### 3/5 — Offbeat, but Incomplete

*2023-11-07*

App delivers the offbeat, but what you find requires more research. App would be a 6 star rating if linked to a website that actually provided information on the site selected.

### 4/5 — Database Open Error - Updated Below

*2018-12-12, version 2.0.992*

Just updated to 2.0.992. When I open the app, I get a long “Database Open Error.” I really enjoy the app and what it offers. However, it doesn’t show me what’s in the area. I’m new in this area and would really like to explore the area.

Same release - 2.0.992. Opened the app 3+ times today and it has worked fine. Can’t explain the “Database Open Error” message I received numerous times several days ago.
Fun app to use and find interesting places to check out!

### 3/5 — Possible additions

*2018-11-30*

I like the app but wish it had a photo of the attractions and would like to be able to put in my destination

### 3/5 — Haven't tried it yet on the road yet but

*2017-08-24*

Just downloaded it and was messing with it and so far I can see a few improvements I'd like to see, first I'd like to be able to see a list in every state rather than just in my immediate area so that I might plan my trips in advance before getting on the road, second I'd like to see texts on the map rather than icons that you have to select to see what they are

**Developer response:** When you tap the List button, tap Sort, then tap State it lists attractions by state. How is that different from what you're asking for? If the icons were text there would be so much text you wouldn't be able to see the map.

### 3/5 — Import gpx file

*2017-07-21*

I created a gpx file using RTP and saved on Dropbox. When I try to import the gpx file on either RTP or offbeat attractions I see the file but it is dehanced and cannot open. I can read the file with a text editor and it looks like .xml file. Not sure what I can do to make this work. Also is there a way to work with CarPlay. Overall I like the app but I would like it to integrate with RTP better. Have not tried to make it work with iTunes yet.

**Developer response:** The GPX file may not have the correct extension (gpx) or other reasons, but we can't help unless you contact us.

### 4/5 — Very helpful!

*2017-06-19*

Great!

### 2/5 — Not impressed

*2017-06-16, version 2.0.7*

I will give some credit to this app. We are traveling across the country and we thought it would be neat to see some strange things. We have seen some weird/cool things, but I have now tried to visit two different off road attractions and neither of them were there anymore. Someone really needs to make sure these places still exist.

### 3/5 — Needs photos

*2017-02-23, version 1.9.1*

Not a bad app. Has lots of unique places, also available on the Roadside America app, with accurate addresses. Needs pictures.

### 4/5 — Nice app for roadtrippers searching for hidden gems

*2016-06-14*

Nice little app that is pretty easy to use and has a great database of roadside attractions.

Integrated links take you to external search engines for more information. Attractions are sortable by category and searchable. You can even set the target city and see all of the attractions local to that location with distance.

The only improvements would be to show the attraction names on the map instead of making the user tap on each one. Also incorporate user reviews or star-rating for each of the attractions. This info is out there on sites like Google or Tripadvisor. Also, when you set a location and read about a specific attraction there, then try to go back to the list again, you have to re-set the origin to see the list for that location again and scroll back down to where you were. Kind of annoying, but not too bad.

### 3/5 — Good Map with extras

*2015-01-18, version 1.5.5*

I find myself defaulting to this map for all my trips and I travel a lot. I like to add little side trips or stops along the way and this app is a great way to do this and look ahead to plan stops.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Mysterious App

*2020-07-01*

Open this app and related apps and try to figure out what the numbers mean? Try to get the answer. Way too difficult to figure this out!

**Developer response:** What numbers? If you’re referring to numbers on the map pins, that’s a common designation for multiple pins close together. Tap a map pin with a number and the map zooms in to show the map pins that made the cluster. That’s really not that had to do.

### 1/5 — Does anyone else find this app clunky and difficult to use?

*2019-08-13, version 2.0.993*

Nothing about the controls makes sense. I’d love a refund.

Update 8/12/2019: months later the developer responded to this review:
“Nope. Everyone else finds the app easy-to-use and helpful."

WHAT A JOKE OF AN APP. WHAT A JOKE OF A “DEVELOPER”.

Stay just the way you are guys. Don’t change a thing.

### 1/5 — Website use ???

*2019-03-03*

Not easy to understand how to use website

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2017-06-06, version 2.0.6*

Not very helpful. Gives very little information on each sight. Try Roadside America instead!

### 2/5 — Mistakes?

*2025-04-04*

This app is only 99 cents, but the locations that I looked for, were either not marked in the correct location, or they don’t exist. I looked at the street views and on google maps itself. The attractions just weren’t there. I see other people giving better reviews, but there was nothing for me to look at. It’s a nice concept though.

**Developer response:** Hello,
Thank you for your review. Our app includes crowd-sourced locations and information, which helps keep the app's database up to date. If you encounter an issue with a location, please select the red "Location Comment" button when viewing a location's details. We will review the submission and make the necessary changes. We appreciate the time users spend helping us improve our app.
Thank you,
Kyle

### 2/5 — Can’t add oddities

*2024-07-25*

It would be nice if you could add a waypoint when you come across something odd

**Developer response:** Thank you for your suggestion. We have an update (Version 2.200) releasing in the next few days that will include your requested feature.
Best,
Kyle

### 2/5 — Lacking greatly

*2022-09-17*

Need to have a description of eac location so you know what it’s about. A name only doesn’t offer much. Perhaps a link to a website for each location?

### 2/5 — Out of date, missing places...roadside is better

*2021-03-24*

Just purchased, and brought up to my location. It’s missing some of the best offbeat attractions there are! No place to add or suggest. Not worth it if it’s missing so much in my area, where I know there are places! What’s missing in unfamiliar areas? I’ll keep it and try on next trip but not promising

### 2/5 — World’s biggest pet rock!

*2020-11-04*

“World’s biggest hairball” kinda stuff ...aww come on! Where’s the real historical sites? And no background information, just a map and hope you get lucky after driving two hours. A disappointment.

### 2/5 — Erie Canal

*2019-12-04, version 2.0.997*

The Erie Canal is called Tonawanda creek on map 14120. Erie Canal is very influential part of NYS

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — So much better than Roadside Attractions

*2021-01-11*

This app is way better than the roadside attractions app. If you are debating over the two, this one requires more research as the locations do not give descriptions, only names and coordinates/address of attraction, but you can look up any of the attractions online with ease. It shows some that roadside attractions does not and only costs $1 as opposed to roadside attractions that costs over $10 to unlock all the US locations.

### 5/5 — Good place to find good stuff

*2020-07-14*

Found several out of the way places we wouldn’t have found on our own

### 5/5 — Dont leave home without it!

*2019-08-17*

Educational, inspiring, and an experience of stuff to see while traveling near and far! Users can update rhe data base too!

### 5/5 — Great for RV’ers!

*2019-05-11*

My husband and I are F/T RV’ers traveling the country. We have seen so many great attractions that we would have never known about if not for this app. Love it! We have told at least 30 people so far about it. The developers also are very responsive when we let them know of an attraction no longer there.
This is the only app review I have ever done,I like it that much to take the time to let others know.

### 5/5 — Best App for Traveling!

*2018-04-09*

I love this app! I like the ease of use. I have this app open as we travel in our rv. I have several apps by this developer. I can hardly wait for more!

Wow! What an update!! Fabulous! It just got easier to use, which I didn’t think possible. Thank you for your hard work. We don’t leave home without it.

### 5/5 — Interesting things to see

*2018-03-08*

When one does not want the everyday, check out Off the Beaten path.

### 5/5 — Fun unusual attractions

*2017-10-04*

We are enjoying this app to find diversions along our route that are unusual, off the wall, some downright strange! Always fun to find, good excuse to stop & stretch our legs. We found a tin man in Illinois and right across the street was an ice cream stand - a double treat! Will continue to use on out Airstream travels! Recommend for fun!

### 5/5 — Awesome!!!

*2013-06-02*

Love the real time map for finding the locations. Wish there was a better search thing. Not the images search. Bit overall this is so great. Finds the unique stuff. Not just the typical tourist museums and such.

### 4/5 — It’s pretty good

*2019-10-22*

There are a few general interest locations, but they have really improved the weirdness of the location database.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. We're constantly improving the location database, and over time it will get even better.

### 4/5 — Great tool to bring along for toad trips!

*2019-01-24*

We love this App! Traveled through 8 states this past week and loved the stops we would not have known about without the App. One suggestion - this App would be top notch if users could add attractions to it! We saw many that were not on the App and sending an email for each one is inconvenient, a huge pain.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. You can submit new attractions by tapping the + button on the bottom toolbar. Once approved you’ll see it in the next database update.
