I contacted support and received this response. Here is the conversation: I'm afraid I haven't had time to investigate this further so I can't give you any more info. If you feel that you have been mis-sold, then the best bet will be to contact Apple to ask for a refund (I have no power to give refunds myself). Then I came across OffRemote, setup is quick and simple, interface is sleek and exactly streamlined, does exactly what I need it to do. I think I’ve been using the app every single day for 18 months now and it’s never broken on me, from opening the app to starting a shutdown timer it’s four taps. Of course the latter requires some moderate modifications to the bios and NIC driver; however some cursory Internet research will reveal how simple those modifications actually are (semi-pro tip: your computer must be hardwired to your modem or router in order for WoL to work). I also wanted to say how pleased I was with the swiftness in their reply to an inquiry I had about smart home integration (in case you are wondering IFTTT is out of the question for security reasons, completely understood). Der PC läuft bei mir als Medienserver in einem anderen Raum und ich wollte den (aus Faulheit) einfach per Remote ausschalten können. Ich hatte vorher dafür eine andre App, aber die hatte keinen Timer. Damit hab ich dann manchmal das Runterfahren vergessen. In Off Remote kann ich einstellen, zu welcher Uhrzeit das Runterfahren erfolgen soll, und damit kann ich es dann nicht mehr vergessen. Bisher hatte ich nur zwei Fälle, in denen die App den PC nicht gefunden hat: beim ersten Mal war der Grund, dass der PC schon aus war und beim zweiten Mal, weil ich versehentlich den Off Remote Helper, der auf dem PC installiert sein muss, ausgeschaltet hatte. Und weil die App so problemlos funktioniert habe ich mir vom selben Entwickler auch noch den FileGetter gekauft :) ### 5/5 — Very pleased/satisfied *2017-01-11, version 4.40* This app works flawlessly.
