fixed

*2026-04-03, version 2.4.1*

Update. Back working as it was maybe even better than the previous version!
So good to have clear information.

### 5/5 — Glitch z?

*2026-04-01, version 2.3.0*

When car is charging by pv it’s shown as smart charge . This needs sorting out

### 5/5 — Great thanks

*2025-11-12, version 1.5.1*

Really useful app, use it every day - thank you! Subscription is well worth it, and the money you’ll save on your electric bill will cover it in no time. It would be good if swiping left/right changed the day you were viewing, rather than changing the tab that’s selected, that always catches me out. Changing date in the calendar picker is a little fiddly.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-10-31, version 1.5.1*

Love that you can compare many different tariffs and see historically how you are doing compared with other tariffs. 👍🏻

### 5/5 — Fabulous tool

*2025-06-06, version 1.5.1*

Great way to work out based on your own usage exactly what it would cost on a different tariff. I use it every year to see the best time to switch from agile to intelligent go. It’s saving me about £50 a month

### 5/5 — Comparison readings

*2025-05-05, version 1.5.1*

The app has not shown any comparison readings which reviews anything more than a day. Today there was no comparison readings.

### 5/5 — Essential for Agile users

*2025-04-27, version 1.5.1*

If you use any of the Octopus flexible tariffs I think this app is the best way to see real-time and forward rates. We run 2 EVs so they account for a good chunk of our total consumption. Without this app I'd be charging blind
Recently had a tech glitch with it and Jack at M4 sorted me very quickly. Great app, great team.

### 5/5 — Makes it so easy to compare

*2025-04-26, version 1.5.1*

Love this, have been wondering for some time whether to move to the tracker rate from fixed and couldn’t get around to working this out via a spreadsheet, app made it super easy basically I would save 98p so more than happy sticking on fixed. What a delightful app well done.

### 5/5 — Probably the best Octopus App

*2025-04-25, version 1.5.1*

I’ve tried all of the octopus apps and this seems like the clearest and nicest one to use. Customisable notifications for rates, including tagging rates manually in app. Good widgets to keep you updated on the Home Screen. The rate comparison works well and gives reassurance that you are making the right decisions at whatever granularity you want. Price isn’t too bad either at £5 a year.
