As an example, driving from my UK home to SW France, using the Tunnel, it wants to route me via Paris. There are two other far better routes (via Abbeville, Rouen & Tours) that avoid Paris altogether. Other route planners can find these routes but this app either can’t or ignores. It needs more work to give users options. ### 3/5 — dark mode message support buggy *2026-08-31, version 2026.08.11* When one starts a new message one is asked to push a button to categorise the problem, however when the iPhone is in dark mode these buttons display in dark text agains a dark grey background. instead of white text on a dark background as dark mode requires. At the moment, that little map pic isn’t that useful and if one wants to look back at the features of the charging station used, you have to manually enter the details of the station in the map tab again. This app was as good as any for finding chargers and saved us money on some charges. The real game changer though was the RF card, which worked everywhere and unlocked several chargers which wouldn’t take normal contactless. (And of course they are more likely to be free as not everyone can work them…) So glad we downloaded this and ordered the card - a real lifesaver. ### 4/5 — Great app, makes public charging in UK and Europe simple. *2026-08-14, version 2026.08.04* I’ve used this many times in the UK, France and Belgium and it works really well. There’s no good reason I can conceive of that Apple Wallet support isn’t present, especially for a forward thinking company like Octopus. ### 5/5 — Chatfunktion bei Problemen *2026-08-12* ich war mir etwas unsicher hinsichtlich des genauen Preises, da in der App immer von einem effektiven Kilowattstundenpreis die Rede war. Der Preis auf der Ladesäule, in dem Fall eine Ladesäule von Eviny, war ein etwas höherer Preis (0,67 Euro pro kwh) als der, der mir als effektiver Preis genannt wurde (0,55 Euro pro kwh), in der App. Callie aus dem Livechat konnte alle meine Bedenken und Fragen ausräumen und beantworten. Die Performance der Ladesäule selber war auch sehr stark und ermöglichte meinem Auto eine sehr hohe und gleichmäßige Ladekurve. Die Bedienung der App selber war intuitiv. Ein kleines Manko: ich kann bis jetzt (anderthalb Stunden nach dem Ladevorgang) immer noch nicht sehen, zu welchem Preis und wie viele Kilowattstunden ich überhaupt geladen hatte. This has left me stranded at a charger in one instance and another issue taking a few days to solve, this isn’t great on the move. Really great and will continue to rave and use. Only downside the app has glitched a couple of times trying to use (resort to the card) and I don’t seem to be able to prebook a charger as I could before when using Arnold Clark directly. Totally stress free…so far… ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Miles/kms option removed *2026-08-15, version 2026.08.04* How ridiculous: The option to use miles or Kms has been removed from the Apple iOS version of the app. Their explanation is that this is deliberate - Octopus now expect users to reset their global unit setting to be Kms if that’s how they want to see the results. This is retrograde and inadvisable. Retrograde because when in the UK planning an upcoming European journey you have to reset it back every time. Inadvisable because the fallout from this affects iOS functions and all other apps in unexpected ways. ### 1/5 — Not that impressed *2026-08-08, version 2026.07.21* Compared to the octopus app, this is unreliable. Frequently logs out, password reset doesn’t work for days on end and rfid cards become disassociated with account for no reason. ### 1/5 — Could be better *2026-07-29, version 2026.07.07* Can’t even get it to download ### 1/5 — Route planning only in KM *2026-07-27, version 2026.07.07* The route planning and ranges in the app are only available in KM with no option to change this to miles to match my car. I contacted Electroverse and they don’t plan on changing it. This adds unnecessary manual calculations when planning routes, so I’ll just use another app now. ### 1/5 — Can’t scroll *2026-07-24, version 2026.06.30* On my iPad when I tap a charger on the map it opens a popup with further details. That popup is meant to scroll but when you scroll it just jumps back to the top meaning you can’t view details that are beyond the visible area. ### 1/5 — Terrible security! *2026-07-18, version 2026.06.30* My NEW card was used by another person and I had to prove in detail to Octopus that it wasn’t me by me forwarding my octopus bill showing I couldn’t be charging in London while I was charging at home. What if I was in London for work and had to prove fraud! So we tried again. Three more times. Same error. No charge for the car. Yet Octopus has put 4 £30 charges on our bank account. Which have not been reversed. The Electroverse support said it could take 5-7 days to get a refund (!). Look else for charging apps. I tried to use the app to start my charging session for over half an hour and every time it said failed. This isn’t the first time this has happened. I contacted customer services and explained all this only to be told I didn’t tap my rfid card properly. I’m leaving this review because that just proves that the agent didn’t read my message where I told her I wanted to pay though the app not my card. I gave up for ages as it never seemed to work. Tried again today and wow! Paid a subscription to IONITY in the app (without a card) and used the RFID card Octopus send me initially to charge on shiny new chargers at the Milton Keynes park and ride hub. Been using it for about 18 months-2 years now. Octopus calculate everything for you using your car details. Calculate the charge stops and even enable you to trigger the charges from the app. The best bit is you can pay from your home electricity account. Honestly, if you have an EV worth getting! Even if you’re not an Octopus energy customer, but why would you not be an Octopus Energy customer?!
