### 2/5 — Poor functionality

*2025-07-19*

App highlights “new foods” but doesn’t include the names of the vendors selling them (nor the locations of the vendors). From other reviews, this seems to be a years-long, obvious gap that has not been addressed. C’mon, developers - do better!

### 2/5 — Where Are The Favorites?

*2024-08-30*

It's astonishing that this app doesn't allow filtering by favorites. It's like this was never tested by anyone before release.

### 1/5 — MN on a Stick app is better

*2024-08-22*

I came across MN on a Stick app via Reddit a bit ago and prefer that app over this one. The MN on a Stick app is far more intuitive and much easier to follow. You can even favorite all your places on the map and locate them all at once!

### 2/5 — Please incorporate favorites

*2024-08-21*

Please add Favorites filter to Map. Please add Favorite flag to New Foods category. Both of these are necessary for route planning.

### 2/5 — Missing

*2024-08-20, version 1.0.3*

Need to have the option to add favorites and be able to filter just those locations on the map like the old browser Home Screen add.

### 2/5 — No map filter for favorites

*2024-08-18, version 1.0.2*

The one feature I used on the web version is missing on this new app - you can’t filter by favorites on the map to plan your route! I hope the app developers are able to update this in time for the fair, otherwise I will have to move everything over to the regular maps app.

### 2/5 — Map doesn’t show favorites

*2024-08-18, version 1.0.2*

What is the point of having the map and favorites if favorites isn’t an option for the map?! Major oversite. I’ll end up using the Fair Eats app map instead.

### 2/5 — Most used features gone on app

*2024-08-17, version 1.0.2*

Missing the ability to have all my favorites on the map to plan my day. Sharing my favorites with my family. This makes my day at the fair worse and I’m more likely to give up and leave sooner. Also, at least let people select so they can make a list of the food they want. Care more about the dishes than the locations.

Glad I came here because I learned about the app “MN on a Stick” now this a game changer.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2024-08-16, version 1.0.2*

I’m not finding the 2024 app as user friendly as ones in the past. The map is useless as a gray screen covers the map and will not go away. I always chose my favorite eats and activities and they would appear on the map so I could plan my route.

### 1/5 — Poor app

*2024-08-14, version 1.0.2*

Not sure what this app is intended to provide. Can’t even get the ticket purchase to work. Had to go to the web site and use that, which appears to be the same as the app, to purchase tickets. Failed 4 times on the app.

### 1/5 — Hard to Find Food

*2024-08-12, version 1.0.1*

The options for food at the fair can be overwhelming - what’s nearby, what’s good, where’s that place I heard about on the news, etc. This app doesn’t really help - you can look at and favorite new foods or food vendors (in their separate sections - why?), but they don’t cross-link at all. So you favorite the Afro Poppers…and then realize that you need to go to the food finder and maybe favorite Afro Deli.

Then you go to the map and hope that you can filter by your favorites - wouldn’t it be great just to see a map with the food and events you’re interested in? But no. The map can’t even accurately show vendors that are close to each other, ridiculous considering the density of food options. You have to search for “Que Viet” for example, to see it’s pin under “Spaghetti Eddies.” What’s the point of a map for an event like this where you have to already know what you’re looking for?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not worth it even at free…

*2026-08-28*

This is a terrible app. Don’t even bother downloading.
Minnesota a stick is much better
This app should be removed from the store because it is totally useless

### 1/5 — No Pins / No GPS

*2026-08-01*

Can’t pin items to a map , can’t GPS your way to a location. Certainly can’t plan an efficient route with said pinned coordinates Huge miss on the development side.

### 1/5 — Can’t perform the simplest of requests

*2025-08-29*

Not sure why they can’t keep it simple. All I want to do is type in what I’m looking for, respond with a few options, click on one of the options and show me where it is! What’s the issue??

### 1/5 — Not useful

*2025-08-27*

Everything links to websites and searches don't return what you expect. Filtering and smart searches aren't possible. Go use the MN on a stick app.

### 1/5 — Bad search no map link

*2025-08-21*

The food search is ridiculously inefficient. Even if you find the food you’re looking for it doesn’t say the name of the store or more importantly doesn’t map you to it. Spend some money make it functional

### 1/5 — MN on a stick is much better.

*2025-08-16*

Still not as good as the other app available.

### 1/5 — You’ll do better with a paper map

*2025-08-14*

Hard to find info

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2024-08-31*

I’m just opened and I’m already disappointed. On the previous shortcut I was able to favorite what I wanted to explore and then use my map for my favorites specifically. This app doesn’t have that feature and honestly seems pointless without it.

### 1/5 — Don’t bother.

*2024-08-31, version 1.0.4*

Just go get the Mn on a stick app. You’ll be happier.

### 1/5 — No favorites filter for the map?

*2024-08-23*

It would be nice to be able to open the map and filter down to the food, vendors, events, exhibits that you’ve favorited, to map out a route. Thats the feature I used most on the old app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works well

*2026-08-29*

I thought it worked great for looking up food stands and helping me navigate around the fair. The event list search ability could be a bit better but it worked well enough to just scan thru the listed events. The app noted things in the coupon book but didn’t note what page they were on, that would be helpful to add.

### 5/5 — Handy App

*2025-08-30*

The Minnesota State Fair app worked great for me this year. I was able to favorite the shows I wanted to attend and mark the vendors I wanted to visit, which made planning easy. I especially liked that it included menu options for food vendors—it helped me decide what to try ahead of time. The map feature was also really useful for finding my way around the fairgrounds. Overall, a very helpful tool to make the most of the fair!

### 5/5 — The best state fair

*2024-08-23*

SO helpful! Use it!

### 5/5 — The App the MN Great Together needed!

*2024-08-22*

This app is insane!

The UI/UX of the app is so flawless, all the information regarding the MN State Fair at your fingertips!

Before going, I can plan my whole day! And even better, with options like Favorites, I can compartmentalize my interests and see if I need more than one day.

I could continue but I think you get it…

Thank you Fox 9 for sharing this app!

Michael.

### 5/5 — Much more on the app now

*2024-08-19, version 1.0.2*

People who were complaining at the beginning of the month, need to come back now and see that there’s been updates and changes. The daily schedule is chock full (when others said it was pretty bleak), and there’s a lot of awesome lists. You can star things you want to do, and when you click on a restaurant or food booth, it’ll show you where it is! I wish I could go to the Fair this year.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2024-08-10, version 1.0.1*

Love this improvement to the previous editions, so user friendly and nice to have info in one place.

### 4/5 — Not Bad

*2024-09-01*

decent app, could use some mapping directions for walking.

### 4/5 — In the spirit of FAIR-ness

*2024-08-20, version 1.0.3*

I am the person who wrote the August 1 review highly critical of this app. At that time, it was horrid. I've just taken a look at the new improved version and there is absolutely no comparison. The latest version that I downloaded today is fantastic. It has a different UI than previous versions of past years, but I find it to be useful, intuitive, and unrecognizable from the app that existed on August 1. Nice recovery, Minnesota State Fair!

### 3/5 — Love the fair

*2026-08-28*

Good app i just don’t like that it dose not tell you the price of food witch is the most import thing of all.

### 2/5 — Poorly executed

*2026-08-25*

Too many unfounded searches, even with the right words. Not worth using.
