## What is Offline Translator?

Instant translation, offline: no internet, computed on your iPhone, between 17 languages. Hear it, read it — in your language. Sayyi turns speech into live captions and translates them as people talk, right on your iPhone. No internet, no account, nothing uploaded.

• Listens in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese
• Translates into 17 languages, including Russian, Arabic, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Turkish
• Works in Airplane Mode once a language is downloaded — abroad, on a plane, underground
• One tap swaps the direction, so you can answer back
• A translation model built into the app for more natural sentences
• Caption what your iPhone is playing: videos, podcasts, calls
• Save any session as subtitles (SRT), text, a spreadsheet or the recording
• Everything stays on your phone. You decide how long to keep it.

For travel, meetings, lectures, videos, and conversations in a language you don't fully follow.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-09-29

• Layer is now Sayyi — same app, new name.
• New screenshots and a clearer store page.
• Fixes and small improvements.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-26

• A swap button on the main screen: one tap turns the direction around, so the other person can answer.
• Layer now starts in your iPhone's language: English is heard and shown in yours.
• Simpler Settings, made for using Layer on the phone alone.
• Fixes and small improvements.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-24

• Glasses gestures are now yours to arrange: every touch — tap, double tap, triple tap, long press, swipe forward or back — can be set to any action in Settings, and restored to the defaults at any time.
• A double tap on the frame turns the pair of languages around at once: English to Chinese becomes Chinese to English, and both screens start clean.
• Support for a second pair of glasses, alongside the Even G2.
• Steadier captions on the glasses: the screen comes back by itself if the glasses close it, and the last line is drawn again rather than left blank.
• Smoother while listening for a long time, and fixes for the battery reading.
