But is so ugly and overwhelming, you’re better off with the unofficial remote instead. Well, for most use cases. I keep this one for some functionality you won’t find elsewhere. So, it’s not one star, but in the middle, solely because of that. If there’s a UX designer one day, I think this app could be 5-stars easily. Till then, honestly, hard to recommend to an average Joe. ### 3/5 — Works sometimes *2025-05-03, version 1.17* Not sure why, but 50% of the time I try to connect it says “the request timed out”. It’ll happen intermittently and there’s nothing that can be done to resolve it but wait. ### 4/5 — Great functionality and UI but... *2025-03-27, version 1.17* Love the app. I use it only for one thing - accessing my Kodi music library on an older 2010 Macbook Pro - and it works like a champ! My biggest beef is the inability to rate songs using the app. Surely this should not be difficult. Will also be great if the song ratings can be shown in the track listing when opening an album. ### 2/5 — Stopped working on iPhone *2024-11-05, version 1.15* Have 2 iPhones and after an update to version 1.15 the Kodi app stopped connecting. Upgraded Kodi to 21.1 Omega, same issue. The wake on lan is the only part that works. I can connect using Microsoft edge on a laptop and all functions work however on apple iPhone devices I can no longer connect ### 2/5 — A cluttered and confusing interface that is Not user-friendly *2024-01-23* All the functions to manage Kodi are there but sadly marred by the most I'll-thought out interface I have encountered in a remote control app. There is no synergy or flow to it and it is woefully unnecessarily complicated in execution. Sybu Kodi remote in comparison is streamlined, logical and easy to use. Redesign this broken UI. Two stars. **Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. It will be good, if you could share some main problems you see with the current UI compared to Sybu. Do you e.g. would expect folder/add-on access on the main menu, or you expect more control elements on NowPlaying? Kodi Remote offers more functionality especially around Music, Music Videos, Pictures, Live TV, Kodi settings and library browsing in general. ### 3/5 — Unable to mark seasons as “watched” *2023-12-26, version 1.13.1* I can only mark one episode at a time as “watched”, instead of being able to do so for a whole season or show at a time. Also it only plays shows locally (ie on my phone) instead of on the TV. Lame! I’m switching to another app. ### 4/5 — Overcomplicated mess but very powerful *2023-06-27, version 1.12.1* Like everything Kodi, the app is an inconsistent and overcomplicated hodgepodge of functionality but the core features are solid and it is extremely powerful. Just so you know: you *JUST* need HTTP remote access, not the other confusing and insecure JSON-RPC access on a separate port, and you don't need to input the MAC address. ### 5/5 — Needs ui colors per server connection *2023-01-08, version 1.11* Great app, I use it all the time. It would be nice to easily distinguish between which server is connected. My wife is always changing my server accidentally, and I have to yell at her “Wrong remote!!” It’s hard to tell if you are connected to Living Room or Bedroom etc. ### 4/5 — Year Category & iWatch Support *2022-12-29, version 1.11* As usual, the revival of this app makes it a pleasure to use Kodi (XBOXONE) … much appreciated! Would be nice to see the return if the “Year” category alongside “Album”, “Artist”, “Genre” without having to use a playlist. Would be good to have the same view options for TV shows as there are for movies. And the way you organise and connect to different instances of Kodi could be less convoluted. I’ve tried resetting the password and username in kodi and on the remote. Tried deleting the host and re-adding it in the remote with no luck. I have 4 different nvidia shield pros with kodi.
