## What is OdaViewer?

The companion for Oda on the Mac.

OdaViewer brings your Oda archive to iPhone and iPad. Browse your folders, search across everything, and preview your documents — the same structure you keep on your Mac.

And now it writes back. Notes aren't read-only anymore: write them, edit them, tick things off, in the same editor you have on the Mac. Same format bar, same headings, same checklists. Tap into a note to write, swipe the keyboard down to read it as a clean page. Dictation works inside lists — dictate an item, say return, dictate the next one. It's the same note on both machines.

It also captures. Scan a document, pick a photo, grab a file, write a note, or share a PDF straight from another app. OdaViewer holds it until your phone and Mac meet on your local network, then sends it over — where it's waiting on your Mac for you to file. What you capture stays visible under Captured until it's filed. A capture you can't lose.

Everything syncs over your local Wi-Fi with Bonjour. No cloud, no account — your documents stay between your own devices.

Devices everywhere
The Devices section now shows every device's tray: the note from your iPhone, readable — and editable — on your iPad. Everything travels through your Mac.

Waiting for Mac
A fresh scan or note now waits in its own small folder inside your device's tray until your Mac takes it in. The folder only exists while something waits.

Sync, rebuilt
Connections are reused instead of reopened per file — big syncs finish in a fraction of the time. If nothing changed on your Mac, a sync is just a handshake. Rearranged folders don't re-download, and a locked iPhone no longer stalls the sync. Scans arrive as A4 pages, not billboard-sized.

Also new: search shows the newest results first, and on iPad, Return in the search field tucks the sidebar away so your results stay visible.

Honest sync
A small chip under the logo now tells you what sync is doing: green with the time of the last sync, orange while it works — also when files are still coming in after the list is there. Pull to refresh; if your Mac can't be reached, the line says so for a moment. Red means one thing only: the password was refused.

Stays with its Mac
OdaViewer now stays with the Mac it paired with. A second Oda in the same network is never mistaken for yours.

Also: the sidebar remembers what you expanded, even after a restart; the new OdaViewer lockup at the top; finding your Mac tries harder before giving up.

This maintenance update fixes two display issues: large text files could open blank, and a document renamed on the Mac could keep showing its old name.

Pin documents, not just folders
Long-press a document to pin it — it sits with your pinned folders at the top. Pins are addressed by document, not by filename, so they survive a rename on the Mac. Pins are local to this device; your Mac keeps its own.

Send links to your Mac
OdaViewer now appears in the share sheet when you share a link. It arrives on your Mac as a link document under Devices, named after the page.

Notes edited in two places
Before sending a note, OdaViewer asks your Mac whether its copy is still current. If the Mac moved on, you decide: keep both, keep yours, or take the Mac version. Before, the second edit quietly became a copy. Needs Oda 1.7.1 on the Mac.
