## What is Offloadr?

Offloadr backs up footage right on your iPhone and iPad – from card to SSD and NAS, verified and documented. No laptop, no subscription, no cloud.

PROJECTS – SET UP ONCE, USE ALL SHOOT
Create a project and Offloadr remembers everything that doesn't change: destination drives, verification method, companion files and the shoot day. Next time you open the app everything reconnects – the next offload only needs the card. The shoot day counts up automatically. History is grouped by project, with total size and a combined report per production.

If you just want to back up one card quickly, the old path is still there: no project, two taps.

EVERY FILE VERIFIED INDIVIDUALLY
Offloadr copies each file and then reads it back from the destination. Only when the checksum matches the original does it count as secured. If even one file fails, Offloadr says so clearly – full screen, in red, with the number of affected files and the instruction not to erase the card.

You can also have the source read a second time (3-way check). If it differs from the first read, the card or the reader is faulty – a failure a normal verification cannot catch.

WRITTEN THROUGH TO THE MEDIUM
Offloadr forces every file to physically reach the flash cells before it counts as secured. Without this, a drive reports "written" while the data still sits in its volatile cache – unplugging would lose it. Not switchable, because the entire promise depends on it.

HANDOVER PACKAGE, AUTOMATICALLY
After every offload the destination holds everything a clean handover needs:
• ASC MHL v2 in the "ascmhl" folder – numbered generations, directory hashes and a chain file, exactly as Pomfort Silverstack, YoYotta and Hedge expect
• PDF report with file list, checksums, duration, throughput graph and thumbnails
• Metadata as CSV and JSON – capture dates, camera details, GPS optional
• Complete log of the operation

PDF, log and metadata go into the "_Offloadr" subfolder – next to the clips there are only clips.

MHL CHECKER
Re-verify a backup later: the MHL manifest is read back and every file recomputed. That tells you whether anything on the drive has since been corrupted or went missing while copying on. Manifests from Silverstack, ShotPut Pro or Hedge work too.

MORE
• Two destinations at once (SSD and NAS) in a single pass
• Photos and videos from the Photos app as source, including iCloud download
• Incremental: skip files already backed up – for interrupted offloads
• Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island
• Battery and free-space check before starting
• Warning when a card was already backed up within the last 24 hours
• Proof per history entry: time, device and checksum – detects later modification
• German and English

VERIFICATION METHODS
xxHash-64 by default – the same thing Silverstack, Hedge and ShotPut Pro write. SHA-256 for jobs where a broadcaster or archive requires it.

NO CLOUD, NO ACCOUNT
Offloadr works entirely on device. No account, no sign-up, no analysis of your footage, no cloud transfer. Your data goes from the card to your drive – nowhere else.

REQUIREMENTS
A card reader or drive on the USB-C port, or a NAS share mounted in the Files app. Speed is set by your hardware: over 1 GB/s on NVMe via USB-C, more with Thunderbolt on iPad Pro.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.0.1 — 2026-09-08

The source button "File" didn't work properly. This and other bugs were fixed.

### 3 — 2026-08-14

Version 3.0 – Projects

PROJECTS
Set destinations, verification method, companion files and shoot day once – Offloadr remembers all of it for the whole production. Destination drives are stored as bookmarks and reconnect automatically after an app restart as soon as the drive is available. The shoot day counts up on its own.

Working without a project is still just as quick as before – the start screen offers both paths right away.

HISTORY BY PROJECT
Collapsible sections per project, chronological within, with count, total size and a combined PDF per production.

CLEARER WHEN THINGS FAIL
If verification fails, Offloadr now shows it full screen in red – with the number of affected files and a direct route into the log. Previously this was only a single line in the log.

SETTINGS THAT EXPLAIN THEMSELVES
Every option now has a plain-language explanation: what it does, when it makes sense and what it costs. Companion files are named after their purpose instead of their file format.

TIDY DESTINATION
PDF report, log and metadata now live in the "_Offloadr" subfolder. Next to the clips there are only clips. The ascmhl folder stays where the standard requires it.

WRITE-THROUGH IS NOW MANDATORY
Writing through to the medium (F_FULLFSYNC) can no longer be switched off. Without it a drive can report "written" while the data still sits in its volatile cache – which would make verification meaningless.

PROOF WITHOUT A TAP
Every history entry automatically gets a timestamp, the device and a checksum covering the entry itself. Later modification becomes detectable. The previous format proof with its confirmation tap is gone: whether and when a card gets erased is decided at the card reader, not in an app.

VERIFICATION METHODS TIDIED UP
xxHash-64 (default) and SHA-256. xxHash3-128 has been removed from the picker – its advantage was meaningless for copy verification while fewer tools read the tag. Third-party MHL files using xxh128 can still be verified.

A CLEAR ANSWER EVEN WITHOUT VERIFICATION
If you turn verification off, you now get a result screen too: "COPIED" in amber, noting that without a check Offloadr cannot confirm the files arrived intact. Green stays reserved for verified backups.

ALSO
• Source and destinations can be cleared individually – selections used to accumulate unnoticed
• Importing from Photos no longer creates an "iPhone Import" folder
• No more false "card already backed up" warning after importing from Photos
• Status and destinations in History now appear in the app's language
• MHL Checker now explains what it is for
• Layout fixes on iPhone and iPad, the keyboard can be dismissed everywhere again

### 2.1 — 2026-07-27

The biggest Offloadr update yet — security, standards and reports on a new level.

NEW
• xxHash3-128: the most modern hash algorithm, Silverstack-compatible — with a built-in self-test against the official reference
• Full ASC MHL v2 structure: ascmhl folder with numbered generations, directory hashes and chain file
• Clip thumbnails in the PDF report: previews for videos and photos right in the file table
• Throughput graph: live in the app and as a mini chart in the report — drops become instantly visible
• Card format proof: documents the release with a timestamp and tamper-evident checksum proof
• Safe Write-Through (F_FULLFSYNC): data is physically flushed to the SSD before SAFE TO FORMAT appears
• Now fully available in English

IMPROVED
• Notifications now report errors clearly — no more “success” when something went wrong
• Incremental mode checks size and modification date; copies keep their original timestamps
• MHL checker: picks the newest of multiple MHLs, cleanly reports unsupported hash formats
• GPS coordinates in the metadata export can be disabled
• Faster, more robust history and a smoother log on large offloads
• Numerous stability and security improvements under the hood
