## What is OffPeak?

Peak electricity costs almost 2.4x off-peak in summer. Knowing exactly when the price changes is the hard part — OffPeak answers it at a glance.

BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD

OffPeak currently supports one rate plan: SMUD's Residential Time-of-Day (5–8 p.m.). If you are a PG&E customer, or you're on SMUD's Fixed Rate plan, this app will not show you the right information. Check your bill first — it's on the "rate schedule" line.

WHAT IT DOES

• See the price window you're in right now, and what it costs per kWh
• Watch the countdown to the next price change
• Get a heads-up 15 minutes before the price changes, so you can start the dishwasher on the cheap side of the line

THREE WAYS TO SEE YOUR DAY

Swipe between three screens and keep whichever one fits how you think:

• Dial — the whole day as a ring, color-coded by price, with a marker showing where you are in it
• Price — today's rate in large type, the day laid out as a bar, and every upcoming window listed
• Countdown — time remaining in this window as the biggest thing on screen

WIDGETS

Five to choose from, so you rarely need to open the app:

• Lock Screen: a countdown to the next change, or the current price
• Home Screen: the day as a miniature dial, or a countdown
• A circular gauge showing your progress through the current window

ALERTS THAT RESPECT YOU

Choose which price changes are worth interrupting you for — peak, mid-peak, off-peak, or none. Set how far ahead you want the warning. Set quiet hours so nothing wakes you at midnight. Peak warnings can break through Focus; nothing else will.

WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS

SMUD prices weekends and its 11 holidays entirely off-peak, and OffPeak knows it. No false alarms on Thanksgiving, no phantom countdowns on a Saturday.

WORKS COMPLETELY OFFLINE

SMUD publishes its time-of-day schedule in advance, so OffPeak calculates everything on your phone. No account, no sign-in, no network connection, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. Nothing about you leaves your device — because nothing about you is collected in the first place.

RATES

Rates come from SMUD's published Residential Time-of-Day rate schedule and were verified against the official tariff in August 2026. SMUD's approved January 2027 rates are already built in. Always confirm against your own bill before making decisions.
