## What is Odrid HMI?

Operator panel for various industrial control system. Communication over Wi-Fi or mobile internet with the protocols Modbus/TCP (Class 0 and 1), Modbus RTU class 1 and Siemens S7 Communication (ISO-on-TCP).

Odrid HMI is an alternative to traditional SCADA systems and operator panels. The app supports multiple data types and has easy navigation between pages using swipe gestures or buttons.

Odrid HMI is also great to use for home automation with PLCs that have e.g. Modbus/TCP protocol is implemented to remotely control and monitor lighting, ventilation, heating etc in the residence or holiday home.

Prioritized event-driven transfer to the controller.
Pages are edited in the measurement unit dp (Density Independent Pixels).
Life bit for monitoring the operator panel in the controller. (Function similar to coordination area in Siemens S7.)
Numeric variables can be displayed as predefined text for example alarms, sequence steps etc.
Detailed diagnostics of connection and communication.
Variable areas for system variables, local variables and constants.
Possibility of automatic return to the start page after some time of inactivity.
Selectable order for high and low words of 32-bit variables in the Modbus protocol.
Poll interval can be set do save data traffic or battery.
Support for Baltic, Central European, Chinese (GB2312, BIG5), Cyrillic, Eastern European, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese (Shift JIS), Turkish, Vietnamese and Western character sets.
Ability to test run pages in the development tool.
LED-objects can be displayed as rectangles and in any size e.g. for Andon-systems.
Background color for pages can be selected.
Modbus Device ID can be changed with GUI objects during operation.
Image buttons.
Password fields.
Floating point and hexadecimal number formatting.
Timestamp for page files.
Hyperlinks.
Document information in page files.

Implemented protocols in the current version:

Modbus/TCP: Class 0, Function 3 and 16. Reads and writes 64,512 holding registers.

Modbus/TCP: Class 1, Function 1, 2, 4 and 5. Reads 65,535 discrete inputs, 65,535 input registers and reads and writes 65,535 outputs (coils).

Modbus RTU: Class 0 and 1.

Siemens S7 Communication: Reads and writes 8192 bytes in datablock 1 to 4095 and in the Input, Memory and Output areas.

(Default value for highest Siemens S7 databock is 255.)

Endlich habe ich diese Software entdeckt. 
Somit Ist die Logo! von Siemens endlich zur Haussteuerung geeignet und das ohne einen aufgeblasenen Heimautomatisierungsserver. 

Das Erstellen der HMI Oberfläche in der Kostenfrei zur Verfügung gestellten Studiosoftware ist gewöhnungsbedürftig aber nach etwas Einarbeitung und dank der Super Hilfe der Entwickler klappt das dann ganz gut. 

Ich bin begeistert. Mit dieser Software konnte ich innerhalb weniger Tage ein lang erträumtes Projekt umsetzen und bin voll zufrieden. 

Der Support vom Entwickler ist erstklassig und super schnell. 

Eigentlich zu gut und zu schnell für den niedrigen Preis. 
Ich glaube man verkauft sich hier unter wert.

Wir nutzen die App zur Visualisierung einer Eaton easy E4 SPS. Die Kommunikation läuft über TCP/Modbus Class 1. 

Das System läuft sehr stabil. 

Kleinere Probleme werden durch den Entwickler im direkten Kontakt extrem schnell beantwortet. 

Für die App und den Support vergebe ich gern 5 Sterne!

What's that? I purchase an app for Mac OS and afterwards I have to learn that I need to use another app which is available only for Windows to get the Mac app to work?

Not much money wasted but still a good reason to make me angry early in the morning.

**Developer response:** Yes, this is why you should always read the description *before* downloading an app. Odrid HMI is the iOS/macOS version of a powerful, cross platform, long time support and industrial grade HMI. The app is quite popular in Germany. However, the content is created off line using a free-of-charge development tool. The development tool has a test run feature so you can evaluate the features in the app before making any purchase. The development tool can be used under different operating systems e.g. Linux with Wine but there is currently no version for macOS. If you can not use the app you should request a refund for the 0.99 EUR that is the price for the app.

Update: We have verified that the free-of-charge development tool can be used on Intel Macs with macOS versions between 10.8 Montain Lion and 10.14 Mojave. Please see the online manual or contact us for advice.

Works great! Quickly set up a screen to change the start times of my 4 zone sprinkler system. PLC is a Automation Direct Click with Modbus TCP. Addressing was a little tricky but used the application example and had it working in about an hour. Very pleased.

This is a very simple and highly effective HMI for iOS.  I looked for years for something simple, quick to setup, and cost effective.  So far, this is the best.  Very reliable communications drivers.  For the price, there is enough functionality.  The support is immediate and accommodating.  I needed an enhancement done to the scaling routine and it was ready and released in a couple of weeks.  I am using this app to allow operators and maintenance people to remotely read a critical water tank level and backup power IO for a small town public water system.
